I was surprised to see her run was 1 minute per mile slower.  Thinking back, my run was about 45 seconds/mile slower than my oly.

For the bike, I'm guessing you can take your flat course oly time (if you've done one) and subtract 2-3 mph... mine was about a little more than 2.75 mph slower.

Google Aquatic Park.  It's pretty safe to swim there on your own - it's a protected cove with little current or chop and there are usually other swimmers there.  I'll be swimming friday a.m. but out in the bay with Water World Swim.

I wonder what I'll forget that I'll have to buy at the expo.  So far I've at least remembered my Garmin 500 and mount, Forerunner, charger, both pairs of running shoes, tri top and bottom.  I need to get my pedals off my bike for the rental.

Last minute transition area question for those still tuned in!

I saw the assigned spots on the bike racks, what are the rules about your actual area?  Do you set up a small patch on the ground like at most races, where you lay your stuff out?  Or is it like an Ironman event where we have to keep all our stuff off the ground?

Yes me too! Actually have never had such a slow swim time but I think it was partly because I went off course somewhat.  I think too I got in some kinda current because at one point I got turned around almost 180 degrees! and also felt like I was swimming in place at one point.  Weird.

Loved the race and am really happy I got to do it! Spectacular sunshine was icing on the cake

Nice job and nice time.  I really couldn't get any momentum going at this race.  I had a slow swim and then upon swim exit, the volunteers lost my bag, so I ended up with an 11 minute transition and the soles of my feet hated the barefoot run to T1.  I picked off nearly everyone in sight during the bike and wherever I could on the run but the bottle necks made it difficult to really race this event.  Kudos to the fishies who did not have to deal with the crowd.

From what I've heard, the swim was longer for everyone this year.  Based on last year's results, I expected to be at 30 minutes exactly, and this year NO ONE in my age group broke that time.  Last year there was something like at least 50 that did.

Having a fast swim also makes a huge difference in avoiding the bottlenecks and crowds on the run course.  I'm slow on the bike, and generally even slower on the run, but getting out of the water and onto the course before everyone else made it so I was able to keep at a my race pace almost the entire time.

I loved the race though and if time and funds allow will be all about coming back next year.

Whats the deal with the qualify portion? Do I have to qualify for this event or Can I get lucky with the lottery and not have qualify?
