Veteran 232 Rio Rancho, New Mexico | Subject: RE: May "President's Cup" challenge - International Team Hey folks, Sorry I have been so quiet. I was travelling for work all last week and had 10k race and my first ever tri sandwiched in the weekend either side so it has been a crazy busy week for me. My numbers are well down at the moment, but I planned this due to some tapering for these races. Should be back pushing it hard again starting tomorrow. Still hurting in my legs from the tri on Sunday. But the main thing was that I finished my first ever tri and I am totally hooked. Bring on the next one. Let's go beat these other teams who are all busy chatting and won't notice us coming form behind! |

Well done on your first Triathlon . Its not a bad idea to rest up a little after the race. You will come back stronger ...

Veteran 232 Rio Rancho, New Mexico | Subject: RE: May "President's Cup" challenge - International Team Arrrrrggghhh.....I hate those bloody tumbleweeds. Here in New Mexico they are all over the place and in the spring time the winds are pretty strong in the afternoons so these darn things are blowing about all over the place.....some of them are 2-3 feet in diameter and can pretty hard to avoid without stopping. So far I have not had any hit me on the bike this year, however I had a nice large one graze past me when running and leave me with nice scratches on my leg. Tumbleweed sucks! Veteran 242 Reading, Berkshire (UK) | Subject: RE: International Team - May "President's Cup" challenge I'd take some tumbleweeds if the wind blowing them along was a gentle warm one and it was under sunny skies... We had 10 days of gorgeous sunshine but that ended as quickly as it began. So we're now back to miserable rain and 14°c and I'm racing tomorrow... Not good. This week's training has been pretty poor as well . Once I get through the race, I'll work out where I am and get myself back on track. |

Good luck with your race , Personally I would love 14C for a race temperature , rain not so much except on the run. Its going to be sunny and 38 C (100F) __________________________________

Veteran 232 Rio Rancho, New Mexico | Subject: RE: International Team - May "President's Cup" challenge Well we had a cold snap this week......only a high of 14degC and heavy rain (very unusual round here) and we are expecting a complete turn around with temps hitting 32degC by Monday.....crazy. Just want the high winds to calm down in the afternoons. It is scary when hauling butt on your bike down a hill on the road with no shoulder and a gust hits you......2 options.......deal with the dirt or deal with traffic.....arrgghh! With no winds it is just about perfect weather conditions.......just another reason I live and here and not back in Bonnie Scotland. |

Master 1841 Sendai, Japan | Subject: RE: International Team - May "President's Cup" challenge Just checking in. I have updated the spreadsheet for this week and am pretty much on plan to make or exceed my goals. On other topics: - I've never seen a tumbleweed in Japan and have no desire to get run over by one. - Weather here has been great this month with highs up around 18-20 C. I could do with a little less wind on the bike rides though.

Veteran 242 Reading, Berkshire (UK) | Subject: RE: International Team - May "President's Cup" challenge Hi guys -- week 2 results are up: http://www.beginnertriathlete.com/discussion/forums/thread-view.asp?tid=113273&posts=12#M1410255 It doesn't look good -- we're well and truly in last place If anyone has been injured or unable to train for any reason (in one or all disciplines), please let me know. We're such a small team (especially compared to the others) that one poor result hits us much harder. So we've got to be twice as good to get anywhere . Of course, if you've just been slack -- then get out there!! Congratulations to Mesteren, van_paulus and dcon who are all over 60% complete!! And finally, please make sure you're using the new spreadsheet. If you've got any questions about this or any problems, let me know. cheers, |

Expert 957 Reykjavik, Iceland | Subject: RE: International Team - May "President's Cup" challenge Well that dose not look good. But we have 2 who has not logged anything since week 1 and 1 who has not logged at all, to me it sounds like they don’t want to be in the challenge !!
I just finished my biggest week ever +16h Had my longest ride ever, the fast bike of the year and 2 races to finish the week of with, so now I am little tired. I will have no problem hitting my swim and bike goals, but the run is going to be hard. I was a little to ambiguous there However what I go over in the swim and bike should make up for it, so I should make the 100% by the end of the month
Happy training |

But we have 2 who has not logged anything since week 1 and 1 who has not logged at all, to me it sounds like they don’t want to be in the challenge !! I have dropped all 3 an inspire and will follow up with them to see what the situation is. They haven't logged much in their personal logs let alone on the spreadsheet. I've also asked D for guidance -- I know what I would do if another team approached me about this problem, but it's a bit tricky being the organiser (don't want to appear biased!). |

Hi International Team! OK, here's what I found on your teammates, and my advice regarding them: PhoenixAzul - Last login was 05-18. Last workout logged on 05-13. She has runs and swims logged for May. So she's still around. The Team Captain should send her one PM and an inspires. Include a link to this team thread, so she can find you. If she's new to the challenges, she may not realize that she needs to log her workouts on the spreadsheet. Neiders49 - Last login was 05-12. Last workout was 05-01. Unsure if he's really been around. The Team Captain should leave one PM and an inspires. Include a link to this team thread, so she can find you. See what happens. If he doesn't reply by the next Challenge update, drop him. Kiwikowgirl - Last login was 05-07. Last workout was 05-08. The Team Captain should leave one PM and an inspires. Include a link to this team thread, so she can find you. If she doesn't reply by the next Challenge update, drop her. Generally, if someone "disappears," I tell the Team Captain to send one PM. I suggest only sending one - and that the TEAM CAPTAIN do it, because we don't want them to think that we're "stalking" them.... And if the PM leaves your outbox, then you know that they've seen it. Hope that helps! And Gill - you've done a great job this month! Dee Edited by D001 2008-05-19 12:19 PM |
