re the $450....thats the price for the whole season.

you get a bushel of produce 1x per week for 20 weeks.

im thinking of doing the 1/2 bushel.

i'm the one eating the bulk of it.

i'll be VERY PALEO this spring/summer/fall.

stacieb

If it's just you the 1/2 bushel is probably a good idea. A bushel is a lot of food for one person.

skrtrnr - 2010-03-01 10:08 AM AFTERNOON GHOULIES.

at my favorite local bar/resturant.

working.  i am.  really.

trying to pound this new tour schedule for Joseph.  in the jostling we lost two venues...

im working my way down a new list of contacts.

your always working forward in this line of work.

developing which on the one hand is motivating,

which on the other hand makes it feel....openended all the time.

im realizing i like when thngs have a clear beginning middle and end.  its satisfying.

guess im gonna have to learn to 'deal'

which is OK.

and amazing the difference just lifting off those expectations that i had of myself made.

IM A NEW WOMAN!

its all good.

and i met the HIPPEST COUPLE here at Mad Mex today.

she recognized the scent of my lotion.  i always know the person is gonna be uber hip when they do

i shared with them about Josephs tour...apparently she suffers from migraines.  theyre going to make a point to make it to one of Josephs events after i told them about his work/that he could help.

then they shared with me about a CSA/Organic Farm where i can get a bushel of organic produce 1x a week, May through September for $450.  SCHWEEEEEET!

AND i was able to share guest passes to the Y wth them.  they've been wanting to visit/join.  SCORE ONE FOR THE Y.  and the husband was a competitive swimmer and looking to get back into it, so i was able to pass on info about the Masters swim team

i LOVE these seredipitious encounters.

the make my day for sure.

stacieb

Hey Stacie! I'm starting to think Mad Mex should put you on the payroll. With all the folks you meet there and the extra orders that come as a result, the least they could do is give you a commission! Seriously though, sounds like you had a cool afternoon!

I've heard of much sillier reasons for working a particular job. I figure if it's a place you'd go anyways and PAY to use, why not get paid to go there? I say if you can swing it, go for it!

Living in BFE we freeze a lot of veggies in the summer. I know nothing about canning though.

Last year we froze corn, green beans, peas, strawberries and carrots. My MIL and SIL also do broccoli. We also grow tomatoes, onions, peppers, and potatoes. My kids eat a lot of fresh fruits and veggies in the summer. I eat pizza.

my thinking exactly, TOM.

theres actually a girl that works here and she works at the Y too for the express purpose of getting free food/drinks.

she only works two evenings a week, she comes in after she leaves the Y.

so i know it doesnt take much.

its just fitting it into my schedule is all.

i was gonna work at Starbucks for the same reason BUT those A-HOLES at corporate discontinued the ONLY two things i drink, Signature Hot Chocolate and Mint Mocha Chip Frappucino.

SCREW EM.

ill just work at MAD MEX instead.

i have good friend that essentially has a mini farm in her backyard.

as soon as her DH is out of the Army, they're gonna get a real farm.

its in their blood.

she cans, jars, dehydrates, freezes et al.

she has filled my head with some of the BEST ideas.

and she's already told me that i can go to her house when the Apocolypse occurs.  LOL.

So Ghoulies, my son turns the big 1 0 on Thursday. I asked him what he wanted for dinner. I told him he could have anything at all, whatever he wanted. He thought about it for awhile and told me he'd like to have 2 Hot Pockets for dinner that night. I think I'll order a pizza for the rest of the family.

Boy of Boy, that son of yours needs to be introduced to some seriously good food if he chooses hot pockets for his birthday dinner.  LOL

That is great!!!

Would you like a Hot Pocket, too, Bill?

Nah - I had enough Pizza this weekend!  We ended up with a sheet pizza extra after our b-ball banquet and we got to bring it home - pizza it is!!!

I feel bad because I only have 2 small gifts for him. My baby is turning 10, I really wanted to get him something nice. What he REALLY wants for his birthday doesn't come out until the 14th, it's a new game for his DS. He knows it isn't out yet, so I might just cut out the picture and put it in his B-Day card or something and we'll get it when it's released.

I think that the picture promise is a great idea!

LOL

I was seriously expecting him to request a Pizza Hut meat lover's pizza, or pizza from our local shop with an order of Mozzarella sticks. Something like that. I'm thinking we'll have a little more than Hot Pockets for dinner.

He did put his cake request in. Yellow cake with white icing. I realize now that my son's food tastes are very boring.

skrtrnr - 2010-03-01 12:36 PM oh ANN.

re the $450....thats the price for the whole season.

you get a bushel of produce 1x per week for 20 weeks.

im thinking of doing the 1/2 bushel.

i'm the one eating the bulk of it.

i'll be VERY PALEO this spring/summer/fall.

I did that last year.  Some weeks we had fun trying to figure out what to do with what we got.  Some stuff I gave away (like okra), some we cooked and some we froze.  Haven't decided if I'll do it again this year, or just try to hit the local farmers market on my saturdays off.

Hi Kendra.

im still weighing out the option myself.  we have a GREAT farmers market right up the road, but ive heard w the CSAs you cant beat the variety.

the farmers market we have is great and they have most things, but they're the basics.

im thinking i will use the CSA as the base of my produce and then still get a few necessary/spur of the moment items at the farmers market up the street.

btw.  nice having you back in the Village.

Just wanted to drop the good news that I'm officially signed up for my first Tri now! It's the San Diego International Triathlon on June 27. It's an "almost" Olympic distance race, with a 1000m swim and a 30k bike. Oddly enough, the run is slightly OVER 10k. Oh well...

There is a Sprint I'm considering for May, but at least I have this one officially on the calendar. Nothing says "stick to your training plan" like financial obligation!!!

Sorry to hear about your SIL's rough day. I can only imagine the emotional damage that a loss like that inflicts on a parent. All my best to your SIL and the rest of your family....
