Subject: RE: IronAnneKidd's Mentor Group - Closed for business!Afternoon, all! Back from a week (or so) of the dead. Knee surgery a week ago Friday (March 4th), travelled for work all last week, so workouts have been non-existant. Goal this week is to start PT on the knee and, maybe, start to spin a little. Once the incisions heal I can get back in the water and swim; running is out for the foreseeable future. Had a good news, bad news report after surgery: Good News - did not need reconstruction as the ACL was a little stretched but not to the point that it needed to be replaced. Only needed to be trimmed where is it was frayed. Along with that, I had several meniscus tears cleaned up, some floating cartiledge "sucked out" and lots of arthritis scraped out. Bad News - Doc reports a great deal of wear on the knee and strongly suggests that I discontinue running lest I hasten the need for replacement. Not sure how I feel about that as I REALLY like to run. I'm not good at it but enjoy it most of the 3 disciplines (when my knees are healthy.) So, for now, I'll stick to spinning & swimming, try to find a good PT and look for aqua-bike races throughout the summer. Maybe I can do a sprint toward the end of the year, pending progress and "approval" by the Doc (and the wife.) Oh, and Ditto on the water park... |
