I will be down Wednesday evening as well, but I only have to drive from Dallas once the squid gets out of school around 4pm, so I should be in The Woodlands by 7:30-8:ish depending on traffic. Planning an easy 1 hr ride on Thursday morning, banquet Thursday evening, and then the swim on Friday morning followed by a quick 2-3 mile run right after the swim Definitely would like to meet some folks from BT if we can wing it at the banquet or at the swim on Friday |

Driving in Thurs morning and staying at the Marriott at least on Friday night....may change and stay in Conroe Thursday night to save some dough since it will be just me...can't decide. |

But in the athlete guide IRONMAN Practice Swim The Ironman practice swim will be held on Friday, May 17 from 8 a.m. - 10 a.m. at Lake Woodlands. ONLY registered athletes in the race will be allowed to participate in the practice swim. I sent an email off to Ironman to get a confirmation on this Edited by se7930 2013-05-02 1:29 PM |

How you feeling dude? I know you were sick. I'm starting to feel better but I'm not 100% yet. What I don't want to do is try and go for a workout and then relapse. |

How you feeling dude? I know you were sick. I'm starting to feel better but I'm not 100% yet. What I don't want to do is try and go for a workout and then relapse. I'm almost 100%. Still exhausted though. I was on medicine and drank about twice the water I normally do. Did a few really low HR spins where I could just sweat everything out. That seemed to help, along with a little extra sleep. Seems like sleep is hard to come by these days. I plan on taking a day off here and there to make sure I am getting my rest. Taper is worthless if you are persistently exhausted. You shouldn't be worried. Take an extra day or two if you need to. You have been so consistent through the build, you don't have anything to worry about in regards to fitness. You have to remember that you won't get any faster during the taper period. If you try to keep building volume, you're only hurting your capability on race day. Get your rest and have faith in the training you have put in. Is this your first Ironman?

Now if we could be so lucky to get Monday, May 20th's forecasted weater....high 85 low 70, cloudy and less humid with very slight wind. I guess there's no sense in worrying about it as long as there's nothing that causes them to cancel a portion of the race. |

Pro 4313 McKinney, TX | Subject: RE: Memorial Hermann Ironman Texas : Official Thread We are rolling out of the metroplex on Thursday morning.....stop at Bucee's on the way down....should arrive in the Woodlands around lunch time. Check in, unload, etc...and should be at the IM Village to pick up packet and hang out around 2:30-ish. I'm worried about volume, long rides/runs, fitness, etc....but I'm undertriained. I'm going for the fun, the expereince, and for the finish..... 1) Race Day is about execution not necessarly fitness Apply the fitness that you bring to the race See your race as a video game. You control you. 2) Execute 100% The goal for the first 2/3's of the race is to set up your run Nothing before mile 18 of the run matters The "suck line" will come....guarenteed. The decision you make will either move the suck line closer to you or further away (goal is 'further') 3) Dealing with the suck line with your box Urgency vs. Importance - your race is important. Act out of importance not urgency This is your box. You control what's in that box (fitness, nutrition, planning). Stay in your box 4) Why are you here (mantra) When the line hits, what will you do to keep going. Why are you here? Why are you doing this race? Why did you sign up This will keep you going until the end. Don't pull this out until necessary |

Kind of glad I was swimming today.
Don't fool yourselves into thinking this thing will be wetsuit legal. |

Don't fool yourselves into thinking this thing will be wetsuit legal. I'm prepped for a "jammers only" swim. If it's wetsuit legal, I'm smashing my goal time of 1:25. The wetsuit would be a bonus, but yeah....not counting on it. Accuweather does say high of 83 and ESE winds of 9mph (with 30% chance of rain). Of course that's changed since yesterday and the 85 with 60% rain. I guess I shouldn't check it until Friday afternoon.....May 17th....and even then it could change. |

Apparently I am going to have to break out some of the cold weather gear for my ride tomorrow. On a completely different note, has anyone heard or seen what the new swag is for this year? The backpacks from last year were awesome, and was looking forward to seeing what was in store this year. |

Yep. Got in the car this morning and was like "Well there is one arm warmer, need to find the other before tomorrow." Ha. |

Master 2468 Muskego, Wisconsin | Subject: RE: Memorial Hermann Ironman Texas : Official Thread Pouring rain and mid 40s here with the same predicted for tomorrow. So much for being acclimated to the heat. really thought the move to Memphis would have helped this year. Looks like the trainer for me. I'll be packing my sleeveless wetsuit and my swim skin. As long as I bring a wetsuit I'll guarantee a non- wetsuit lega race. Who wants that kind of swim congestion anyway? Got the bike back from the shop, wished they would have trimmed the cables more but it'll work for now. Still waiting on my Flo wheels to show up. |
