For those in my group, I had put together an mix for IMWI 2006 that I'm planning to send. It's about 1 3/4 hrs, and it coincides pretty well with my mindset as I prepare race morning. Low key as I arrive/body marking/mingle, kick it up in the middle to get "the fire blazin", and taper it down with some motivational songs before I hit the water. Here's the track listing...Enjoy!

Woke Up This Morning A3
Regulate Warren G
Would? Alice In Chains
Fade To Black Metallica
Holiday / Boulevard of Broken Dreams Green Day
Train in Vain (Stand by Me) The Clash
Slither Velvet Revolver
Man In The Box Alice In Chains
Sunday Bloody Sunday U2
Bitch Sevendust
Break Stuff Limp Bizkit
Master Of Puppets Metallica
Bring the Noise Public Enemy
The Impression That I Get The Mighty Mighty Bosstones
Let's Get Retarded Black Eyed Peas
Rudie Can't Fail The Clash
All Star Smash Mouth
Bouncing Around The Room Phish
Hero Of The Day Metallica
Lose Yourself Eminem
Clocks Coldplay
Adagio for Strings Samuel Barber

I just put my copies in the mail. I had a hard time limiting the number of songs; I solved my problem by just choosing the best beats I could find, the stuff that really gets my blood flowing. I had to drop the warmup and cooldown tracks, so my CD title is "There is no warmup." Funny, while I was putting together this dance/techno/big beat/mashup playlist, I developed a mjaor urge to do a serious rock playlist. Maybe for the second round of music exchanges?

Mine will go out today...

HOWEVER....
Because my home pc is being a B!-@tch, I can't use my burner. So I've had to jump through many hopes to burn the discs. What I'm left with is a 18 Track - 690MB cd. When I converted the tracks from AAC to MP3, they stayed pretty big. Great Quality, but tough to put on a normal .mp3 player. Also, no matter what I tried, Roxio wouldn't label the tracks, so no song titles/artists when cd launches. It's a great cd (I think), but may require some work on your end to make it usuable...Sorry

What a cr@ppy week...again

possum - 2005-10-19 4:50 AM Thanks to those of you who sent money, esp those who sent more, as that will cover those who forgot!

KarenP is me.

I hope I sent enough cash.  I basically put in about double what it cost me to send my little package, just in case.

It's not like we're talking about  a whole lot of money here... $3.  I would have sent more, but that was all I had in my purse at the time.

I shoulda listed what I sent for songs on my CD...but then those that load them onto the computer can just check the tags for the song and artist etc. If you need them, I think I can come up with the list that I used. Of course my taste in music is a bit different (from what I've seen from everyone elses lists), so just chalk that up to old age (on my part)!

I'll list the songs here, but each CD should have a paper wrapper with the play list, and supposedly each file should be properly named -- but I was using itunes for the first time and it did some tricky stuff...

1-Brazil-Barefoot Records
2-Mahna, Mahna-The Muppets
3-Istanbul (Not Constantinople)-They Might Be Giants
4-The Oogum Boogum Song-Brenton Wood
5-I Like Big Butts-Sir Mix Alot
6-Salsa Mujer Latina-Thalia
7-Stop The Rock-Apollo 440
8-Hyperactive-Thomas Dolby
9-You Never Can Tell-Chuck Berry
10-Crazy In Love-Beyonce
11-Dame! Dame! Dame! (spanish cover)-A-Teens
12-Shake Your Tailfeather (featuring Ray Charles)-Blues Brothers
13-London Calling-The Clash
14-Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger-Daft Punk
15-Megamix-Gipsy Kings
16-Brass Monkey-Beastie Boys
17-The Devil Went Down To Georgia-Charlie Daniels Band
18-Blitzkrieg Bop-The Ramones
19-Shining Star-Earth Wind and Fire
20-Mr. Blue Sky-Electric Light Orchestra
21-Jump In The Line (Shake Senora)-Harry Belafonte
22-Move Your Feet-Junior Senior
23-Y Yo Sigo Aqui-Paulina Rubio
24-Let's Go Crazy-Prince
25-Tipitina Two Step-Bruce Daigrepont
26-Dance To The Music-Sly And The Family Stone
27-Going The Distance-Cake
28-Bullet And A Target-Citizen Cope
29-Into The Mystic-Van Morrison

As for "old age" I think I resemble that remark.  I think there's a reason some songs stick around so long -- they're good.

Geez, I can't wait until this exchange proves successful, so we can do this again and I can make a new playlist . . . Thanks, Possum, this is fun!

See... that's precisely why that song is on my own Pre-Race CD, but when I played it for my relay van group, they were all offended and such.

I'll start looking for a cool cover of "Jesus Loves Me."

Here's my list--I feel slightly less insane now:

Stayin' Alive--Bee Gees
Molasses--The Radiators
Hoodoo Voodoo--Billy Bragg
Extraordinary--Liz Phair
Float On--Modest Mouse
Whip It--Devo
Dancing in the Light--Entrain
Blister in the Sun--Violent Femmes
Rebel Yell--Billy Idol
Snaggletooth--Motorhead
The Jump Off--Lil' Kim
Bouncin' Around the Room--Phish (need a recovery song at this point)
L'Amour o La Folie--Beausoleil
I Got Drunk--Uncle Tupelo
All American Girl--Melissa Etheridge
A Little Excited--Greg Brown
Let Me Be Your Gigolo--Greg Brown

It's fun, trust me. At least if you're me.
