ceilidh - 2010-03-29 3:53 PM I am off to start dinner. Crab cakes. YUM.. they would be good with that mango peach salsa, Tom. Unfortunately no mangos. BUT the fresh asparagus is in... I'll just have to make do with that for now.

Have good evenings all.

FWIW, I am going to be better tomorrow, I have just decided. I am going to kick this cold/infection thing to the curb. I have work that needs getting done before my long weekend off.

YOU GO GHOULIE GIRL.

and enjoy them crabcakes!

uber yummmy.

skrtrnr - 2010-03-29 3:01 PM not that im suprised by those dollar amounts, but holy crapoly.

the upside for me, well, theres a few upsides.

i have no pre-exsisting condition/chronic issue that im dealing with.

and im super healthy.  other than athletes foot issue i had awhile back, i havent been to the doctor for anything major/minor for like forever.

though.... you never know as you age....im definately going to carry health insurance....just dont want to be paying out the yang.

Oh you absolutely can't go without it.

After I got thrown from the horse I spent almost $12,000 out of my pocket, and that's WITH insurance picking up most of it. Between surgery, hospital stay, x-rays, all the follow-up appts, an MRI, PT and all that good stuff it really added up. Without insurance I'd be living in a cardboard box somewhere.

Ann ????? ?????n?o?t to hijack ?t?h?e? health insurance discussion, but I've meant to ask you  before what type of riding you do.  Just hanging out with horses on the farm? ??????????????????????????  I grew up with ???h?o?r?s???e?s but never came back to???? ?r?i?d?i?n?g after college.  I competed in eventing and also foxhunted.  Mostly, I just loved hanging out ?????????????????????????????????????????????????????????in the barn and throwing a halter ?o?n? ?s?o?m?e?o?n?e? ??(??J?a?s?o?n? ?w?a?s? ?m?y? ?b?i?g? ?g?u?y???)? ?a?n?d? ?g?o?i?n?g? ?f?o?r? ?a? ?s?t?r?o?l?l? ?i?n? ?t?h?e? ?w?o?o?d?s

Right now we have 4 Quarter horses, we've had as many as 8. We do western riding. There is lots of woods, fields, and orchards here that we ride through. At Christmas we even try to go Christmas caroling on horseback for the people who let us ride on their property.

ceilidh - 2010-03-29 12:54 PM Stacie, no help here either on insurance just to echo. You gotta have it and it is expensive. Mine is through work as well. My self employed friends best bet was to go to an independent insurance agent and shop with them for their specific needs.

I'll echo Robin, Kim, and Ann. The most important thing is that you know what's in the plan. Those things are written to be confusing for a reason - to confuse you. If you have a friend who works in that field then definitely consult them. Otherwise find an agent you trust like Robin said and go over what you need.

On a side note, will this plan be just for you or your kids as well?

THANKS ROBIN, KIM, TOM AND ANN for weighing in.

the plan will be just for me.  the kids will be covered under their dad's plan.

fortunately (i believe this is a state law) my husband (even if he wanted to, which he wouldnt...) cant drop me from his health insurance until the divorce is finalized.

theres no such thing as a legal seperation in the state of PA. youre either married or divorced.

and until were divorced, which could take awhile, not because its contested just because the courts are so slow, it will be a good 1-2 years before i'll uninsured.

but im not gonna wait until i HAVE TO do something before i have something lined up for myself.....that includes having a paycheck that covers ALL my living expenses minus the mortgage.

i made a choice before because i was afraid that i didnt have what it took to support myself financially.  not gonna make that choice a 2nd time.  nope.  not ever.

stacieb

Yea for not making the same mistakes twice!

Yes. What Robin said.

You will be better than effin fine, too.

Good evening Ghoulies. I had a decent day in the pool, and I felt a LOT stronger on my 50s this week than I did last week. Wednesday I have my first 1000m non-stop scheduled. I'm looking forward to it, but I hope I don't lose count!

When I got home, it was just before 4:30 and everyone was occupied so I snuck in my bike ride. It's been difficult getting rides in during the week, but I'll figure something out. In the meantime it was nice to spend some time out on the rollers around my house today. The engine still isn't as tuned as I'd like, but it'll get there.

I hope everyone's having a good night!

Health Insurance talk: tres important....I'm not sure what the exact question was because im driving by here at the end of the day...I actually got into a minor squabble with my friends uncle from Georgia the other day. He's all about "not paying health insurance" or the fine you get down in the states if you don't do something? I'm really confused at what he was talking about. But he's quite wealthy and all about "not paying for others health insurance"...so i held my tongue but whished to point out the fact that coronary bypass surgery/valve replacement + drugs would prob be around $200000 to $300000 easy...(and hes probably nearing the coronary bypass option by looking at his current health status) and that he probably would have some level of trouble paying for that...anyways...this is a rant which is probably not in context to the original query...

So I'm ending swimming with the team on Wed...just too much time in the water not specific for tri...which is fine, but not in April and I need to spend more time on my trusty steed Kona...and I have morning classes in April at 8...which means I'm def not going to be able to handle not getting home till 9 and to bed till 11 and have to wake up at 530-6. So thats my decision...I figure I'll swim about 3-4hrs a week from here on out and up the biking...

Tri update: I came 6th in the womens out of 20 or something...funny thing is I would have come 6th in the mens ranking too...haha...so I'm 11th out of 40ish. The results arn't online yet, but I saw them today...

750m swim--10:55
20k spin bike--25min
4km run--20:03

SO the swim is meh...I doubt it will make a huge difference if I were to put the pedal to the medal and rip out a 10-10:15 in any race...and it would prob make me tired...haha

the bike is...just is...as its a 20k spin on lowest resistance possible...so you really have no idea how fast you are going...the fastest chick was off in 20m...apparently you need to have been bouncing all over the place..haha...(lesson learned for next yr)

the run is ok...I would have liked a sub 20 min. I really would like to have more speed on the run...lower body mass would probably aide me in that endevor too...I think optimal would be about 4:30/km

Yaa...

I did a lactate set today for run. 5x5min at LT...In reality I was above LT at the end...closer to 170 than LT. SO now I'm tired...

MORNING GHOULIES...ANN, NEAL...anyone else in the VILLAGE this morning?

suns up and im looking forward to the day.

meeting up with friends for breakfast.  always a good time.  we've been getting together for breakfast/lunch/dinner every other month since our kids were in preschool together.  its nice to have some long term friends.

then im heading over to the salon to get my eyebrows waxed.  OUCHY!

and then heading up to the Y to do some ST....i'll be back later this evening to do a 500 yd swim and a 1hr spin.  a mile run afterwards if i'm feeling it after the spin.

i had my DH go over the household budget w me....and what w my job at the Y, i would only have to substitute 5-7 days a MONTH in order to cover the main bills (electric, water, gas, car insurance) minus the mortgage and the car payment.

being financially independent (or at least to a greater degree than i was) isnt as DAUNTING a TASK as i thought.

though i wont have the subbing in the summer, i'm already talking to the summer day camp director at the Y.

he may need me on a PT to help out w the summer camp (i did HIS job before at a church for 1000+ kids, ya think i can help him out???  LOL)

this way i can get paid AND my kids can go to summer for almost free.    a win win if all goes according to plan.

the planets are aligning for me.
