kcarroll - 2010-03-08 9:40 AM Morning Ghoulies.  Sounds like everyone had lots going on this weekend.  It was beautiful weather here and the snow is almost gone....yippeee.  I am ready for spring.  Jealous of all the bikers.  I don't have the gear and it's not quite warm enough yet.  I really should go check out what's on sale at the lbs.

I ran 7 on Saturday but my knee was really grumping and I had to walk the downhills.  Not a good sign.  So, I swam on Sunday.  Turns out it was Pervert Day at our Y.  Stacie, do you have those at yours?  Pool was fairly crowded.  Guy in the lane next to me swam maybe 100 - 150 yards in the 30 mins he was in the water.  Mostly he just stood at the wall adjusting himself.  Not sure who was more appalled, me or the poor guy sharing the lane with him.

You're not getting runner's knee are you Kim?

and

EWWWWW!!!

x2 on both! Make sure you RICE that knee and heal quick. Also, maybe it would be a good idea to have a kro-bar at the end of your lane next to your personal effects. Just sayin...

Sounds like someone needed to accidentally pop someone in the lower mid section with a kick to the groin.

Not that I have pool supremacy but it sort of irks me that someone is taking a lane that someone else could be using by just sitting in the water basically.  Go to the zero entry pool and stay out of the lap lane area please!

Saturday afternoon I had these 2 dimwits keep jumping in and out of my lane when there were 3 open lanes.  Kind of confusing to someone like me - anyone else care to let me know why they thought this was an integral part of their training?

Practicing crowded ows starts????

Seriously, there is something about a pool that brings out the the weirdos.

I was just wondering the other day how much it would cost to buy the Y. Then I wouldn't have to deal with all the people there. Then it occured to me that I own acreage. It would probably just be cheaper to build the parts I want, I don't need them all.

I'll have to play the lottery a little more frequently if I'm going to build my own gym. If I do though free lifetime membership to all Ghoulies!!!

Such a giver I'd be all over that! I'm actually contemplating a membership to the Y since my planned swim on base this morning was postponed due to weather (outdoor pool). I know most of you Ghoulies are members, so do you think it's worth it?

ironannekidd - 2010-03-08 12:01 PM Hey Bill I have a question for you...

Is there a difference between cross country skiing and touring?

When we were hiking in the snow yesterday we were taking about cross country skiing and someone made mention of touring ski's. I know nothing about skiing, so I don't know what he was talking about.

Ann(e) - there are touring skis/skate skis/backcountry skis.  Depending on the nature of where you are skiing is what you would use.

I have traditional that I don't ever use because my backcountry skis are wider so they work better where I like going - off the beaten path.

Skate skiing is a blast and I plan on getting some of those next year or the year after - killer workout!

Traditional only work if you are somewhere where tracks are put down via a groomer.  Other than that I would go bc myself.

Nope no cross country tracks. Just some tracks made by a truck that looked like it was playing in the snow.

Dear Toolish Bosses of Ann Speelman,

Ms. Speelman will be required to leave work this afternoon for therapeutic reasons. She has mandatory participation in manually-generated asphalt transportation therapy. Please excuse her absence and expect many more to follow in the months to come.

Sincerely,
Dr. Doofenschmirtz

The last place I worked there was a guy in my department that was a complete idiot. And I mean that from the bottom of my heart. He was full of $h1t but would talk nice to anyone who didn't know computers while completely blowing smoke. He had no idea what he was talking about and he rarely did anything because he just didn't know how. We nicknamed him Doofenschmirtz.

Definitely you want back country then.  It is more fun anyways!

Thanks for the tips there Bill. If I ever move back up into "those" latitudes I plan on investing in some good Xcountry skis.

Speaking of off-road stuff, I talked to a guy at the bike event I volunteered at who was on a Salsa roadie. I told him that you were looking at their cross frames and he had nothing but good things to say. I snapped a pic of his roadie frame for you - it's in my album.

BTW, nice new "rank!"

From my office, about 15 minutes to a swimmable beach. From home, 45 minutes. I need a wetsuit and a LOT more training before I can start doing OWS though. The sea-water here is still below 60.
