I'm thinking about the 60 for road racing. However I ride a Cervelo S2 and the clearances are tight. I've had to stop using my 24 spoke HED Belgium POwertap wheel because of flex issues and major rubbing of the seat and chain stays (and brakes). It was a 2x lacing with sapim laser spokes (great for tri on my P2, but can't handle the power surges of road race training/racing). How will your wheel stack up? What will clearance be like on an S2? I'll be between 155 and 165 during the year.

Thanks!

I'm really struggling with which setup to go with. I walk around at around 180-185 and race closer to 170.  Am I really going to notice a huge difference in handling in windy conditions between the flo60 and 90 up front being that I'm considered a "heavier rider"?

I want to get the fastest setup possible. I've been doing some research and it seems that the general concensus is either "go as deep up front as possible" or "If you go too deep up front you'll be a sail if the wind gusts."

I guess the smart thing to do would be to get the 60 up front and the 90 in the rear just to be safe but I wanted to see what everyone's opinion was. I know this topic has been beaten to a pulp lately.

One other question. Lets say you ride on a lot of rolling terrain where you descend quite a bit at speeds in the mid 30's to 40 mph. Would the flo90 in the front them make more sense because you'll see more aero benefits on the downhill?

There isn't a ton of room on the S2.  What is rubbing on the seat and chain stays?  The spokes?  If your brakes are rubbing they may not be adjusted properly.

Our standard wheels are 2 cross and use 24 spokes.  We also sell a clydesdale/sprinter wheel with a 3 cross pattern and 28 spokes.  You sound like a strong sprinter so I would recommend this wheel for you.  There is a minimal increase in weight (only 38 grams).

Take care,

What average speeds are you holding in races?

Then I would recommend the FLO 60 in the front for you.  You spend the least amount of time in a race at down hill speeds so your average speed is much more important.  The FLO 60 will be the fastest wheel in the front for you.

Take care,

I think it might be better if you call to talk. Would you be interested in calling? I'm starting a swim meet but my brother would gladly take your call to help talk you through your questions and concerns. His number is 702-529-4799 if you would like to call. Or you can call me tomorrow at 702-529-4744.

Sorry, I just saw this suggestion to call.  It's Mardi Gras time down here in South Louisiana so the weekend was kinda crazy.

Do you still suggest I do so?

On your website it says the disc has sapim laser spokes.  Is the design similar to a hed jet disc which has spokes and a carbon shell to make it a disc. I remember reading somewhere you saying that the disc makes the swoosh sound.  Doesn't that only happen on solid disc?  I believe the hed jet disc does not make that sound.

Our FLO DISC is a spokes wheel with carbon fiber covers similar to the HED Jet Disc.  Our DISC is pretty loud.  All of that carbon acts like an acoustic guitar and resonates the sound.  It's not identical to a solid disc but it definitely is loud.  You can hear it in this video...

THanks for the response.

The tire is rubbing.  It's a standard 23mm tire (though not all 23 mm tires are created equal I understand). i have maybe 2 mm clearance either side (I didn't just measure that, I'm just ballparking because I'm not at my bike right now).  I'm not a great sprinter, I can hit over 1000 watts if I REALLY want to, but that's it.

Are there any guarantees? I.e. if I get the sprinter and I can flex it enough to be an issue, can I return it?  I've been thinking that I'll just have to stick to the 19 mm rims with this bike.

ETA: thanks for the quick response!

Will the flo disc fit on a Specialized Transition without hitting the chainstays?  Wheelbuilder wheel covers do not clear the chainstays on the transition.

If the tire is rubbing it sounds like you will need to use a smaller tire.  We were having a similar issue on the Blue Triad and had to switch to a 21mm or 22mm tire.

We will allow customers to return the wheels as long as they haven't been ridden.  You will have to check any tolerance issues before you ride the wheels.

Let me know if you have any additional questions.

The FLO DISC will fit in a Specialized Transition.  We are working with Rich at wheelbuilder on the wheel covers.  So far the wheel covers fit on my Felt DA but they have not been tested on a Transition.  The wheel covers can be tricky to get fitting properly.

Paypal or a straight credit card transaction.  Both options will be available in the cart.

The P3 and S2 will both be fairly tight fits but their will be clearance.  I had the wheels on a P3 the other day and there was about 5mm on either side of the wheel.  Make sure you have your horizontal dropout screws adjusted properly and you should be ok.  Heavy riders or strong sprinters may get an occasional rub.  As mentioned above, you may need a narrower tire (21mm for the S2).

The wheel pages have a dynamic color selector.  Did you see that?  I'm not sure what an "irl" picture is.  Can you explain?  Sorry.

The P4 has a very tight fit.  There is clearance but strong sprinters and heavy riders may experience some rubbing.
