Overall I'm satisfied with my time as I met my goals for T Rex #2:1) Improved my swim time...hey, I only started swimming at the end of Jan..."You mean there more to it than spinning your arms!" 2) Played it safe on the bike as I've never ridden in the rain and the internal helmet fixation cage broke leaving me with a floppy helmet. Better safe than sorry especially given the crash report by my fellow BTer cbs! Live to see another Tri. 3) Ran steady throughout without cramping (I'm prone to cramps). I had some fuel left to use but thought my right quad was getting skittish. 4) Improved my overall time. Less happy with my transition times which were worse. Definitely felt off in transition. I was THE end left corner as you faced the lake and it seemed like it took forever to get out of that corner. Goals for T Rex #3 in August: 1) Keep improving swim time. 2) Bike faster even if it's raining (get helmet fixed first!). 3) Use up the last bit of fuel for the run and don't fixate on the cramps. 4)Suck it up in transitions no matter where I am positioned 5)HTFU. Hope to see more of everyone in August!

Great race guys.

I am also happy with my time since I cut like 6 minutes from the previous T-Rex race. Finished 48 at 1:14:35 on my 3rd triathlon ever. I am more than happy with my results since I was 60 lbs heavier and a couch potato last december when I started training in a gym. Then I started swimming in January, started biking in April, and started running in may all for the first time. I'm hooked now!

I was afraid of the rain, but it did not bother me at all during the race.

In case anybody is interested, I have further processed the running fit results to include ranking for each discipline. Also added avg speed for the bike leg, and pace for the run (metric units). Finally, on top of the page, there is the average and best time for each time leg. This can help to see in which section of the race you can improve most I think, or at least situate yourself.

note: Except for "total time", all durations are in decimal minutes. In other words, 19.50 is not 19 min 50 secs but rather 19 min 30 secs.

p.s. I did this quickly, hopefully, no mistakes found their way in.

Hope this is useful.

Useful, this KICKS ###, thank you (although it also confrims just how lousy I was on the bike).

For those that want to convert the data to MPH & Min/Mile, here are links to caculators on both:

Very cool, thanks. I can now forgive you for beating me in both T-Rex series races this season.

I always crunch the numbers in Excel too, but unfortunately that is not making me a better cyclist.

Glad it could help.

I have updated the file back to the (mm:ss) time format and I have included standard units for speed and pace.

Also, the file is kind of big to load (429 kb) be patient...

Cheers and good luck on your next race

smoak - 2009-07-23 9:06 PM Good news, bad news. Good news: I took 7.5 minutes off my time from June!! 3 minutes off the swim and 4.5 on the run. Nothing off the bike despite having a new bike. Bad news: I still came in last in my AG. Moral of the story? When I go out on Thursday to practice at IRLA, don't ask where the group is swimming to on the other side of the lake, swim 300 yards away from where the group is swimming to, swim to them and then swim back. After the swim when the guy on the beach says, "You sure got your monies worth out of that lake", YES I DID!! 3 MINUTES WORTH! Now I just need my money out of my bike.

Girl, there was no bad news!!!  You did better than your last tri at that venue, pr'd 2 disciplines of three, passed people on the bike (WOOT) and felt better at the end of the race!!!!  TOTAL SUCCESS!  You never know who will show up on race day...doing the best that you can that day and improving are the goals...the rest is just gravy.  You had a great race...but I do have one concern...you actually think vasaline on your toes is yummy?  Hmmmmmm.  ;-)
