That's awesome. Plus that way you can sign up for a biking goal in the Aug challenge as well. What fun. I got another 3.07 miles in tonight. They where sub 8 min/mile but I was hurting really bad from the walleyball adventure (bruised left side from falling). Plus I had more beer then I normally drink so tomorrow I will be very dry. I guess I will have to take it easy. |

Master 2201 Elgin, | Subject: RE: CASUAL run challenge--july The duathlon race I am doing this weekend is raffling a Scott Addict R3 (I think) away after the race. I really hope that I win it, since it is worth about $5,000 and I am loyal to the Scott brand. Let's keep the fingers crossed. |

Expert 642 | Subject: RE: CASUAL run challenge--july I'm excited about tomorrow. I told you guys, right? Team Luna Chix is sponsoring a preview bike/run at my sprint tri course set for Aug 24th? I'm really excited about my first REAL group ride, too. I love meeting people so this will be fun! I don't know a soul that is going to be there but it looks like about 20-30 people are going to attend. Anyway, super exicted...just wanted to tell someone. |

Veteran 232 Rio Rancho, New Mexico | Subject: RE: CASUAL run challenge--july Yesterday was finally the day of our postponed 5th Annual Toga Run with the group of folks at work I run with. Each year we pick a day in the summer and we all dress up in togas and run from our workplace down the main street through the city and generally make fools of ourselves. We run to a randomly selected local eatery and then all eat Caesar salads and then run back to work. This year we ran about a mile or so down the main street, which can be a real challenge if you have a poorly tied toga (yes, we do have a regular frequency of wardrobe malfunctions!) and arrived at McDonalds (Yuck!). We ate chicken caesar salads and then ran back. It was hotter than heck out there (95F+) and fairly humid so it made it a real challenge to run back on a full stomach in the heat. We got plenty of car horns honked at us (and a few unmentionable comments!) and even had people taking pics on camera phones when they stopped at the traffic light. We seemed to get more honks on the way back (so we must look better from the front than the back! Here are a few pics so u can see for yourselves In the pci below I am in the middle with my friends Frankie (an Ironman veteran) on left and Michael (will be doing first Tri in Sept) on left. I am in the middle. I am second from he right in the pic below And below is a pic of me in my Toga. I am so glad I have lost about 50lbs in the last 6-7 months.....it is much easier to look at these pics now rather than the ones from previous years...LOL!

Master 2339 somewhere over the rainbow | Subject: RE: CASUAL run challenge--july what's H&M?? also -- JEALOUS!!! i've been wanting to see mamma mia too, but can't justify leaving the kids for that long to go see a flick all by me onesie i'll do it eventually though. dh messed up the bearings in the front wheel last night, so he's going to try to fix it this morning (before he goes to florida) otherwise i'll have to take it to a bike shop. but my hope is that i can ride it today. am supposed to be having a short easy run (according to my training plan thing) but i am going to try to make it up tomorrow or monday because it just isn't going to happen today. |

Master 2201 Elgin, | Subject: RE: CASUAL run challenge--july Today is a much needed rest day, that way I can be as fresh as possible for the race tomorrow. It should be lots of fun. The race is taking the place of my long run this week. It was suppossed to be 6 miles, but he duathlon has two 4mile segments, so I think it is a fair switch. What is everybody elses plans? |

Master 2339 somewhere over the rainbow | Subject: RE: CASUAL run challenge--july today my dh is flying to florida and my sister and i are throwing my mom a big birthday party. so that's what's taking the place of my short easy run today (LOL my plan says 2 miles @ 14:47 pace, my average pace is about 10-so i'm not sure why it says i should be doing 14.47 but whatever) then tomorrow i'm hoping to ride my new bike (dh is taking it to the shop on his way to the airport, he can't fix the wheel with his tools-so i'll ride if i get it back in time) and catch up my short run from today. what i'd really like to do from now until danskin is at LEAST three days a week i need to ride and then run. and probalby twice a week i'll get in to my wetsuit and swim. might even do a few "practice" tri's. i know it sounds vain, but i really want to do well at danskin. my first race was sort of embarassing, and my second race was downright mortifying, so it'd just really really mean a lot to me if i could do well @ danskin. and of course i really want to have fun. i was in a bad place mentally at my last race, i was really dissapointed, and frustrated, and i totally didn't let myself enjoy it. so that's my big danskin goal, to do well, and to actually enjoy myself. |

Expert 642 | Subject: RE: CASUAL run challenge--july FYI: HAD A BLAST today in my sprint "preview" ride/run. Here's a little "race report" for you guys. Took off with the fast girls and kept up really well. 1/2 mile - 1 mile into my ride I realized I had left my water bottle in the car! Dang it! I was keeping up really well and was third in the pack so I felt pretty good about that. There was about 40 or so people there this morning so it could have been a lot worse. About 1/2 way into the ride I realized I didn't start my watch so now I'm going to have no idea how long it takes me to ride 17.5 miles. That's okay because I didn't ride 17.5 miles anyway...was following the leaders and they MISSED A TURN!!! Dang it! They didn't get too far off course but the road they didn't turn onto was the "big hill" of the course. So here I am turning around to get this big hill and could barely make it up. UGH! That's okay, I thought - I'll make up for it on the way down the hill...and I did. I don't have any idea how fast I was going but I do know it's the fastests I've EVER gone! It felt AMAZING. I was just praying for no bumps in the road. I ended up having to pass all these people on a fairly busy road but made the 17.8'ish mile course in about an hour. The transition area was so silly...go put your bike in the car, casually get changed into your running gear, take a few sips of water (or, in my case...MANY sips of gatorade 'cause I was so dehydrated) and then take off for the run course. I had two ladies with me for the run and there were some nice hills there. Glad they were with me because we pushed each other through a few of the hills. All in all it was a great preview of the course. I really wanted to jump into the lake after the run but with the "no swimming" signs all over the place I opted out. I'm really hyped for the race at the end of August. At least now I've got a good idea of the course and will know what to expect. BTW, I've gotta tell you that I'm surprised I performed as well as I did. Long story short - bad dinner last night, couldn't eat bagel this morning, ended up eating (ready for this...) a bag of M&M's for breakfast and a bite of raspberry scone from Starbucks plus about 4-5 sips of coffee and a bottle of water. My stomach was turning like crazy this morning but believe it or not the M&M's seemed to help make it feel better. It was so crazy! I'm sure proper nutrition will help me kick some arse the day of the race! |

Master 2201 Elgin, | Subject: RE: CASUAL run challenge--july Went to the packet pickup today for my race tomorrow. The bike that they are raffleing tomorrow is not the same one that they said they are giving away, though still a nice bikie. They said it was a Scott Addict R2 $5700 instead is is a Scott Plasma $3700. Not to mention the addict is a road bike where the plasma is a tri bike. I would still except it, but I feel a little lied to. Oh well I guess. |

Veteran 232 Rio Rancho, New Mexico | Subject: RE: CASUAL run challenge--july Hey folks, I have been slacking on my running this month....just as well this was a casual deal eh?.......and the last week or two has been tough trying to get my planned training in at all, but I did not too bad overall and my biking improved a fair bit thsi month. Anyway, I'm off on vacation with the family tomorrow. Woo Hoo!. We are going to the Sacramento/Folsom CA area for nine days. My dw has 3 days work over there so we decided to make it a family vacation and go out there and spend a bit of time there since I have never been. I will be offline for the whole time with no access to a computer. So I will be absent from BT for a bit. But don't worry I will still be training and will catch up when I get back. Hope you all finish the month of well and I'll check in when I get back. |
