BTW-

I am putting together a barebones table while my laundry is getting done.  Something fancier will be up before too long...most likely before the day is out, but I really should get some other stuff done first.  I guarentee it will be quite nice by saturday.  I'll PM the table directly to everyone.

I am so excited.  I should really get out for a pathetique workout or too just to let this cold know who is boss.

I've actually started to enjoy running in the cold.  Of course, you have to take into account what I consider cold.

I have really started enjoying running in the early morning under the light of the moon-typically it is anywhere from freezing to the mid-forties.

I was actually referring to the cold that is wreaking havoc in my respiratory system.  Yell Not the slightest bit fun.

We DID see snow in MS and LA last week...  Is that good enough to classify it as cold?

It is a chilly 76F right now!

Sure-cold is relative.  I see it as a degree of deviation from the average temperature of the region you are acclimated too.

(I may have butchered the statistics terms.  I don't think it matters in the long run.

Ahhh yeah.  Forgot you were fighting the ills.

Is it down in the chest and lungs?  Best to rest that, then.

Shools were closed, Walmart shelves emptied.  It was classic.

I also heard on the news that the MS department of transportation currently owns ZERO snow plows.

I was thinking of bundling up thoroughly and taking a brisk walk/easy trot.  I would even put a scarf over my face to keep the air I am breathing in a bit warmer.  Either way, I will definitely be taking it easy-lots of water, rest, and a balanced diet.

Sweet!  We had a bit of warning before the cold weather hit us in the Pacific NW.  The transportation departments were much better prepared than they have been in the past.  I think the drivers have been a little bit smarter on the road-not that it made them capable driving in snow and ice.  It is amazing how much traffic gets backed up here when it rains.  Come on people, this is Seattle!

Serendipity:

This video is a pretty good demo of changing a flat. The most frustrating part a flat change is usually getting a steal beaded tire back on the rim. Otherwise a cinch.

http://www.expertvillage.com/video/9238_bike-tire-change.htm

One thing i would change, when he rubs his fingers inside the tire (Bad Idea), instead use the palm side of a bicycle glove to do this - that way whatever object catches on the leather instead of your finger. Always carry a spare tube (correct size for your tire), tire levers, a pump and patch kit! I usually switch to new tube, and then repair old one at home - you can patch a tube several times before it's fully dead.

that is great advice.  I have never changed a flat and put in a few practice sessions.  I have a smaller version of my bike that I have cannibalized for used parts-I can practice on it-I could even pull a wheel off and bring it into my room where I will be more likely to actually use it.

Ah, I can spend snowy winter evenings watching videos and practicing changing bike tires.  Nothing like curling up in front of the fire with a tube, tire levers and a pump.  Wink

Actually we are getting a Wii for Christmas and, since I'm the only one in the house who can't seem to master video games, I suspect that bike tire might just be my best friend.  Maybe the dogs will hang out with me and my tire.

So what kind of repair did you have done on your knee Sesh?  I had a new ACL installed and a Meniscus repair done.  They took the middle of my lower patella tendon to make a new ACL.  Also what was your time frame from surgery to your first run to your Marathon?

My downfall to losing weight is definately my diet.  Time to start logging my intake I guess.  I have been working out 5 times a week for 2 months and have only lost a pound or 2.

PCL replacement (cadaver ligament) and they had to do repair my MCL.  There are pictures in my album that are pretty gross.

I had surgery in May '05, cleared to run August '06, ran a marathon in February '07.  Not recommended.  I was just bull headed.  It caused a lot of other pains and things that could have been avoided if I'd have just slowed it down.

Nice

I've gotten the kinks worked out (I think) I'll PM the functional table.

I am going to hold off until this evening to send it-I will put in a background first.

I managed to get the table into my log with only minor help from my husband.  (It's nice to have an IT guy in the house.)

Thanks for putting it together for us!
