Hi ghoulies!  Lots going on in thread today.  I was a little incommunicado as I tried to squeeze in 2 days of work into 1 today so I could take tomorrow off.  Hitting a 3 day stretch of 60+ weather.  I hope my butt's ready for some long bike rides

iowagander - 2009-11-05 1:01 AM Time to fall asleep to some Family Guy. Good night Ghoulies! See you all tomorrow.

how can you fall asleep watching TV?

it must be a guy thing.  my DH falls asleep watching the Tube too.

my DS falls asleep to nighttime talk radio LOL.

both 'bug' me.
stacieb

I actually have very odd bedtime habits. I can watch TV to get tired, but to fall asleep I need to have my iPod. Sometimes I fall asleep to relatively calm music, but just as often it's very hard rock. I don't know why, but it helps settle me down

I had the same habit of falling asleep to music, but had to ween myself of it when I went to college and had roommates.  Pretty much all I listen to is hard rock so yeah, people thought it was weird.

aspeelma - 2009-11-04 11:07 AM What is for lunch today Ghoulies?

A little late jumping in on this but I had left over spaghetti squash "pizza"

Now that sounds like a heck of a recipe! I'm intrigued...

Your roast a spaghetti squash and then take out the squash and dry it as much as possible.  You then mix in some parmesan (sp?) cheese and an egg.  You then bake it in a quiche or pie pan for 30 minutes.  There is a recipe...which I will post later today...for a turkey tomato sauce ...you then put ricotta and the tomato sauce in the squash "crust" and add some mozarella to the top and bake it some more.  Tastes like pizza...but even if you eat 1/4 of the pan in only had 400 calories.

Thanks Katie! I'll be looking forward to it.

Do vegetarians ever feel full?

I am not being sarcastic I just look at the menus and think that I would be starving on that type of a diet.

What is your main protein source?

Thanks in advance!

Oh us veggies can overeat!  Especially if you're not vegan (I am not) and like cheese.  (I love pizzaTongue out  Protein can be a challenge, but it's doable.  I eat lots of beans (black, lentils, garbanzos etc).  One fav is black beans with salsa & chili's served over brown rice.  Topped with low fat sour cream and cilantro.  Yum.  I've learned to like tofu....it's all in the preparation.  I like it stir fried with a peanut/sesame sauce.  Speaking of peanuts....I eat peanut butter sandwiches for lunch fairly often.  I buy the healthy kind though, no sugar.  You can boost protein in lots of other ways, I sneak protein powder into foods whenever possible.  I'm fairly liberal with food, other than the fact I don't eat meat or fish.

Today's meals...post swim: home made lara bar, b'fast: hardboiled egg, stick cheese, banana.  snack: whole wheat pita chips  lunch:  lentil soup, apple.  Rest of day tbd but will have another snack and dinner will probably be whole wheat pasta with something or the other on top.  Maybe Tom, I heard he likes to be on top.

Seriously, only time I struggle is when I travel.  I don't have a problem with my weight and feel great.  I do supplement iron and b12 though.  Not for everyone and I'm not out to try and convert anyone.  Personal choice.  I'm having the family for Thanksgiving and there will be a turkey on the table for them.

Too funny - now back to reading your post.

BTW - I have not complained about either location that I can recall!

Yes. People stared when I laughed out loud after reading that!

Wow. Just wow. I believe that's the first time anyone's ever suggesting using me as a topping for pasta. I'm finding myself strangely flattered. And for the record, I will never complain about either location!

a lovely scented body lotion w a hint of......CANNABIS.

so if you find me sniffin' the bottle in the back corners of the GHOULIE VILLAGE, you'll know why.

totally worth the drive.

its my reward for doing such a good job on my race.

i like to reward myself.  and it doesnt take much to make me happy.

Good to know Make sure you keep the name for that lotion. Maybe it can be one of the raffle prizes for the nekkid tri.

Did 8 myself - funny how this never came up last month.

I was in submarines out of Norfolk then did a year in Puerto Rico and transferred to Buffalo and separated there!

Cool! I started off as an AG (weather-guesser) and made first class before I got commissioned via the Seaman to Admiral program, which is how I ended up at Iowa State. Now I'm a SWO, temporarily working in recruiting.
