The Party Report…..   

Warm Up: After a 2:30 meeting yesterday everyone switched off so that was the end of ‘work’ for the day.

There were 8 make up artists set up in the atrium focusing on eyes, so many of the staff had booked in I sat with some of the girls while they got made up. Just gossiping, finding out what people are wearing, giggling at one girl running around with her air in rollers!

About 5pm they started serving drinks so it was classic to watch all these make up artists working on the girls while they sipped wine, beer or champers… very cool!

About 5:30 I took off to the gym to primp and preen, dress, shoes, straighten hair, make up…went outside and my hair got all blown up by the wind… oh well… I still got compliments on it later.. a couple of people asked how who did it for me, ummm hello I just straightened it!

What I did NOT admit to was that I had a cut on the weekend… same style, just a tidy up… and deliberately had just blow dried it big so the straightening would have more effect

Drove back to work to pick up a friend and headed off to Luna Park

Leg 1: Parked the car and walked through the park to the function room, past the carousel, the ferris wheel and stopped to giggle at ourselves in those wacky fun fair mirrors!

Then que to get our tickets checked and very sexy fluro green bands on our wrists… yeah baby! Walk up the stairs and wait to cross the red carpet where they were interviewing each group as they walked down the carpet.

There was woman by herself behind us so we asked her is she wanted to walk down with us (protection in numbers) and she seems relieved! The good news was as there were three of us just my colleague….. who looked fabulous… was interviewed! Phew!

T1: After circulating inside, listening to the MD’s speech (waved at some of the sales team) and the MC we headed outside and ran into the Director (our big boss) who has somehow been to the make up ladies after I left work to change and was sporting some eyeliner… hmmmm...

After the kisses and Merry Christamses we heard the rides were often and he INSISTED we accompany him to the ‘Wild Mouse’. Grabbed a few more girls and off we tottered in our heels…

Ran into another guy we work with on the way out and grabbed him to come join us….

Leg 2: Got to the ride, there was almost no que so we jumped in, two to a tiny cart with seat belts and went on this rollercoaster that dipped and turned violently! Lots of screaming and giggling… lost the contents of my hand bag in the bottom of the cart as well… oops!

Got off and waited for the others to come through… giggled some more.. got my heel stuck between the wooden planks of the platform and picked up some of the members of the sales team.

Found out there was one other ride open for us, the carousel so insisted we all go ride the horsies so to we went… giggling and screaming as we walked through the very quiet fun park!

Jumped on the carousel and realised climbing onto the horse with a skirt and heels was not going to be graceful… rode side saddle and giggles a lot. The guy next to me was riding backwards, another was treating his horse like a race horse, slapping its rear… hilarious!

Lost my cell phone temporarily under the carousel… thankfully a knight in a grey suit grabbed it for me… didn’t think it would be a good idea to try myself in a skirt!

After the ride two of my collegues and I took some goofy photos on her camera phone with the carousel in the background… Im yet to see them so lets hope they aren’t too awful! Then waved at the next round of people on the carousel as they goofed around…

We then tottered slowly back to the party with much more squealing and giggling…

T2: Grabbed some more water, and headed outside to chat to some of the other party goers where they announced the video presentation would be on so headed inside…

The video was hilarious! It was a Marilyn theme to “I wanna be loved by you” and featured a whole bunch of work people with the wig, gloves and make up (male and female) singing along to the track, or goofing around, doing their normal job, making some silly comments… fantastic! Oh and several people attempting the “boop boop be doop”

So much laughing and whoop whoops… later in the night while the DJ was on they played the bloopers and extended footage and it was hilarious.

Leg 3:  The DJ started up and after checking my bag I began a 3 hour dancing marathon, not stopping for anything… I forgot how much I love to dance…

I feel happy and attractive… lots of silly moves, circles and shoving people inside, singing along to ‘Billie Jean’ and JT… the crowd dancing changed a lot and eventually we grabbed a few of the guys to join us.

Thankfully a few people went for drinks and brought me back some water as it was a sauna… so much for the pretty hair I got sweaty and hot and gross and I LOVED it!

Got a nice compliment from one of the guys who came and danced with me for awhile apparently Ive got “All the moves” which I took as a compliment that I think I will feed off for awhile… I never really feel self conscious on the dance floor with a group of people… just free and alive and happy. Lots of smiles, and doing the whole expressive facials with the words, imitating others dancing styles, the bump, the hustle, dancing around various people or doing that whole mirroring their moves… just goofy FUN!

The bad got back on and they were really different – did a trip around the world with music from Brazil, Spain, Russia, Gypsy tunes etc… a  horn player, several percussionists, saxophonists, few guitars and we all tried to samba, umm one of the girls had someone try to teach her to tango, we went round and round in circles kicking our feet in an attempt at Russian dancing, and lots of clapping and foot stamping and hip wiggling… sometimes all you could do was laugh!

Back to the DJ and the crowd started thining out… grabbed some water as they were shutting the bar and realised my feet were in agony and my knee wasn’t feeling so hot either (heels – bad kitty!). The party was just starting to wrap up so grabbed my bag and the couple of girls I was giving a lift back and after doing the rounds we headed off….

Cooldown:  Dropped the girls back at the office and then headed home via McDonalds (oops) I realised I hadn’t eaten all night and at almost midnight that was easy… drove the rest of the way home scoffing chips…

Oh my feet were SORE, got home, admired Sals wetsuit pic in Twisnibbins, removed my make up and dropped into bed….

This morning I had a hot shower and threw on some flat sneaker, jeans and got to work early (werid!) where everyone has been talking about what a great night they had! Turns out some people went to karaoke and were kicking on until after 3!!! WOW!

Right now Im sitting at my desk with no shoes on and my feet up on a stool… breakfast was some toast and a brownie with a coffee (healthy huh?) and after almost 2 hours here there is still a HUGE buzz about the party and people slowly arriving, well those that were at the party…

Man... he is a good sport... will try anything... cycling competition, touch footy, karaoke in a pirates costume which ended up on YouTube...

Keep it up and you might reach platinum! From all my travelling with my old job I worked up I have enough points to fly home to New Zealand...pretty impressive so I might use them sometime!

Sounds like a FANTABULOUS party!  Wow!  And with co-workers for that matter .  What an opportunity.  I missed it.  Did you ever decide what to wear?

Well, while your resting up, it may be the start of some good times here in the States...family, FOOD and fun.  I think you guys need to have an Aussie commemoration of U.S. Thanksgiving in the office!

Yes come down! I can help you plan it! Ive been all over both countries... well quite a bit anyway Plus I love showing people around!

haha yeah... next time less clevage though... my one issue was that I spent a lot of time worried about it and pulling up my dress...

The dress code was cocktail glam and everyone really went to an effort... there were a few double take moments with people too!

No hair stuyle for me after a bit of dancing... I do NOT know how so many women manage to have hair that doesnt get sweaty with dancing... maybe they dont do it right?

Dee!!!!! Maybe yo'd have powers if you found a wand?
