I had a good day today.  Started out with a short run, then met a new group for a bike ride -- well, I know them but I haven't ridden with them before.  We did ok, although there were a lot of conflicting "capabilities".  The funny thing was that everyone kept up and pretty much kept the same pace.  I'm not sure that will happen every time (there are some whiners), but it happened this time.  Anyway, good ride...

Then I went to the beach, and the sky decided to open up on me.  We didn't get to spend the afternoon as I wanted to, but that's ok -- the beauty of living at the beach.

Happy Labor(less) Day everyone!

kcarroll - 2009-09-07 6:19 PM Evening Nads.  Hope everyone had a nice weekend.  I was doing great until today. I woke up this morning with a good bit of knee pain, but decided to do the bike portion of the annual "birthday brick" with friends. Have a history of patella-femoral syndrome but it has always been precipitated by running hills.  Stupid bad decision.  Knee blew up at mile 13 and I sat on the side of the road until the birthday girls were able to come back and pick me up.  Have spent the afternoon icing.  Not going to adjust goals or drop out just yet, until I see how I'm doing the next few days. Last time this happened, I did a half mary six weeks post. Still stinks.

Ooh, bummer   Keep up with the RICE and hopefully things are feeling better soon.

disturbed275 - 2009-09-07 4:06 PM The weekend has been a good one for me so far, despite my football team giving me a heart attack on Saturday.  Training-wise I got in a decent run yesterday and then biked my first century today!

First century -- woo hoo!  And how do you feel???

Pretty good actually.  We'll see what tomorrow brings

Ouch, last place???  Where is everyone?  Hopefully we are just forgetting to update our spreadsheets, and not slacking off.  Or maybe we are late bloomers.  Or maybe we work better under pressure... It's gotta be one of those things, right?

When I was updating the spreadsheet this morning it looked like we had a few people who hadn't logged anything yet.  Hopefully they are just forgetting to update.

Ok, so I think our team is a mess.  I looked up the folks that are on the spreadsheet that haven't recorded anything.  "lambertjeff" has logged some on his training log, but he's never been on this thread so he might not know he's even on the team.  KrisSeer hasn't logged any training in September, and Slugger hasn't been heard from since her lumbar puncture.  So now what do we do???

I'm not ready to panic yet.  Let's give them a little more time or maybe an inspire or two.  Kris was at least on the forum chatting early on in the month and Slugger only has internet access from work so maybe she give us an update tonight now that the long weekend is over.  I hope all went well with her procedure.

It's still morning here -- so good morning back at ya!  It looks like we are talking to each other Neal.

I'm glad your legs felt good after your century.  Shows you were ready for it!

What's your weather like up in IA?  I have a business trip up there in about a month.  I know it won't be the same then as it is now, but I'm sure it will be cooler than here!  I'm usually a person who loves the summer, but it's really gotten to me this year.  I'm ready for some cooler temps...

Did a "tempo" run yesterday after work, and I thought I was going to die.

We've actually had a pretty cool summer.  Just last week we were hitting overnight lows in the 40s which is crazy low for this time of year.  Now we're hitting highs in the 70s pretty consistently and it has been quite pleasant to run in.

Just checking in.  Crazy week at work and not much time to BT.  Knee is still sore.  Am icing as much as I can (no freezer at the officeYell so after the first round cant refreeze the pack).  I am registered for a sprint tri this weekend, but think I'll be volunteering or cheering instead.  If I can't get back on track by next week will send Todd a note about adjusting or dropping.  This is my own darn fault for being a slacker on my PT exercises.

Cheri & Neal, keep the Nads going....Go Nads.  Still makes me giggle.  Really, someone should make a team sheet for this one.  I would keep it in my log permanently. Slugger, if you're checking in, hope you feel better soon.  Ciao for now.  Kim

Thanks for all the well wishes everyone!! The headache is slowly abating, with some residual carp hanging on (yuck!). Worst part is that the stupid thing came back clear, so now we don't really have any more answers than before. Well, I guess that isn't the WORST thing, as I don't really WANT to have MS, but, you know, answers would be nice.

So anyway, training is on hold until I can stand up straight. I PM'd Todd to see if I can hold off setting goals, or if he wants me to set them and then fill them in later. I gotta get my 8 rides in for work, and I really want to get my running back up. Oh well, we can only do what we can do, right?

You did?  It's a small world!  Yes I went to Tech a million years ago.   Back when I went to school there, our football team was pitiful.  But now they are decent (even though they lost on Saturday night), and they are fun to follow.

You are a long way from VA now, aren't you?  Looks like you headed north.  Virginia was my first step moving south where it's a bit warmer.

Good morning Nads!  It's another soon-to-be fun-filled day here, starting off with a run and then work, work, work.  Why does everyone (at least at my work) feel that even though we are only working four days, we need to get five days of effort in?  I'd almost give up three day weekends if we could quit the frenetic pace for the rest of the week -- well ALMOST give them up.  I still like having that extra day occasionally...
