Pro 4339 Husker Nation | Subject: RE: Kansas 70.3 group workout thread Jayhox - 2012-05-04 9:04 AM be ready to LEAVE on the bike at 11:00. No arriving at 11:00 and dinking around untill 11:30 before pushing off. Good call. Helmets on, tires pumped, ready to clip in. Or be prepared to ride your butt off trying to catch the groups! :-P Couple other tips for the ride tomorrow: 1) freeze a couple of water bottles tonight. Doesn't take a meteorologist to know it's gonna be a hot one (like seven inches from the mid-day sun /Rob Thomas) and they'll be thawed in plenty of time for you to start sipping early and often. 2) print out a map of the course. It won't be marked, so it's up to each of us to be aware of where we are and where we're going. 3) bring some cash to get into the park. I'm not sure if they are charging yet, but it's better to not need it than to not have it. 4) save some room for Chipotle afterward! |

Put Reece and I down for the 18 group and Frank down for the 15-16 group. We will be in a black honda pilot if we all come together and I may bring the road bike so they fit better on the rack. |

No arriving at 11:00 and dinking around untill 11:30 before pushing off. (OK, I am the a-hole of the group now for saying that.) So . . . uh . . . yeah. Nevermind that. Had a great time with everyone. Good workout. Made up for the run today and I actually think it is more umid today than yesterday. I also missed a couple of spots on my back with the sunscreen and am in pain today. Have the infamous tramp stamp sunburn above my from where my tri top pulled up just enough. |

Veteran 419 | Subject: RE: Kansas 70.3 group workout thread I learned to bring more water than you think! Thought I was going to puke on the way home. Dehyration is no joke. I was shot at the end of that ride. I too have a beautiful tramp stamp. All my friends at the pool party yesterday evening had a good time with that too. Good luck to you racers! |

Master 3888 Overland Park, KS | Subject: RE: Kansas 70.3 group workout thread Justin, Brian, Jen Nice meeting you three, great ride Saturday under not so optimal conditions. I barely had enough water, Jon was the smart one with speedfill, torpedo mount AND two on the saddle! I'm lying in bed today all beat up. I crashed yesterday during that Tour de Hope ride. Bruised hip and shoulder, road rash, you name it. Hard to walk right now, contiplating going in to see doctor. Nothing appears to be broken. SAG did great getting me back home. I hope I can heal up by May 20 for K.C. 5150, then of course this race. |

Regular 106 | Subject: RE: Kansas 70.3 group workout thread Reece...It was nice meeting you as well. Had a good time. Saturday showed me where I'm not and where I need to be for Redman (not doing Kansas this year). Sorry to hear about your wreck. Hope everything gets better soon, KC is less than 3 weeks away. I toyed with the idea of doing KC (I have a couple friends doing it), but I'm going to pass this year. Hopefully I will get to it in the next year or so. Take care. Sorry to hear that Reece! Pics or didn't happen you know......
I got to go over today since yesterday was kind of poo. I am soooooo slow, and I missed a turn, and the wind kicked me in the sack. On the plus side, I managed to make it a 60 mile ride even after shorting both U-turn roads and I really like that course. Just the right amount of hills, although the one over the dam on the way back into a head wind might have made me cry a little bit. I wish I could have made it over with the group on Saturday, it's a little boring out there by yourself for 4 hours. Anyone have any plans to do another ride in a couple of weeks? Maybe the weekend after the KC tri? |

Extreme Veteran 815 Shawnee, KS | Subject: RE: Kansas 70.3 group workout thread Most importantly, how is the bike? It was nice meeting everyone. I have a few burn spots myself, mostly on the shoulder blades, and I thought I covered up fairly well. I have a busy few weeks coming up so probably no group workouts for me. I will be squeezing in workouts every chance I get, probably at odd times. Looking forward to seeing some of you at KC tri and everyone at KS 70.3. |

Master 3888 Overland Park, KS | Subject: RE: Kansas 70.3 group workout thread m.a.burghart - 2012-05-09 3:16 PM Reece is going to go all "Chrissie Wellington" at the KC Tri... Any plans for a ride/run on May28th morning? I will be doing it regardless as my last workout before the taper begins. Saw the ortho today, Nurse Practitioner actually. She says that no surgery necessary, it's only a distal fracture. She says take is easy for 3 weeks, she'll do another x-ray then. So I ask: When can I swim? She says as soon as your road rash heels up....but only kicking or with your left arm. When I can ride? Not until I see you in 3 weeks When can I run? Not until I see you in 3 weeks. She doesn't want any "jostling" going on. So I'm supposed to wear the arm sling and ice the area down a few times a day. I forgot to ask her about going to spin class which I thinnk will be O.K. in a week or so (If I wear the sling and just stay in the saddle. I'm going to be a one-armed fool in the pool as soon as my road rash heals up. I see a lot of kicking drills in my future which I need anyhow. I think if I try to get back into it sooner there's risk. So if I get a second opinion, go to special sports ortho will I hear something different? A fracture is a fracture. I have some hip pain still but there's no breaks in the hip, leg or keee areas at all. So it must just be bruisng. There will be no K.C Tri for sure, that's 2 weeks time after the fracture. If it were ribs I would probably go Chrissie Wellington on it. But the collar bone if a different animal. I"m just hopeful that I can still do IMKS which is 5 weeks post injury. |
