Felt great on both of them (nutrition seemed to be on-point for both...and for the days leading up to it too). Let's hope that I got it dialed in and everything can come together for race day. It's going to be a sufferfest for me too. During training I've been lazy, had a kid (well...my wife did), gone on vacation for a week, a 5 day stay for my oldest kid in the hospital, Thanksgiving, Christmas, laziness, excuses, and more laziness and excuses. Since this is my first (and probably only) IM, I'm going to have fun, smile a lot - may be faked, and complete this journey. This is my one shot. I'm either going to do it or live the rest of my life saying "I almost did an Ironman". Totals for this month Swim - 12,200m (have an hour tonight) Bike - 584 miles (have a 2.5 hour trainer session on Tuesday) Run - 53 miles (pretty light...) 19 days boys and girls......1 - 9..... Oh there will be NO TALK of "almost"...You gonna DO IT!! I will be right there with ya having fun and just enjoying it! I am going to do IMFL also this year, so I am using this one to 'get my feet wet'....What ya going to wear? If I see ya slackin, I will give you a pep talk and get your butt movin lol. You cant miss my bike, it will be the only one with Batman Symbols on the rear disc I bet
. I'm doing IMFL this year too. I've got a really soft goal for this race, so I'll be trying to just have fun with you guys. |

Florida | Subject: RE: Memorial Hermann Ironman Texas : Official Thread Just finished my final big sessions. Did ~116 bike with 5.5 mile run brick yesterday and 16 mile run today. Run was probably 5 miles shorter than my plan called for but I didn't want to push it with my off and on sore ankle. I'm feeling really confident on the swim and bike, not so much on the run. I'm contemplating a recovery swim in a bit, but I really want to make a cake and eat the entire thing. Nothing sounds sweeter than carrot cake and taper time!!! |

Oh awesome!! We will have a HUGE group at IMFL...Maybe we will meet at IMTX! More people I know, the more fun I have! I will be staying at the Hilton Homewood suites in TX and Laketown Wharf in FL. Only two of us racing IMFL in our group, the others are going to get in for 2014. For IMTX I hope to get sub 12:30hrs, but will be OK with sub 13hrs, and will really just be happy to finish and not feel like dying....IMFL I will be going for low to mid 10hr. I am taking 3 months off work just to train for FL. |

Oh come on....You HAVE to go into this with more than that! Just get through your swim, go EASY on the first 40-50 miles of your bike, give a little more 50-90 miles, then whatever you have left for the last 22 miles...Then just run/walk the run, and you will still have a good time... Just think EASY, and then go a little bit easier than that for the first half of the bike and run, then try to finish stong...Or just finish! |

After this weekends workouts, I'm confident that I'll finish.....barring something out of my control. I had some good workouts this weekend...... I avergage about 16mph on the bike and running is in the 12-12:30 range.....unless it all comes shockingly together on race day, we're looking at a 15:30 race. I'll be estatic with anything sub-15. Y'all just save some food/beer at the finish line! |

Expert 2547 The Woodlands, TX | Subject: RE: Memorial Hermann Ironman Texas : Official Thread mikiefaith - 2013-04-29 8:52 AM Thanks TJ for having the open water swim on Saturday in Lake Woodlands. I was lacking in my swim confidence so needed to tackle this demon. Went without wetsuit and completed two loops in 1:33. One loop was supposed to be 1.2 miles but everyone was getting 1.3+ . Having barely learned to swim two years ago, I will take that time. Just looking for 1:30-1:35 in the race. With the overcaste conditions, found some good landmarks to site off of as all the splashing in the race sometimes hides the buoys. For those looking at the longterm forcast...Race is cloudy in the morning and warming up to 90 in the afternoon. That is more like it What is the update on the chipseal section? Glad I can help. There were a lot of disappointed swimmers on Saturday, so a 1.3 mile loop makes sense. I was under the weather (still am) so I didn't get in to compare. I had it confirmed on very good authority that the road would be fixed, so I'm not worried. If you remember, 149 got a new coat just a week or so before the race in 2011. Oh and water temp was 74 this morning...but all of you already know this since you like my Swim Shops FB page!! |

A finish is a finish, though... Prior to Saturday, I was hoping for sub-14 and would have been happy with a sub-15, but truly would have been happy with sub-17. I know three weeks is a long time to work out whatever I did to my shoulder in my fall, but my range of motion is crap right now, so I'm most worried about the swim. I think the bike and run is not going to be affected even if I feel the same way then as I do now. I'm in the same boat as Bradley from a 1 and done standpoint, so crossing the finish line is most important. If you see a guy with two arms swimming with just one, you've probably found me!...hopefully it doesn't come to that, but I was undertrained on swimming to begin with having only gotten in one 4000m straight swim so far (last week). Last year was hoping to finish and best case would be low 15 hrs. I had barely gotten into triathlon 8 months prior to doing IMTX. Ended up sub 14hrs and would have done better except for some cramping on run. Your times are exactly what I was thinking I would be doing in 2012. |
