wgraves7582 - 2010-04-06 7:53 AM Mel - you are awesome!  I am saying that because of a lot of different posts - but thanks for finding BT - you always make me smile when I read your posts!

You are like a NW Yanti - LOL
Awww, thanks Bill.  It is very flattering to be the NW Yanti...I didn't realize that I was so much fun!

wgraves7582 - 2010-04-06 9:55 AM Morning Paul!  I mean Arnold - LOL!  How are you today?

Doing much better after a tough couple of days.  How about you? Enjoying the rain?  Can't be too bad out there if it's warm enough to rain.

Warm rain is good!!  Cold rain is bad

I would take a little rain over the wind any day!

Well I had both today and last night was 20+ headwind on the way home.  Sorry that is all I have.  Snowriding though - that is fun!

They can be amazing huh.  I have a snow ride I will remember for the rest of my life. Its a shame that I let a little snow hold me back when I have so many good memories that involve snow. I just need to get my butt out the door because I know things will probably turn out just fine.

I would move to Alaska or Minnesota for better snow riding - it is so much fun.  Unexplainable!!!

Yes, but its sooo much colder. And the days are short in the winter so there is less riding time. I really enjoyed Anchorage though. Being close to the coast helped keep the temperatures a little more mild. Plus there are lots of huge blueberries just waiting to be picked. Nothing like the itty bitty ones you usually find at the stores here.

TElenor - 2010-04-06 11:27 AM Hi A-Teamers!  I just wanted to say that I had a really great swim in the pool this morning!  I did my first interval workout (not pushing hard enough apparently, since I didn't feel like puking Smile), 8x100 with warmup, drills, and a leisurely cooldown.  My fastest 100 clocked in at 1:24, and I managed to keep the other 7 no slower than 1:30!  I'm pretty happy about that, especially since I'm still getting into swimming shape.  I haven't figured out what my goal should be down the road, but now I at least have something to work from.

On a completely different note, I've been pondering something that I thought I might as well throw out to all of you.  As you may have guessed from my puny post-count, I'm very new to BT and to triathlons in general.  I've since come to wonder; do most of you more experienced folks do double workouts in a day?  I see a lot of "I swam this morning, getting on the trainer this afternoon..." and the such.  It makes sense to double up in a day, I think, but I've been wondering how to structure it.  Double up one or two days a week, or more?  Hard workout in the morning, easy in the afternoon?  Two relatively easy workouts?  One long, one short?  Just curious what my fellow teammates are up to...

Well as you can tell and this is all joking (based on another thread reference!) - I have almost 10K posts so I know a lot (j/k) but I break mine up just for recovery purposes.  It mostly falls to a time issue.  If you have time to do a 2 a day then it is better - just make sure you eat and recover properly!

Sorry this is butchered - I actually had to a little work and I am rushing this now.

When I go back to training for tri's instead of my bike race - I will run/swim in the morning and then ride in the night.  I do swim/run together because I can do them both at the Y and it is quieter in the morning than afternoons when I would get there!
Bill, You work?!!  I had no Idea!

Just checked the link someone posted to some NTC Masters Swim workout.  That's crazy!  You'd either have to be a really fast swimmer or not have a job to be able to do workouts like that on a regular basis. I just don't have the time it would take me to do that kind of distance.

Crazy night at the pool last night.  Some lady was "teaching" some kids to swim in the laps lane. Basically taking up space holding on to kick boards. "Patience. Open plunge closes soon and it will be just lap swimmers." Then I look at the water and its cloudy. What's up with that?  Jump in and the water feels a little cooler but I brush it off to me being cold because of the snow storm. I start swimming and get about a third of the way when I hit this wall of warm water. That's strange. I guess they were putting fresh water into the pool and the way the "current" is in the pool, it creates a wall of warm water just before you get to the area where the water is coming in. Not too bad going from cold to warm but if I wasn't paying attention it would take my breath away when I would go from the warm water to the sudden cold. Plus for the first ten minutes until they cleared the pool I had to actually change lanes back and forth as people would keep drifting around. Some life guards are pretty good at keeping the lanes clear for lap swimmers, others are just too timid to say anything.

I just realized...I am officially only taking 3 of the 6 classes in the Horticulture block.  I am currently sitting in on all of them.  It is fun and it never hurts to have refreshers.

But...In the first class, Plant ID, I am already really comfortable with all the plants.  I can use that extra hour plus for a morning workout on the days that getting up at 4:20am just isn't happening.  I could sleep in 'til 5:45...such a novel idea!

kimk - 2010-04-06 1:40 AM Again I am up early when I don't have to be! What is this? No next week when the kids are back at school I won't be able to drag my arse out of bed! It is storming pretty good here...lots of lightning,  rain, rain go away because Kim has a run to do today! I was not able to ride to work yesterday like I wanted to but I did get a swim in. I'll get a trainer ride in today and hoping for a run! Then speaking of baseball...I am going to the game tonight with some friends!
Have a good day A TEAM!

I agree, for the most part, that rain sucks. However, I love a good storm! I used to sit outside and watch them but it's been a long time since I have lived in an area that has really good thunder and lightning storms ~ talk about some good sleeping weather.

brick94513 - 2010-04-05 9:23 AM Well I was planning on a road ride this morning, but my wife left my tights in the washer!  Errrrrr....  So, changed the plan and went for a little run.  Pace was pretty pedestrian.  My legs are still sore from running stairs three days ago.

Planning on taking the boys to the movies later, baseball practice, then hopefully to the pool for my first swim of the month.

Your theatre doesn't have a bar in it, does it?

Unfortunately, no it doesn't.  The movie was really good.  My boys loved it.  I enjoyed it as much as them.

I plan on taking my sister to see it in the next week or two  Actually...today is my mom's birthday, maybe I can take her too.  It has been years and years since she saw a movie in the theatres.

Happy Birthday (Mel's) Mom!!

Morning Bill!

Just got caught up on the thread.  Us left coasters are at a disadvantage here.  Its hard enough to keep up with you, but especially when you have a three hour head start!

Try being 6 HOURS behind!

So I somehow managed to talk myself into getting up out of my nice warm bed this morning to go running. I got outside and just as I was getting ready to go, it started pouring. I stepped back under shelter and almost turned around to come back inside when I reminded myself how much I love running in the rain...so off I went, smiling the whole time!

I got my 2nd workout in today... a 5-ish mile run outside at lunchtime.  It was a very strange run though.  I couldn't get my HR down.  This was my first time running in 80+ degrees since Aug/Sept last year, so I'm assuming I just need to get used to running in the heat again.  Trust me... not complaining when I hear some of you are still getting snow!!!

With regard to the question of doubling up workouts... I find it's the only way to get all the training in.  And most training plans, at least the ones you'll find on this website, require 2 workouts 3-5 days of the week.... shorter workouts during the week and then the long run/bike/swim on the weekends.  Ultimately, it's completely based on personal preference and what your goals are (i.e. what you're training for).

LOST TONIGHT!!! YAY!!!Cool
