P.S. Soory for the crappy looking table.....the work computer seems to act differently than the home computer...guess I should get back to work. Have a reat day everyone.
Yay! I am yellow!!!! (Barely) even after missing nearly a week with family drama...and the huge overestimate about my goals...I see that I really need to get on the bike more. Any idea how much trainers cost? Great job, everyone! |

Bummer! Esecially since you are at your top form. HA HA HA ...that makes me laugh, Shoeless! I am nowhere near top form. I am aching all over from that run, and I haven't logged nearly enough miles on the bike or in the pool...but, on the plus side, this was the first time in a long while that I have been training somewhat consistently...I just have to wait until June 7!!!!! |

Oh, my goodness, Julie, what a terrible bruise; and what a terrible accident you had! Once when I was a kid I had my tennis shoes draped over the handle bars of my bike, and they got caught in the fork. Stopped me in my tracks, just like you. I can't believe your quad is even working on that side right now!!! P.S. I'm so glad you didn't break any bones, or end up with a head or back injury! Edited by Shoeless 2008-05-22 11:13 PM |

Veteran 242 Reading, Berkshire (UK) | Subject: RE: US West Team - May "President's Cup" challenge sealiongirl - 2008-05-21 7:23 PM Hi everyone! Is 110% the cap for the challenge? If so, I've met it for cycling...but no where near on the others! Guess what I'll be focusing on! Also, does walking count toward running as it did last month? Also, do you get a 5% increase for every brick/race in a given week, or just once in a week? I may need to throw some bricks in this weekend. OK...one more also...are bricks just considered bike/run, or does swim/bike count? What about swim/run or run/swim? Probably not... Hi guys, Just dropping by (as requested ) to give some clarification... Is 110% the cap for the challenge? Yes -- the spreadsheet is set up to stop counting your training after you hit 110% in a discipline. Also, does walking count toward running as it did last month? This really depends on what sort of walking you mean. Essentially it needs to be a "workout" to count. Of course the definition of a workout will differ for each individual, and only you can judge. So, if you'd do the walking as part of your training more or less regardless of this challenge then it counts. If you're trying to add up minutes of walking that you'd do anyway and not normally consider training, then they don't count. Some examples: walking to the bus stop (dressed for work, high heels and all) probably doesn't count; walking around the shops or down to a local coffee shop to meet friends probably doesn't count; walking with your children to school (and stopping while they examine some flowers) probably doesn't count. Power-walking as a recovery session or to rest a niggling injury probably does count. Power-walking because you're building up your fitness after a break probably does count. Does that make sense?? Sound fair?? Also, do you get a 5% increase for every brick/race in a given week, or just once in a week? You get a 5% bonus for up to 2 bricks in a week -- so a maximum of 10% each week. Again, the spreadsheet calculates the bonus automatically -- all you need to do is add in the number of bricks (or multisport races) you've done in the first column. Are bricks just considered bike/run, or does swim/bike count? What about swim/run or run/swim? All of these count as bricks -- just remember to keep your "transition" time as short as possible and absolutely no longer than 10 mins. Multisport races also count but not single sport races. Any other questions, just let me know! Happy training!! Gill |

My calf got a bit tight just before the race last weekend so I have been feeling it out and not getting my runs in, I am not going backwards! I think I should be able to run today except I have both kids home from school, not sure I want to push them in the jogger, I will find a way!!! Should be able to get at least 1.5 hours of swimming in tomorrow so I should be back in the green again!!!! GO WEST IS BEST! LET'S SHOW THEM WE CAN DO IT! I BELIEVE WE HAVE THE BIGGEST TEAM, NOT SURE IF THAT HELPS OR HURTS US! |
