I think I need to be one of those jerk volunteers this year.  I think IM Wisconsin is the closest thing to me.  Maybe be a motorcycle volunteer.

ruh roh

What race/distance?

a super easy local sprint - 300 m in a pool snake swim (indoors) then a 10ish mile bike - very flat but a triangle shape course where the middle leg is brutal with cross winds - then a super easy 5k through a neighborhood where they love to sit out and cheer.

followed with DEEELICIOUS BARBECUE.  remember olliedawg?  he was my personal cheerleader and beer supplier the last time i ran this race

BBQ and Beer....

that's enough motivation for me to turn that "oh crap I have a race" into "Doing a race with Beer and BBQ"

Rock the race then go all nom-nom on the food.

We are headed to the beach shortly.  Huba-huba, Ubatuba.  I wonder what the bikinis will be like.  The predominant style in Brazil is one that translates as "dental floss".

My rule, formed in the eye-searing fire of retirement beaches of Daytona, is, "If you are over fifty, wear a shirt.  No exceptions."  I will be wearing my polo shirt and age-appropriate swim trunks.  Brazilian guys of all ages tend to wear the banana hammock.

The banana hammocks must take more stress as the men get older and the boys start to sag down to the knees.
