Subject: RE: Ghoulie August Assatar Challenge- Run or elsewgraves7582 - 2010-08-02 6:41 AM Is it confession Monday Ghoulies???
if so I have one - if not - you can all join in!
Last night my legs were so sore (and I don't know why) that I took advil.
I rode 1800 miles on the tour and never once took advil and last night I would not have been able to sleep if I didn't.
Why is that Ghoulies?????? Because bodies are weird. Yes, this is an awesome reason. I have more pain when I have recovered for a few days/ not done anything for a few days. My hypothesis is that the tissue starts to heal and any tissue that is damaged is starting to get broken down because it hasn't been used and the immune system comes in to clean and other cells come to remodel to react to the stress that has been put on muscle, bone, tendon, ligaments. This process releases pain mediators. Just my random justification to myself why I am in pain when there is apparently no reason. Ibprofen/Naproxen are my allies. I need them for anti-inflam with all the tendonitis/ITB/glut stuff going on....thing with them is that you can't take them when you are already in pain to prevent inflammation. They are good analgesics and that works right away, but for anti-inflam action you need to have taken them regularly for about 1-2weeks! |
