Expert ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Ok, I'm caught up but can't reply to more because I have a meeting soon. Boo work! ![]() Up for tonight is a run, but it's raining, so it may have to be on the treadmill. . . Or maybe I'll skip it and just do the trainer. I can't decide which I like better, but at least the trainer is at home! We'll see. If I'm motivated and bored enough, maybe I'll do both! |

Expert ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() I woke up at 2:00 with my chest packed full of crud. Not sure where it came from, but I"m going to go sweat it out later today. As a bonus, I looked out the window and saw another 2" of SNOW! I'll go to the Y for a short ride and a short run. Hopefully it will melt off like it did yesterday! |

Member ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Hi A-Teamers! I just wanted to say that I had a really great swim in the pool this morning! I did my first interval workout (not pushing hard enough apparently, since I didn't feel like puking ![]() On a completely different note, I've been pondering something that I thought I might as well throw out to all of you. As you may have guessed from my puny post-count, I'm very new to BT and to triathlons in general. I've since come to wonder; do most of you more experienced folks do double workouts in a day? I see a lot of "I swam this morning, getting on the trainer this afternoon..." and the such. It makes sense to double up in a day, I think, but I've been wondering how to structure it. Double up one or two days a week, or more? Hard workout in the morning, easy in the afternoon? Two relatively easy workouts? One long, one short? Just curious what my fellow teammates are up to... |

Expert ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Except for Saturday, all my days are double workout. M,W,F - abs and core routine, then run. T,Th - swim and bike Sat - swim with our masters group There have been times when I've cut back to only two training sessions per discipline per week, but I like it better this way. Great swimming! |

Errrrrr.... So, changed the plan and went for a little run. Pace was pretty pedestrian. My legs are still sore from running stairs three days ago. Planning on taking the boys to the movies later, baseball practice, then hopefully to the pool for my first swim of the month. come on now...at least she washed them and didn't put them in the dryer! ![]() ![]() I knew one of the ladies would stick up for her! |

Only problem with baseball is you're gone from your family for a long time. Not to mention, the constant re-location if you're being traded all the time. I find it funny that know one has said triathlete. I know my body couldn't handle that full-time. |

No next week when the kids are back at school I won't be able to drag my arse out of bed! It is storming pretty good here...lots of lightning, rain, rain go away because Kim has a run to do today! I was not able to ride to work yesterday like I wanted to ![]() Have a good day A TEAM! About time we gave you your weather back. Nice, sunny skies here in California. |

I'm not really into sports so for me it would be something related to the tri sports. i'm a horrible swimmer so that one is out. Maybe mountain biking or a runner. Not as much money in that though. One thing I've learned though, money only motivates for so long if you're doing something you don't enjoy so I'd rather make less money and do something I like. |

Member![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() tri808 - 2010-04-06 2:53 AM If you could be a professional athlete in any sport...which would it be? Tossup between soccer and ice hockey. Soccer is my first love among all sports, but ice hockey is just so incredible to watch. There's something about racing around on the ice with knives strapped to your feet, chasing around a puck that can barely be seen that is just...impressive. I don't think I could ever measure up to other women hockey players though. |

Running on Asphalt sucks. I felt ok while I was doing it, but I am feeling slight twinges in my shins now. I probably should have mixed in a little more walking. Howdy Mel ![]() ![]() Concrete is definately the worst, especially concrete with slight grade for drainage! HORRIBLE. For my street runs, I try to stay off the sidewalks and run on the asphalt or dirt next to concrete if possible. I'm with you on this....but this is usually how I have to run(sidwalks for shorter runs) for my long run if I don't want to do the same loop over and over! I usually run through the parkways, so I will run against traffic so I "even" out my hips on the way back! I've found that if I don't make an effort to "even out," my knee on one side will start to bug me. I wish there were more trails close by. I really enjoy trail running and I don't have to worry about "evening out" part way through the run. We're a couple of months away from having any open trails though. We just got another snow storm come blowing through last night. Kind of strange we're getting so much snow now, especially since we had a very mild winter. |

Master![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() rnihill - 2010-04-06 5:59 AM What I really think I am going to do today is come up with a plan for my swim session tonight. I could swim the same pace forever and ever... And I am never going to speed it up without some sets of sprints, etc. Plus, I'm getting bored in the pool. So, in order to keep me from getting bored at work, my goal today is to come up with a fun plan for the pool tonight! I posted this last month and some people really liked it. So, I will share again: http://www.ntcmastersswim.blogspot.com/ I've been following plan "b." It can be challenging at times. |

I like to laugh and goof off, so baseball provides enough breaks during the game where you can do so...while in the dugout, etc. I'm not as interested in playing sports like football where you have to be so intense all the time. I think being a pro golfer would be fun too...but honestly, I don't like the stress of trying to shoot low. I just like to go out there and hit the ball...if I hit it in the lake...ahhh...whatever...give me another beer. LOL - great attitude Jay. Go for it!!! Travel isn't a big thing for me any more. I used to travel for work and it gets old after a while. My wife loved it because she would go to see the sights while I was at work. |

Hmmmmmm - Golfer I guess because it is one against the field and the course. Guess that is why I would be called an introvert ![]() If it were just me on the course, then I could relax and enjoy and feel like its me against the course. That doesn't usually work out unless you sneak on a course at night, which is a lot of fun if you don't get caught. Typically there are a lot of other people standing around waiting for you which makes me tense and there goes my game. |

First, you should be very pleased with those 100s. Those are good times! As for the training, the only workouts I double up on a normal basis is swim plus a run or bike. I find this less stressful on my body than brick workouts (bike, run, ick). I only do bricks a couple times a month and keep them very small in distance, usually around 20 bike and 3-5 run. I definately avoid double runs. Hope that helps. |

Does it have to be a sport where there are real professional teams now? I completely suck at volleyball but I would say beach volleyball. Anything that would get me on the beach everyday. In my opinion, it doesn't get any better than sand between the toes and not having to get dressed up everyday. I used to tell my mom when I was growing up that I wanted to be a professional beach bum when I grew up. She was thrilled. ![]() Didn't think about volleyball. That's something that would be fun to do for a living. |

You enter in your time for a certain distance (I forget, it's either 100 or 500) then it spits out a workout for you to do. You could do a different workout every day if you want! Ooooh! I love it. Thanks! |
