Happychick - 2010-03-07 7:10 PM Hey all! Sorry I was completely absent this past week...I felt as though I was on my death bed but am feeling much better now.

Stacie ~ to answer your question from a week ago I am moving to WA.  My hubby is retiring (Army) and has accepted a job up in Northern WA which is nice cuz we have family there!

Don't worry I haven't been around since I think page six
there's no way I'm going ot be able to catch-up on 20 pages either

We'll forgive you!

If I want to keep it that way I should start hanging out more and posting

My favorite discipline....

BIKE!!! (of course)

As a kid I so vividly remember getting my Raleigh Marathon when I was about 13 or 14... I used to ride that thing around town (all four streets of town) for hours.  We may have only had a few streets, but two of them stretched for several miles and I would just ride in circles all day long.  As well, we didn't have sidewalks so you HAD to ride on the street, which made you want to go as fast as possible so that the cars wouldn't come up on you so fast.  Yep, I was a cyclist at an early age and never knew

Morning all.  Trying to figure out my day as the weather went from a beautiful, sunny Sunday to a dreary, windy, and possible wet Monday.  I might brave the pavement and get on my tri bike then head to the pool in the afternoon.  Still a little sore from Saturday, so the run is pretty much out of the game plan.

Alright, got to get the kids off to school.

the answer to yesterday's question...

Currently I think that biking is my favorite leg.  I am not a great bicyclist, but I really enjoy the wind on my face and the scenery I get to see when I ride.  Once I am into the run leg I generally don't feel so much like enjoying the scenery.

deehtz - 2010-03-07 5:15 PM The BIG NEWS is:   I now have a road bike!!  Instead of my old, cheap mtn bike that doesn't quite fit me!

I had been saving for a new computer, but decided to go for the bike!  I will post pictures later when I can get everything sorted out.  It is a Trek 2.1 WSD.  Fits me like a dream (at least compared to the old bike LOL), has shimano 105 (shifters and rear and front ),  was a decent price and is white and yellow (I did manage to keep the color as non-deciding factor LOL)

I will be very curious to see how many mph this adds just by changing from my old bike to this one.  Unfortunately, it started raining today and is supposed to all week.  I really want to try it on dry pavement first.  The test ride was only a few miles, and it was more up and down hills and corners than my usual rides.

Congrats on the new bike. I'm excited for you.  I would like to replace my mtn bike with a road bike this year too but don't know if that will happen.

How many pairs of swim goggles do you currently own?

Three: one smoked, one clear, and one for the pool.

QOTD:

What's your favorite discipline in the Tri... And why?

(ok I guess that's too questions...)

My favorite is running but I can't tell you why. I think its probably because its what I feel best about. I have accomplished a lot in training and completed my life goal of doing a marathon. I love biking but its not the same.  I've done a lot with swim training too. I swam a mile which I never thought I would be able to do since I really couldn't swim when I started.

Errr.... I was going to do an off-road tri this weekend, but my son's travel baseball league moved games to this weekend.  I'm glad I hadn't registered yet; I just had one of those feelings.

Its frustrating when life gets in the way of your fun isn't it. Good thing you hadn't registered yet.

How many pairs of swim goggles do you currently own?

Since I'm pretty much a newbie to swimming, I just have one pair. Next I'm going to find me a decent swim suit or two (tri shorts?), then I'll invest in a second pair of goggles.

Do you have those pretty regularly around you?

Man we won't be running any of those until May at the soonest around here!

Oh I forgot to tell you I am planning on a 60+ mile cross race in the fall - I have been trying to get into it for the past couple of years but my schedule never worked out - this year I am game

It is called Iron Cross and they run it out of southern PA (Carlisle area).

Hit and miss, but some variation all year round.  My parents live about 400 miles south of us, so I can pretty much travel the state for events.  It's just hard fitting them into my work schedule, wife's schedule, kids schedule, etc.  Why can't I just be a sponsored, professional athlete?  Oh, that's right, because I'm not that good!  Laughing

I'm excited about all the good work all you twisters did over the weekend getting our post count up. I was a little worried that I wasn't able to get online and do my part this weekend but it looks like you picked up the slack for me.  I'll do better this week and even put in some extra effort and do some extra workouts this week to help make up for my posting laziness and bring up the team workout totals.

Highly recommend two.  Good to always have a spare for race day, especially if you are using the same pair from the pool.  Tough way to start a race if you break a goggle strap while geeting ready.
