Im sorry you are sick.... hope those antibiotics start working really FAST! |

Even when I think I have cut down on the amount of food, once I put it out I realize that I overplanned once again. Thanks! Im a sucker for wanting to make sure everyone has what they want too... so its like "Im making 3 desserts but if you just must have x at christmas time we better have that too..." Its also a really good excuse for me to try new recipes... which I LOVE to do Im sure there will be a few disasters but Ive just realised (given its going to be summer) I can do some of the meat a day early and serve it cold! |

Here's what happens when you run just 20 seconds faster than target pace: http://www.beginnertriathlete.com/discussion/forums/thread-view.asp?tid=46367 I could've sub-4ed this one, but I definitely ran faster than I should have at the start: Averaged 8:48s for the first 6.2 Ya see a pattern here? Pace. [/nag over] LMAO. Sal we all need a nag to keep us on the right track and you my friend are the best at it. |

My times the past week and a half have sucked, I'm struggling out there to even run under 10:00. It is so going to suck if I end up running a five hour marathon because I crashed and burned...
Ummm Hi spokes.... want me to give you one of my usual stop being silly pep talks? Or how about worship the Dark Master he knows what he is doing?
Oh.. and NO MORE DIET COKE! Adding sugar and caffiene to you when you are wound up will make it WORSE |

Master 1870 Fort Worth | Subject: RE: They Who Shall Not Be Named (Twisnibbins) V Donto - 2007-11-26 10:18 AM Hey how's everyone! Nice long weekend indeed, I kicked the BT habit until now! Hector, great job on the tri, way to go. I didn't read all the notes but I hope everyone had a good weekend & holiday (if applicable). Here' a pix of my son setting his 5k PR at the turkey trot with a 34:09, he came in 2nd place in the 10 & under AG! He already said he wants to do a 30 minutes for the next 5k run in Jan of Feb. So I have to become a coach now, not just Dad! BTW, his goal for this one was 11 min miles and we nailed it doing 5 min running and 1:30 walks. Now I've really become lard over the weekend and need to get my cardio going again. I have rock hard abs but can't see 'em ! Don your son is the man. That is so cool to see little kids make such a huge accomplishment, you must be extremely proud. |

Scott. NO, NO, NO! You've had considerably less volume the last 2 weeks and correspondingly your times will show that, but DON'T let that trick you into thinking you're not prepped! You've done your miles DILIGENTLY! Do not let that go to waste during taper. It's all about body recovery and building up your glycogen stores (read: energy you're going to need during hour 3). I know it's tough psychologically, but HANG IN THERE! It's about rest and glycogen stores. Take the time to read up on week prior nutrition. I've usually done high protein the first part of the week before, and slowly gone to ALL carbs (and low fat) to right before the race. Hang in there. You can do it. It'll be mental endurance from here. Your body's ready. Don't screw it up. Oh lookie Sal did the pep talk for me.... listen to him spokes... its the TRUTH! |

I think part of my problem is I ate at The Blonde's most of the weekend, and she's low carb, and I quit eating like a junkyard dawg and was actually eating 'good stuff'. But my body is fueled by nutritional and I need to go to Carl Jr's RIGHT NOW and get some crap. I needs my carbs and glycogen! I don't see how Popeye did it on Spinach, man. I need grease and simple sugars. I've got my six pack of Gu. I'm trying to figure out HTF to carry it without a race belt (I really hate the feeling of the belt attached to my waist. I'm thinking of duct taping them to my inside shirt, and ripping them off as I go along... or maybe duct taped to my race number belt. I could carry them in my Nike arm wallet, but I'm wondering whether I'll take my wallet or not... right now I'm thinking two layers with the temp being at freezing at start... a SS wicking shirt under a long sleeve one that unzips. I'm not going to wear anything tight, that just keeps the sweat stuck to my skin and makes me COLD and feeling constricted. Y'all have NO idea how flucking freaked I am right now. Umm you know you need carbs to fuel workouts... just add some bread/pasta and potato to whatever your girl serves up and youll be good... nothing wrong with turning up to her place for the weekend with a loaf of bread and a bag of bread rools... Would be better than a burger Well a fast food one anyway As for the gels.... if you were a chick Id tell you to tuck them into your bra! |

I haven't found a good way to carry gels either. My race number belt has several loops in it, almost like a bullet belt. I just stick the gels in the loops. Have to deform them a little to get them in, but it works. Here's a link you might want to check out: It takes your training volume (run AND bike) and gives you somewhat of a race predict based on your training. It's got a 4:07 predict for you (coincidently my PR) at a 9:25 min/mi pace. I hope you bust through my PR buddy. |
