uhcoog - 2013-04-30 8:14 AM Only one training session today so I guess my taper has begun.
We're all becoming slackers

Seriously, I have been completely wiped out since this past weekend ... cut my swim short yesterday morning, but I was able to get my run in last night. This mornings trainer sessions was a complete miss (I decided I wanted sleep more than I wanted to get up at 5am and ride). Hoping this evenings run session goes a bit better. I feel healthy, which is the first time in 3 years leading up to IMTX that I can say that, but the body is just tired! I think the work these last 2 weeks finally caught up to me. Those were bigger numebrs than I have ever put down in training, let alone on back to back weekends.

Now I'm just into the nervous questions......

Full change after swim and after bike?

Was planning on swimming in jammers, changing into bike kit, then full change for run (new socks, shorts, and shirt).

I'm not worried about times (I will change as quick as possible and not lolly-gag around) and my thought is to be more comfortable rather than shaving 8 - 9 minutes off my time.

Wearing tri kit with swimskin over it for the swim and just tri kit for the rest of it.

I plan on changing shorts at each transition...jammers to bike shorts to tri shorts (I like running in tri shorts now better than running shorts).  I will swim shirtless because I feel like my tri top is a bit of a drag and I'm certainly not going to drop any more money than I have for this race for a swim skin.

Wear what is most comfortable and logical for you. Don't worry about anyone else.

Last year wore a trisuit the entire time except for addition of bike shorts on ride. This year doing jammers and then trisuit as the shoulders of the suit chaffed my neck on the swim.

Oh and water temp was 74 this morning...but all of you already know this since you like my Swim Shops FB page!!

I did see that...I like the person who said to put Ice in the lake on the 17th! Can you handle that for us

You're asking the wrong guy! I'm pouring all my hot coffee in there every morning!

+1. Wetsuits suck. Don't be wasting that Lola Hawaiian Grog! maybe drink the coffee, then pee in the lake.

I typically get hot really quickly. However, my reasoning for the trisuit was two fold:

1) didnt want a nasty tan on my lower back from the seperation of shirt and shorts

2) the trisuit lets ice stay on my stomach on the run to cool me down. Could move the ice all around without it falling out with a singlet. And every now and then I got a little ice in the under carriage and felt nice as well.

I never wear hats when running but did in this race to keep the sun out of my face and to keep ice and sponges on my head. On the run I wanted to keep my core temp as low as possible.

I found this was a great way for me to keep cool. If I hit an aid station that had ice, I always dumped a cup down the shorts. You would be amazed at how well that seems to cool the body. I tried ice in my hat, but it just gave me a headache.

Swimming in just tri shorts, throwing a tri top on the rest of the way. I'm trying to make it as simple as possible! I've done 90+miles on the bike in the tri shorts so i'll be fine...

Tri shorts and top only for me. I did not know we could go without a shirt on the swim...May throw top on after swim then.

Will wear new socks for bike and swim and will put an extra pair of socks in SN bag for the run (sometimes a fresh pair of socks will go a long way when you are in pain).

I normally agree with wetsuits sucking, but due to winter, and me being out of country for the month of warm weather we have had and not being able to swim, I would welcome a wetsuit swim for this one just to save energy for the rest of the day . I get home May 6th and will do a few open water swims and see how I feel (I am sure I will be fine), and make my decision then if I want to just not risk it and eat the 10 minutes.

Hahaha!!!  I've been doing the same for my fiance.  It's the only way he'll remember anything about anything that's going on over the weekend.

I figure better now than race week.  I'd be tempted to tell her to put her big girl panties on and figure it out herself.

This ^^^^^

It's the least of my worries about the race weekend, but will be attending the dinner solo since support crew won't be coming until Friday night...I never look forward to the awkward, "can I sit here?" environment of things like this.
