Buddaha1964 - 2009-01-19 12:24 PM It's not as high as I would have liked but I haven't kept completely to the schedule so I'll take what I can get.

Remember what I said about body morphing and muscle weighing a lot more than fat! Just try and keep up the good workSmile

(If nothing else - you don't want the pain of the last couple of weeks to go to waste do you?!Wink)

Mon:

  • Long swim - 35mins or so (think I'll just do lots of sets of 400m - with a TT after the initial warm up)
  • Yoga in evening

Tues:

  • Short Bike - 40min - want to do an LT test for the bike - 10WU, 20 test, 10CD (rest of night in ER!)
  • pushups+crunches

Wed:

  • Med Run - 28min - obviously this'll be slow because of night before

Thurs:

  • push ups + crunches

Fri:

  • Long Run - 35 mins - I might try the course for the Sprint in March...

Sat:

  • Long Bike - 70mins - probably an "endurance" workout from Tacx - it'll be interesting to see what the HRM says about the workout - I suspect I've never done it in an Endurance zone before!
  • pushups + crunches

Sun: Off

I've worked to hard to get the little gain I've gotten just to give it all back now. I wasn't feeling to good today so it was a real struggle to get my pushups and 1 mile in. Traveling tomorrow so I won't exercise until Wednesday morning before my visits then it's a four hour drive to the next hotel, but at least it'll be warmer than here I'm going to Wilson, NC, Smithfield VA and Portsmouth VA this trip.

Thanks for asking Tammy.

She is doing OK--not happy at all about being in the nursing home.  I have to keep telling her it isn't permanent, she is afraid she won't ever get to go home.  She starts PT tomorrow and hopefully progresses quickly.

Hey gang!  I went to my first swim clinc last night.  I have ALOT of trouble putting my face in the water.  Actually, that's not true, I don't mind putting my face in the water, it's the breathing thing that I have to get used to.  I HATE water in my nose, so I'm going to try nose plugs next time.  I think my problem is that I breathe out too fast and don't have enough air to make it to the next stroke.  I think part of it was nerves too.  I also thought I'd be more sore, but the worst soreness I have is between my shoulder blades.  Today is a recover day.

My boys are still sick.  When does it end?

I went to a swim clinic hosted by our local pro Lauren Jensen.  I felt much more confident and actually faster at the end of the 3.5 hours.  Timed myself on an 800 today and I did it in 17 minutes, which is great for me.  A big improvement because I wasn't using my full stroke potential.  I am so glad I went to get it all analyzed for me.

Me neither, I feel like I am starting over. I now can only do 150 yds without pooping out. I guess I am re-learning my stroke. Everything I had been doing before was wrong. I am going to try to put some time in pool for the next few weeks. I have another lesson on Tuesday. I am hoping when she tapes me she will tell me that I have corrected a few of my problems. Blessing in disguise, Wilson NC area was hit with 6" of snow and shut everything down I almost wasn't able to find a place to eat dinner and my favorite places were closed. I'm heading to Portsmouth VA later today hopefully the weather is a bit better there.

On the plus side I got 1.5 miles on the treadmill this morning and my pushups in as well. Still have to watch what I eat today and run again tomorrow

It's in your control panel.  Go to edit training sessions and then choose personal.  Scroll to the bottom and you can fill 'em in there.

It's definitely working here - I did my week 5, day1 last night and just realised in total I did 130 and the sets are definitely getting easier - although I've just noticed that it means I've only got 5 more sessions and I've to get from a current max of about 45 to double that!! (gulp!Surprised)

On a different note: is everyone Obama'ed out yet? Our tv news is implying that every American is having a week's celebration (I'm assuming that's standard tabloid exageration?!Wink)

I tried the Big Gear Strength Spinerval last night---OUCH!  I pedaled with two legs during the sets with single leg drills in the BCR and 12 cog.  How the heck does anyone pedal with one leg in that gear?

If anyone is interested in a review, I have the following Spinervals:

2.0 Sweating Buckets 50 minutes
5.0 Mental Toughness 90 minutes
8.0 Recovery and Technique 45 minutes
9.0 Have Mercy 120 minutes
11.0 Big Gear Strength 55 minutes
13.0 Tough Love 3 hours
16.0 Aero Base Builder I  80 minutes
17.0 Aero Base Builder II 75 minutes
18.0 Aero Base Builder III 70 minutes
24.0 Hillacious 60 minutes
25.0 Aero Base Builder V 120 minutes
Virtual Training Ride 1.0   60 minutes

These are a nice change of pace for getting some good "coached" training sessions on your trainer.  You can do the whole workout or pick and choose certain sets.  He recommends specific gearing during the sets but you can always adjust to your ability/conditioning.  The website has specific information and some previews of the DVDs.

Thank you Terri! I have been looking all over for it!

Lori, what do you think of the recovery and technique one? I am a sucky biker and could use some instruction on how to pedal.
