It's kind of fun-but when it happens a lot it becomes annoying. I don't want to get into a BF/GF relationship anytime in the near future. I have way too much other stuff going on.

Isnt it just like any other sporting obsession - every area has one and you have to deal with it... especially if you arent into that particular sport... The American South is not particularly friendly to cyclists in general. But the political correctness out here in California is driving me crazy. Raleigh/Tri-Cities area is pretty cool and reasonably well developed. This is coming from someone not fond of North Carolina. |

Y/N If offered, go? Y/N Apply? Y. Then worry about B. Pros: Supervisor/Career - I'd oversee 6 people 6K more a year Houses don't require donation of a kidney in Raleigh 5 hour drive from Savannah and my children Cons: A *lot* more work stress Unknown if the people that run the office are going to be any easier to work with than what I have here Its the South Winter/ice (just far enough north to get cold nasty rain and ice) Hurricanes NASCAR SO yuo get a pay increase AND a reduction in the cost of living? That seems pretty cool! Its a job promotion and youd be closer to yoru family... That versus superficial things like weather dont seem equal... although where is 'The Blonde' in this?
One thing no one has suggested but you must MUST do is call the office and talk to the people who would be hiring you and you would be working with... that will ensure that you get to find out what they like, what their vision is for how the company will progress over the next few years and what they see your role is and how they interact with that role... this will alleviate some of your concerns in terms of the people and how they operate... Its perfectly acceptable to ask those sorts of questions as it becomes clear you are serious about finding the right role professionally... |

I lived in the South DC/Fredericksburg/Richmond - from '91-99 and Jackson, MS from '99-'07. I really have very little that I like about the South. The whole NASCAR Billy Bob mentality just drives me crazy. And I'm already crazy enough as it is. It is amazing how much pet peeves and such can impact a persons mental/emotional state. It sounds annoying to live in an area of that sort.
Side note-when my lamictal gets to high-by as little as 25mg-I am really sensitive to pet peeves etc. When the balance is right, most things just roll off before they can start pushing my buttons. |

Ugh thats frustrating - some people just dont get you can be friends with a guy and thats ALL you want from them... I am fairly smart, but in HS I was really really depressed. I slept through most of AP calc and Physics, yet I still got phone calls asking for help with assignments. It was really funny-I had no clue what the assignments were. If I took the time I could generally figure it out, but who wants to pore over a AP calc book when you could be sleeping your life away. |

In HS, one did ask me to a movie. I had been so super depressed that I got involved with a LOSER(at the top of my biggest mistake list). The LOSER found out that this nice guy invited me to a movie and showed up. I felt so bad for the nice guy. It took nearly 2 years to get rid of the perverted, manipulative, emotionally/psychologically abusive LOSER. |
