Am I crazy for wishing I was starting my IMTX training right now?

Guess it's because my current training is going so well.

I feel ya Dennis - My training plan is all mapped out and staring me in the face. It's giving me those googlie eyes like the stack of money in the Geico commercials.

Recent successes are getting me dangerously convinced that my current "super good perfect day" goal is a lot more achievable than I first believed.

You mean you haven't read every page of this thread?!?!

Check page 12...I went into WAY too much detail, but I was excited.

Today I had a major reality check.  I had a 4 hour ride in prep for ironstar and it hurt at the end (not to mention the run afterwards). I did 80 miles today and my longest to date has been 60. I think I got away from respecting the IM distance/pacing so I am down to earth again.  I am glad I figured this out today rather than during IM training.  I saw LOTS of people on the super secret IMTX route towards richards.

Wow - that training plan makes me dizzy. If you're on path to reaching your "perfect conditions" goal then big ups to you!

I read that post and looked back at my training for IMFL 08. It was pretty pathetic and my finish time shows it! I'm much more motivated this year to actually TRAIN to do more than just finish. Consistancy is a beautiful thing.

Don't sweat it Patrick, it's a good thing that you realized the size of the endeavour but don't let it blow your mind. It's a serious distance but also keep in mind that it is done at a very aerobic effort level. You'll be alright, before I did my first IM I used to have nightmares about DNF, drowning, mechanicals, you name it (and my race was flawless).

Hey y'all,

Picked up some of the Powerbar drink (Lemon lime) that will be used on the IM course.  I have been using it for the last week and I really like it.  The flavor is not as strong as Gatorade or Powerade but it has more of a salty after-taste.  Not super strong but noticeable.  I have a pretty sensitive stomach and was concerned when I heard about WTC switching to the new PowerBar drink but so far so good!

My only complaint is it was a little pricey:  $19.99 for the mix which makes 52 - 8oz servings.

I've drank that mix for a long time when I first started riding. I've always liked it. I agree, it is a little pricey compared to a big tub a powdered gatorade. Glad to see I can get it local finally. I used to have to order it online because there wasn't a place I could get it. I might go pick some up tomorrow. I have to go get water filters to brew some imperial stout and will be on that side of town
