Ok team... here is the spreadsheet for the team for this week... ive had to break down and go through a few logs to get the results from people as I figure Dee will be wanting our spreadsheet.

If any of this is incorrect its entirely my own doing so please let me know!

Thanks

Well I'll be happy to post words more often...don't think you're getting any leg pictures though...

Yesterday was a rest day and it coincided with getting off early (the company I work for was the only contracting company that didn't get Vets day off so there were about 20 of us in a large building by ourselves, but they let us go at 1). Got some chores out of the way so that was good.

Today's walk/run was rough...my legs still felt like jelly...any suggestions on something low in calories/carbs to eat that might give me a boost there (sucks being a diabetic trying to lose weight)? But I'm up to 6 minutes of my routine being a "run" (in 2 minute intervals)...nice thing is that's the max for the next 2 weeks. I passed an old guy who was running at one point...whoo hoo, I can pass old ladies in the pool and old guys on the trail...granted they both eventually kicked my rear by using the slow and steady wins the race mentality. But, hey, it means I could be going even slower than I am, so guess that's something.

Tomorrow is another swim...I'm upping my time to 45 minutes and will try to get a few more intervals of 75 yards in (last time was all 50 yard intervals).

That's it from Maryland. I'll try to keep up a bit better but you guys post too much for me!

great run kelley!! you don't have to do it all at once, especially with running, it seems to be a "build up to it" kind of sport. AND you don't have to post pics of your legs, you can post your lovely face for example, or your arms, or whatever, the part you're most proud of
as far as low calorie/carb. i like to have some coffee and maybe one slice of bread with peanut butter on it before i run. or a banana is good too. i didn't know you were diabetic, (i have minimal experience with diabetes, as i had GD when i was PG with my daughter) you can PM me if you wanna chat about it, i don't know if i can help or not, but i'll try

Depends on what you can stomach when working out too!

Hi Kelley!

Snacks with low carbs/cals, that might give you a boost --> All I can think of is fruit. (Yes, I know that chocolate tastes better. LOL)

Congratulations on adding some run time into the workout, on passing people (regardless of their ages), and on increasing your swim time! All of these are GOOD things.

Dee

Rye bread, or whole wheat bread -- those would work better than white bread. (White bread = very bad!)

Apples would be very good, or some other fruits. The body takes time to convert fruit sugar (fructose) to glucose, which means your blood sugar doesn't immediately spike upwards.

Another option is something high in fiber. Fiber fills you up AND it slows down the absorption of sugars. If you slow down the absorption of sugar, it keeps your blood sugar from rising too quickly.

Fruit juice.... worries me a little. It has the fruit sugar (fructose) which is better than glucose, but it usually doesn't have fiber.

Fiber is good at slowing down sugar absorption, which in turn keeps blood sugar from spiking upwards.

(PS I need to point out that I am not a doctor, nurse, dietician, nutritionist, etc.)

from my understanding you got that right!!! protein has the same affect... which is why when you combine food groups yuo get a different result from when you eat each of the foods individually

Having said that if you are heading straight out the door then you NEED something thats going to hit your blood stream fast (a high GI carb) as you are looking for the boost of energy/energy that is going to be quickly available

haha or coffee or fruit...

Actually if yuo can stomach it (i cant that early pre workout) coffee teaches your body to burn fat efficiently which is also what you are trying to do with a morning workout.... if yuo can handle it tea of cofffee is great pre workout as it assists with helping yuor body learn to burn fat...
