Expert 1566![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Subject: RE: Razorxp & KCgolf RFP group! CLOSEDKeri - What are the longest runs and swims in the plan? Those distances do seems a little aggresive for the type of plan it is. Even if you are just going to train for a 10K you wouldn' want to start out at 6 miles the first week. I have done 3 BT plans and had oneM had really good experience, one HIM was ok and I didn't really like the offseason plan they offered. KeriKadi - 2012-01-20 2:15 PM razorxp - 2012-01-20 1:44 PM It is not an advanced plan. I can do all of the distances. However, to me it seems silly to do more than the distances from the beginning. My first long bike was longer than the race 16 weeks before the race. This weekend my second long bike is supposed to be 28+ miles. I don't umind the bike being a bit long nut week 2 had a 2100 swim on it, that just seems extreme. Why would I want to get burned out so far in advance? My logs are up to date. My swim is around 2/100, bike around 16, slower on trainer, run around 12/mile. Keri: I assume that is an advanced plan for someone just getting ready for the season who are already at those miles. I would look to a beginner plan and add from there if the mileage is too much.

Veteran 399![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Subject: RE: Razorxp & KCgolf RFP group! CLOSEDJust got back from a great swim. Had the middle lane all to myself. after warmup did 2 sets of 16*25 yards at full speed with a 300 yard recover in between. kept pace of 21 seconds per 25 for every rep.
OK - so I found a great article on HR for bike. It gets a bit physiologically detailed but is very readable. The article shows some differences between bike and run HR and tells how to figure out Max HR for biking http://www.cptips.com/hrmntr.htm |

Master 1790![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() \Windsor, Ontario | Subject: RE: Razorxp & KCgolf RFP group! CLOSEDGood Morning Team. On the mend here I think - which is nice - still a bit of a stuffy head and can't be to far from the kleenex box but I am hanging in. Up and at is early this morning - 6:30 swim and was the only one in the pool for the first 20 minutes - loved it. I am guessing the heavy snow and crappy roads got everyone else off to a slow start. Did a nice relaxing 2000 meters - some drills, laps, drills etc. Was going to do a trainer ride this afternoon but since decided to get it done after my swim - so I just finished a nice 45 minute spin with some one leg drills - still just taking it easy until the cold is completly gone. SkinnyarmBrian - that is some great swimming my friend - I could not swim like you or Tim if I had flippers and paddles on LOL - man this team is fast in the water. Have a great weekend everyone - curling practice with my team this afternoon KC |

That is a good question, I've been afraid to look, guess I should check that out. Woke up yesterday with a a wicked cold took Emergen'C, probiotics, Zicam, used the netti pot and slept about 12 hours. I think I am a little better today but my head is throbbing. I guess I'm glad the symptoms changed hopefully tomorrow will be even better. Yesterday was supposed to be a trainer ride and today a run. However, this early in the season I think me getting better is more important so I am going to rest again today and plan to ride tomorrow. Distance will be determined by how I feel. Does anybody here have a Computrainer? If so what kind? It is something I am looking into. I need to find out if my tri store is going to carry them, with the discount I could make it happen. Monique - I am right there with you on the school thing and everyone always asks if my Dad was in the miliary. My Mom is a 'fly by the seat of her pants, move in the middle of the night' kind of gal. Honestly, we were usually running from someone or something. Fifth grade was 3 different schools in 3 different states. They didn't realize until 7th grade I missed long division all together because one school had not done it yet and the other school had already covered it. |

We ran in the indoor marathon relay today and had an amazing time. We split the relay up into 4 laps at a time, so a little over 1 mile each time. I ended up running 7 miles, and had a couple miles under 8 min./mile pace. My sister in law did great, especially for her first race ever. We set up the order so that she would be the finisher- and she full out sprinted it home. We finished in 3:36:10, 47th place out of 105 teams. I attached a picture of our team from today. We are already talking about running again next year. SA Brian- Thanks for the info. I had my heart rate zones tested separately for the bike and the run, but I am definetely going to read the article you posted. probably tomorrow, since I can barely keep my eyes open now. New user 122![]() Chicago, IL | Subject: RE: Razorxp & KCgolf RFP group! CLOSEDExcellent job on the race, Jennifers! Oh no, I've given everyone my cold! I didn't end up running the Polar Dash yesterday. We got 6 inches of snow on Friday! A buddy of mine posted on FB that there were parts of the path that were not plowed and a couple of the bike course escorts wiped out! I'm glad I didn't run it although it's a little disappointing to have signed up for a race and not do it. Funny thing though is that the race was postponed from the week before b/c of all the snow we were supposed to get the Thursday before. Turns out the weather was worse yesterday than the original race day! Needless to say, I haven't worked out since Wednesday morning. I'm feeling much better but had a coughing fit in the middle of the night last night and I'm still pretty congested. I'm ready to get back into it though. There's a yoga class at my gym this afternoon that I'm planning on going to. It'll be a good way to ease back into it. Hope everyone's weekend is going well! |

Tim - great background story - 20 years later you are going to rock your IM Keri - wish I had a computrainer but don't need the expense right now, that is more of a want for me and not a need. So how are you at long division now? I just skipped class when that was going on. It was a lot easier then moving Deb - with all this talk of HR training, I may have to seriously revisit it. Feeling a bit better thanks. Looks like we may be the sickies again afterall based on Sarah's post. I have the garmin 310XT but you should be able to change that setting Here is a youtube link I found that may help you for the 305. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Oa1X_Ebl27Y Sarah - get better. I had a good ride today. I was able to go hard for 15 which I really need to do, I don't go hard enough on the bike. I ran into a wall with about 2 miles to go and the headwind didn't help but it was a good workout.

Well, we had 3/4 inch snow/sleet/ice last night, so I willnot be running today. Planned 20 mile run. The ice came first - my kids had a great time sliding around on the road, but icannot run on it. And, I decided that 160 laps of my gyms track is not going to happen. Heading over to the pool for a speed swim, try the run tomorrow.
Oh come on thats not that many laps! lol Sounds like a hamster wheel. My luck I would loose count and do way too many or probably way too few. |

Keri did you look at any other plans for the OLY? I just glanced at what is available and some did not look to bad. The one your doing sure seems advanced to me if this is your 1st OLY. I do have a CT they are great to use in the winter. I think there are only a couple pro and coach model (not sure). Do you have a power meter? Only reason I ask is alot of people will buy a powermeter first as you can use it year around, while the CT most use only in the winter. Good luck either way you will love both devices. |

It is really slippery here tonight, I actually wiped out on the way into the house this afternoon with three bags of groceries. Smacked my knee on the ice so now its nice and tender and bruised. Kinda ironic that I now have to apply ice to my knee to make it feel better... I did good with my goal so far this week...tomorrow is an off day (switched to mondays now that classes are starting up) but the rest of the week looks pretty challenging. So we'll see how it goes now that the madness begins! Good night!

Hope you are all resting up. Mine got worse last Wednesday and hasn't gotten much better. Finally went to an urgent care to see the doc yesterday and it turns out I have a sinus infection. I was doing the neti pot for a little bit before it got worse and then just got lazy about doing it. Oops!
Anyhow, doc gave me some antibiotics and steroid nasal spray to help with inflammation.
