Forgive any typos ... just finished the 8 minute test. Hopefully I won't regret that for tomorrow's LT run workout. I'm still shaking.

Old FTP: 213
New FTP: 228
Weight: 192 lbs

W/Kg: 2.62

I'm hoping to hit 185lbs for my May marathon. That, combined with continued training should yield some solid results. What'll matter most is how much time in the saddle I sacrifice as I conclude marathon training. Onward!

You did the 8 min test at 5 am?  That's hardcore.  I don't think I've ever been able to go all out that early in the morning.  I'm still waking up in mid workout!

I'm with you, no way I could pull that off at 5:00am Great job Bernard

Alright..I am on the board.  http://www.trainerroad.com/cycling/rides/45317

FTP: 283

W/Kg: 3.83

This is the first time I have done the 5 minute clearing as a part of the 20 minute test protocol.  I thought it would negatively effect my 20 minute performance.  I was wrong.  I thought it really helped get the legs ready for the 20 minutes.

Great number... same here, but everytime that 20 starts I really wish I was more warmed up. The endorphines have not kicked in yet. But I did a 2x20 the other day and NO... that second one didn't fell good either.

Ha!  Yeah ... I'm a complete early bird. Yesterday I was up at 3:30 and out the door by 4am so I could get in a 12 mile run. I like to be done working out by 6am so I can have a slow morning before heading to work. I swim after work, and that feels great ... but I don't really enjoy evening runs. Once the weather warms up I have a few months of evening rides which I do enjoy ... but my hard workouts all tend to happen in the morning.

Okay, just did 8 minute test. Yee-ouch!

I did set 6 PRs though including a 5 min PR for the last part of the second interval.

Had a fun workout on TR today, the Sphinx.  It's a 2 x 10 min @ 106% workout designed by Jorge.  Good stuff, got my sweat on.  I can't wait to go out and ride on the road this weekend now.

Have road rides been discussed in relation to this challenge? Or are we just using our TR workouts. It won't be long before I am getting outdoors for weekend rides. Weekday rides will still be on the trainer for some time.

I don't think so. I don't mind having outdoor rides count for TSS, but many people don't have a power meter and that might be hard to calculate. Could just make things more complex at the moment.

It would help you in the watt/kg challenge though.

Yeah ... that was my thought. I don't have a power meter ... which is why I've been so thrilled to have TR all winter. As much as I'm looking forward to getting outside again, I'll miss the instant data provided by my TR rides.

Ya, that was the thinking. Outside rides still help for w/Kg, but can't be tracked for everyone on TR.

I'm just gonna put this out there. 3 hours on a trainer sucks $%&>.+- %##(-(. %*%%.. Nate, I'm sorry to pester you - I have to truck my bike back and forth to work to get in all my workouts for the next few weeks, and it might be difficult to get everything done via trainerroad. How close to downloading workouts to watches are we? And then, can we re-upload to the server?

I just tested Picket Guard today!

We plan on having about 5 or so workouts available to download on your garmin next week or the week after. We have to do them by hand because things are a little different than outside. It is cool stuff though.

We won't have a way to upload them back up to the site right now. It depends on how many people want to download the workouts and use them. If we get a lot of use, I think we'll have to allow people to upload them back. If people are like "meh" then we won't.

So I got in 2 TR rides last week. And I cut the Needham workout short in order to preserve my legs a bit for today's long run. I've got a goal half marathon on Saturday, and then heading to Boston to watch a bunch of friends run the marathon. It's looking like tomorrow is going to be my only day this week on TR.

I'm hoping to be a contender in the W/Kg improvements ... but I'm not counting on racking up a ton of TSS points.

That being said, I'm enjoying this challenge ... it's definitely getting me onto the trainer.

Ya... right now my main goal is to just get back to running 6 days a week with 3-4 bike work outs. I'm just trying to get back to a base to see what my body can handle because I have not done both consistently for a a while now.

I'm really tempted to get on the trainer and tear it up, but I need to stick to the plan. The last two weeks I have done really well sticking to the plan. So far so good on both. Now comes 4-5weeks of 60 hour work weeks, so if I can just make it to the end getting my runs in and following Jorge's FTP plan it will be a big successes and then it will be time to hit it much harder on the bike.

Got in a good TR workout last night, the Kingsbury.  Its a 5x5' @95-98% workout with 4' rest between the intervals.  Pretty good sustainable workout, got the quads burning just enough to feel it but not enough to waste me.  Me likey.

I did Jorge's famed 6x4 tonight. That was a good workout and I did good.... just saying that makes me think I did it wrong. But my FTP is up to date and I did have two days off. That work out is every week and dare I say I'm looking forward to it.. or at least some improvement.

it does it for you, click on your career tab on the TR website, it will list your average weight you input your current FTP and your watt/kg.

WOW!  I wanted to do a 2 x 20' workout today, and I was looking through the TR workouts and decided to go with Sufferfest Hell Hath no Fury.  I hadn't done this one in awhile and forgot how much it kicked your @ss!  I am totally spent now.  I did get a 1 mile run off the bike though... those were some wobbly legs

Did Huffaker on Tuesday. That felt good and I'm glad I raised my FTP to 210.

I'm supposed to do Donner today and a 3 mile run. It's super windy here in Reno today so I might replace 60 minute Donner with 90 minute Galena and skip the run. It targets the same zones but has longer intervals.

I'm trying to get a new Beta of TR out today with some bug fixes. If I get that out in time I get to ride .

Hey Nate, would you guys ever put together a Training program featuring only Sufferfest vids??  Or do they not contain enough steady state type stuff to be effective?

I absolutely love that combo of TR and SF, and i figure, if i am gonna ride inside, it will be short and hurt like hell!!
