Veteran 340 | Subject: RE: Show us your Ghoulies - Halloween Run Challenge Page #2 Morning!-----Morning......hummm which one sounds better. Today I am supposed to have off, but crime does not stop for holidays. I just wish people would be more considerate of my off time. Kids are going to school, and thought I would take a run outside. Not sure it will be speedy, my leg is really hurting. I walked home from the store (a pissed off walk) and my screws or plate has been hurting since. I think it is easier to run than to walk, of course it might of been the shoes I had on. |

Stacie - I hope the boy feels better soon. Sick kids are no fun! Kendra - take care of that knee. Not only do you need it for the run, but it may come in handy for giving holiday-crooks a swift kick in the goods. Now it's time to go braid my daughter's hair and enjoy my coffee.... |

I'm making a Mediterranean-ish salad with vinagrette dressing, chicken, and Italian sausage, and some garlic bread. Good stuff! good stuff indeed! the salad would go great with my chili and cornbread! and sounds much better then my boring lettuce/tomato/cucumber salad. That WOULD go good with chili and cornbread. mmm, cornbread... Sorry, got distracted. The salad's really easy to make. Romaine lettuce, cucumber, red onion, calametta olives, strawberries, feta cheese, and the aforementioned vinagrette. Sometimes I also add green onions, carrots, etc. The nice thing with salads is it's easy to add things and difficult to screw it up. My kind of recipe! sounds good even for breakfast! I would have figured all the ingredients...but the strawberries! mmmmmmmsounds good...so, how was it??? did you add any extras??? |

We are 3-1 so far this season. It's a casual rec league, but who am I kidding...I'd rather win than lose. Played half back so ran alot. Not part of my monthly goal, but a great workout. Forces me to do some speedwork. woo hoo...sounds like a good team! and sounds like you found a new position to play! I played ultimate frisbee and know what it takes to play! good cleats, strong ankles and lots of running....so hoping you were able to count this as a running session!?!? congrats on the 3-1...did you make any or all of the goals????? |

The strawberries were actually the inspiration she-who-must-be-obeyed a few weeks ago, and their sweetness goes really well with the salty calametta olives. Add in the chicken and Italian sausage and it was extremely yummy, even with just those 5 or 6 ingredients. No extras this time, but I'm open to any and all suggestions for next time... |

I was also a Lucky Charms kid. I always left as many of the marshmallows in the bowl as I could so the last few bites were as sugary as possible. Close second for me is Golden Grahams. Just good stuff there... Edited by iowagander 2009-10-12 10:05 AM |

I've always running in either tri shorts or basketball style gym shorts. I must say the difference in gym and running shorts was an eye-opener. x2 on that... One of my first runs this past spring was a local 8k that I ran with a few friends. When I showed up in basketball shorts, my friend (who's an experienced runner) mentioned I'd probably enjoy running more in shorts designed for that activity. I didn't think much of it until I experienced some, ahem, chaffage after the run. The next day I got my first real running shorts and haven't worn the basketball shorts out running since. Yes, and running shorts are, ahem, much more liberating! no really? please do tell us more!??!?? No realllly~ Well with tri shorts, your goodies are all jammed up tween some lycra and a chamois. With gym shorts, you have to wear some sort of brief (I prefer dri-fit material boxer-briefs). Running shorts have a built in liner that negates the need for said briefs. For cooler days I did find a pair of Asics that had a compresion-style boxer brief. I hope I made that sound as clinical as possible to deprive you of any possible enjoyment you may have derived for such a description yes very clinical indeed! in otherwords no crammed unit in the shorts! more room, and less lycra and chamois...makes for a happy unit! sounds reasonable! sooo why do I see all those lycra shorts in Ironman and Olympic tris?! did they not get that memo about comfort in racing!???? |

I've always running in either tri shorts or basketball style gym shorts. I must say the difference in gym and running shorts was an eye-opener. and may I just say ~~~'specially when you run distances you run! and I can probably very safely say you will never go back to running in gym shorts! so any more bottles of beer knocked off the wall today??? 8 bottles knocked off the wall followed by 8 bottles consumed at the local pub after seeing Zombieland! well then....sounds like you are a new member of the FBI FUN BEER-DRINKING INDIVIDUAL hope you had your bike and crash helmet for the ride home! or better yet you were home! just looking out for you - ya know!?!?! I sure wouldn't want you ending up in the klinker...how would you finish your 100 miles for the monthly challenge and continue to knock all those bottles off the wall??? What I mean is ~ that would stink going to jail. hehe That's why I always carry my own personal DD...that way if we have a few too many, she goes to jail and I get a ride home J/K! She rarely has more than 2 drinks and never more than 2 if she's driving me home. ahhh very smart indeed! just make sure her two drinks are not long island teas! again...just looking out for you...and her! |
