Got in another run 2.5 miles with the ten year old. we did 5 mins walk to worm up the 1 min run 1 min walk repeat as needed ending with 5 mins cool down. We made ti 2.5 miles!

Another swim tomorrow and likely Fri. I need to try to work a ride in there tomorrow to.

Seem a lot of us are starting to get into the swing of things now, its Great! I am starting to feel more positive with spring on the horizon...

Weather was decent enough yesterday to finally get a run outside after work.  Was able to squeeze 2.52 miles between a few rain showers coming through.  Hope everyone has a great day.

Who is working out today?

Had a great spin class this morning.

Would like the weather to break warmer for some outdoor riding. We've had a lot of cold drizzle lately.

Morning Everyone!

Wow its been too long. Its been an absolutely crazy few weeks but I have maintained my workouts. I swam 1400 yds and ran 4.5 miles this morning and it felt great! I got a new road bike and cant wait to take it on long rides. I have also been trying to decide my race schedule. Most of the races i want to do seem to be in september and october with beach to battleship being october 29th! There is a 5k coming up in April that i figured i should do just for fun. How is everyone else??

My schedule is looking similiar. I am doing 3 races the last weekend in August, I have nothing in Sept, then a tri and a marathon in Oct.

Morning everyone.  Does 2 days in an indoor waterpark count for any workouts.  Seemed to have to do everything twice with my 3 yr old and my 6 yr old daughter (her birthday present was the trip).  If only all the swims included the lazy river at the waterpark.  Could do that all day long and the times would be greatSmile.

That sounds like a great workout! :-

The lazy river is the best part of any water park I think.

Afternoon, all!  Back from a week (or so) of the dead.  Knee surgery a week ago Friday (March 4th), travelled for work all last week, so workouts have been non-existant.  Goal this week is to start PT on the knee and, maybe, start to spin a little.  Once the incisions heal I can get back in the water and swim; running is out for the foreseeable future.

Had a good news, bad news report after surgery:

Good News - did not need reconstruction as the ACL was a little stretched but not to the point that it needed to be replaced.  Only needed to be trimmed where is it was frayed.  Along with that, I had several meniscus tears cleaned up, some floating cartiledge "sucked out" and lots of arthritis scraped out.

Bad News - Doc reports a great deal of wear on the knee and strongly suggests that I discontinue running lest I hasten the need for replacement.  Not sure how I feel about that as I REALLY like to run.  I'm not good at it but enjoy it most of the 3 disciplines (when my knees are healthy.)

So, for now, I'll stick to spinning & swimming, try to find a good PT and look for aqua-bike races throughout the summer.  Maybe I can do a sprint toward the end of the year, pending progress and "approval" by the Doc (and the wife.)

Oh, and Ditto on the water park...

Good luck on the rehab. I whine like a little girl at aches and pains daily.....can't imagine coming back from surgery. Finally had decent enough weather to get an outside ride in. Got my "new" bike off the trainer and put 12-14 miles on. Short little shakedown ride before it got dark. Still have a few more upgrades I want to do but I think it will serve me well for now. Felt great to get off the trainer and into the wind, even if it was a bit cold (39 degrees) for me. Had a good treadmill run yesterday....held an 8:30 pace throughout....which is GREAT for me. If I can just figure this swimming out.....I'm jealous of the accomplished swimmers...I just can"t seem to put it all together. Oh well.....if it was easy everybody would do it....just have to keep at it. In the pool at 5am tomorrow.

what a glorious spring day here in NW Indiana. After work I dragged my son, who's home from college on spring break, out for a run. I worked hard and got a good 3.5 mile outdoor run in. He of course never got out of breath or broke a sweat. Back to the pool tomorrow

Happy Monday Everyone!

I had a pretty good weekend. Decided to do a half marathon Sunday morning and it was great! Finished in 1 hour 56 minutes. My plan for this week is to swim 3 days and bike two days either outside or spin class. I have really grown to like spin class but weather is definitely getting better for outdoor rides. How is everyone?

Howdy all!  First day working out in more than 3 weeks.  My logs look sad!  Did some strength workouts and stretching today.  Tomorrow will be my first spin since surgery.  I am really ready to get back at it.  I have to start slow but at least I'll be back in the saddle!  Hope everyone is well!

Merry Monday everybody....Crazy work schedule has squeezed my workout time substantially. Worked 36 out of the 48 hrs over the weekend, but did manage to get a run (treadmill) in with some ST Saturday and a swim in Sunday AM. Since I'm going to be squeezed for time I dropped my "new" bike of at the LBS for a tune......I've changed a lot of components since I bought it and wanted a pro to get it all dialed in. I'm working about 40 of the next 48 hours then heading out of town so Since I wont be riding this week it seemed like a good time.
