I have already committed to running the rock n roll HM in San Jose with my dd one of those weekends...if it works out in my schedule I may think of it. Have you done it before? or are you from this area? **************************** When I am not in the desert I am stationed at Travis AFB (Vacaville). Here is the link for the race -- http://www.marintriathlon.com/. I have signed up and I am fairly sure that I will be home by then for the race. OMG!!! My BIL/SIL live in Vacaville. Do you know any Endo's? |

NM - darn...too far west for this Washingtonian (DC, that is).dcrunningdiva - 2008-06-03 7:55 AM I guess I'm in some kind of "funk!" Have any of you had this problem? If so, how did you get passed it? I know this June challenge is going to be very helpful to me because I know you guys are here to support me through this. I have a 65-mile goal for running this month so I'm going to need some inspiration! Thanks for reading my novella... ...Kenny Black......every year we do our annual "Toga Run" where we all dress up in togas at lunchtime and run a couple of miles to a local restaurant in full toga outfits and then eat Ceaser salads (of course) and then run back......I always look forward to these and it is a good motivator to get out and run and prepare for it. Anyway.....I am sure you will find your way out of the funk before long.....and will all be keeping a look out on your logs to keep you on track......with plenty of inspires .......and butt kickins (if necessary)....LOL Hey dcrunning Diva..........here's a challenge for ya.......that might give some motivation for running and help with your "funk" If you can get yourself out there running and get a decent way close to the goal numbers in the next week....I MAY post some toga run pics .....!!!!
Not that I wouldn't want to see you in some toga pics but I AM reaching my goals for this challenge...I'm just in the funk running them. 15 cycling and 1 running mile this morning! (the one running was for the purpose of a BRICK - not my scheduled running miles). |

Next time you'll have to see ME when you come to the east coast! I do love visiting DC! I wouldn't mind seeing the new Nationals ballpark. We saw them play last year at RFK. Not really the best baseball atmosphere. New stadium looks like a step in the right directions. Now to just get people in the seats... |

I have made it a habit to run AT LEAST 1/2 - 1 mile after every bike ride...unless that said bike ride ends up being my longest to date or something crazy like that. It helps so much on race day (well, I'm assuming it will help...I haven't actually had a race since March - my first - to compare it to!). |

Oh...when you come to the Nationals ballpark you MUST stay at the National Harbor!!! My dh and I celebrated our 10th anniversary there! It is awesome! Edited by dcrunningdiva 2008-06-04 9:53 AM |

SUCH a good idea! no kidding! i always think i'll be fine, then i get off my bike, and feel like i have a boulder strapped to the inside of my thighs!! kinda hard to run! and i always feel like such a doofus taking off on the run @ races when i KNOW i'm shuffling like an old man. usually takes me about a half mile to get my legs back! does that feeling get BETTER with doing it a lot? or do you just get used to it? i think it's brilliant to practice it though! |

Well, I haven't been "bricking" for too long (i.e. about 3-4 months) but I can tell a noticable difference by doing the 1/2 - 1 mile after reach ride. I still feel like I have a stick stuck up my butt but the stick doesn't feel as big as it used to! |
