AWESOME HILDE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'M SO EXCITED FOR YOU Cool

I bet you can't wait to finish getting her all set up and ready to roll....between you're speedy runs lately and your new wheels you're going to be sssssssmooooookin' this season!

I got in a 10K today...felt rough for the first mile but then felt better and better as the run went on. Finished the 6.2 miles in 54:45:05 (8:40/mile pace) and had an awesomely consistent negative split run...
9:37
8:55
8:49
8:37
8:34
8:27
8:15

Tomorrow is a scheduled day off but if the weather is nice I may sneak out for another short run. The roads are too gravely/sandy from all the snow, etc. melting away that I'm too chicken to ride my bike - asking for a wipe-out for sure!

Hope you're all having a GREAT weekend!

Marsha, you think I'M speedy?  Look at that 10k'r, awesome negative splits ending with an 8:15???  There must be a wind advisory there from your backlash!!

WOO-HOO!!! Congratulations, Hilde!! Can't wait to see the pics!

Meanwhile, the Midwest is complaining of the high winds caused by Marsha's super-fast 10K time-- WAY TO GO doing an AWESOME negative split, girl!

My accomplishment for the day: a 3-hour trainer ride. Not super-speedy, but I now know it CAN be done, and I'm working on nutrition stuff as well. Next time: more distance in the same time!

Hope everyone's enjoying a great weekend!

So jealous of the new bike Hilde.  I was at my bike shop a few months ago, and just for kicks decided to look at new bikes....Nothing they had would fit me, so we looked at some measurements...turns out there is only ONE bike manufacturer out there that makes a bike short enough for me....so when the time comes, I only have one choice.  Makes it easy, I guess...

Jen, what brand of bike is it?  I can't believe only one brand will fit you!!

Looks like everyone has been working hard lately... Kory had a great tri last weekend!  Lots of races coming up too!  You've all been able to train in spite of the weather, snow, rain and WIND...

MMMers ROCK!!!!

OOOOOOOO... what a FABULOUSLY HOT bike! Congratulations, Hilde! Hope she's as much fun to ride as she is to look at!

Quick (unrelated, alas) question to all you Newton runners out there: anyone have issues with numbness in the forefoot as you were adjusting to them? I'm curious, since in some of my runs I've had toes start to go numb, but today (when I focused on form) had far less of that than before. Any thoughts, anyone?

GO, MMMers, GO!!

Nope, no numbness on tehe Newtons...  I occasionally feel like I'm getting a hot spot, but it's just a feeling, it never really happens.... maybe you have them tied too tight??  I put elastic laces in mine.

Hilde - I am as green as your bike w/envy!! She is VERY sexy!!

On the question about the Newtons.....when I wore them on my 10K yes, I did have some numbness in my forefoot but I attributed it to my neuroma...Could be that it was as a result of poor form as I got tired...

No numbness with the Newtons here either (I have 250 miles on them). An occasional hot spot, but never a blister. Hopefully it's just a glitch from form that will go away as you get the hang of the midfoot strike.

On another note, I finally got around to checking the official results from Sunday's Splash & Dash. Out of 118 swimmers, I came in 116th! At least I wasn't last! It didn't help that I did an extra 500 yards, according to Garmie (apparently I need to work on siting). I'm trying not to think about the hundreds of hours I've spent in the pool over the last year, the coaching sessions, etc., because that would be depressing.

Well Tammy, swimming an extra 500 yards would tend to put one back a bit!  Don't worry, I think we've all had sighting problems in the past... I did it twice in ONE RACE and felt like a total dumb ...  Straighten out that swim line and you'll be fine!

Looks like we will continue the group right here!  Welcome back to Peggy who is officially re-joining us!!  (She is Wesley's Mom for you new folks, and was with us in round 1 of the MMM's).  Please add her as a friend or put her on your MMM list:

Peggy - peggyf

Checks have started coming in the mail for the T-shirts, I will let you all know when I place the order!  They say 2 weeks to make 'em and then probably a week at most after that for me to mail them to y'all....

Welcome back Peggy!!! (doesn't feel like you were ever gone).

Friday's Question for the group:  Does anyone have a OLY distance training program you could recommend?  I really hope to train smart for my July 10 OLY since it is my first time at this distance I want to do it by the book, not just lengthen my distances and train to finish.  I have about 13 weeks to train for the event.

Janet, have you checked out one of the Oly plans here on BT?  I kind of winged it for my one and only and I really had no business doing it since my run volume was way too low... did you maybe check with Jeff (junthank), he has probably followed one....

W000T! We're all here, Peggy included! Yay MMMers!

Janet, I used a mishmash of various Oly plans from books last time-- once term is over here (one more month, hurray!), I'll be dialing things in more tightly to a plan for my HIM in August. Let me know if you want me to look up what I did last year...

TGIF indeed! Hope you all have an awesome weekend, and GO TAMMY TURTLE GO for your HIM on Sunday!!! You'll ROCK that course, girl! *cheers you on like crazy*

Welcome back Peggy!!!

Thanks for the suggestions on the knee pain. I just got new shoes so I'm hoping it's not from them, but I have ramped up my miles quickly. I had skipped the past two weeks of my long runs and then had a full week of running this past week. I'm thinking that's the problem. Too much too soon.

Hope everyone has a great weekend.

Jordie - I think adding too many miles too fast is most likely your problem.  Remember to ICE those sore knees and take your vitamin I (ibuprofen).  It is a good sign that they feel OK after you warm up, that means you don't have an injury.

Hilde - I did ask Jeff and he didn't have any experience with the BT programs.  His advice was to choose a program that wasn't too much of a stretch in terms of time and intensity.  I went with a 12 week "bridge" program which I will start week after next.

Alex - Thanks for the offer, I think I found a program to use.  But I may be asking everyone for advice as I start out.  But that is what you are here for, right???
