So I'm not sure if this has been answered somewhere in the pages here but I have a silver membership and just imported this plan and do not see the details in my planned blog. It only shows sport and time/distance. Also am I supposed to do the distance or the time? because my day tomorrow says I need to do 3100m in 1hr which is not going to happen.

Ended up taking a break from training Friday and Saturday so I could go snowboarding with some co-workers all day Saturday.  Unfortunately, I didn't feel my heart rate increase as much as I had hoped so I started regretting not training on Friday.  However, come Sunday morning my muscles said otherwise. Yell  I'm now waiting for my back and legs to recover so I can do some running and swimming later today after work.  Anyone else enjoying the winter sports while training?

Recorded my longest swim ever today of 2450 yards.  Didn't really time myself but it took around an hour...I just wanted to finish.  Warm up was 4x150, main was 275 ladder by 25 down to 25 (275...250...225...[25]) and cool down was 200.  I was getting less tired as I went on...it was awesome!

Wow, I just got my butt handed to me at the pool.

300m warm up and then 30(!!!)x100m (with fins).  First 10 on 2:00, no problem.  5 on 1:50.  5 on 1:40.  Last 10 on 1:30.  Oh, and then we had about 10 minutes left over so out we came to do some sprints.  Dove in and did 6x25m on a minute.  Oh, but there was a catch - no breathing for the full lap.  Thank god for my synchro background.  I did the whole thing but I swallowed a lot of water tonight and I'm falling asleep at my laptop now.  LOL!

Right on, dude!  My longest so far is about 3100m.  I totally would have never done it but my younger brother has been kicking my in the pool.  He had me do:
200free + 100back + 100pull as a warm up
50m individual medley (free/back/breast/fly)
10X100free on 2:30
10x100pull on 2:45
100kick
8x25free on :50
then a 200 cooldown.

Crazy thing is I had the same experience as you though in that I felt like it was getting easier (had more energy) towards the end.

You should try to do the distance. Lots of people wonder this as well, as the times listed for swim workouts are usually pretty fast. Looking into the importing issue now and will report back.

Woke up with a little tightness in my chest...probably a muscle from breathing in the pool yesterday.  Hoping I start to feel better--have a run with my coach today.  Puhlease!

Looks like we all had long swim workouts scheduled

I had my longest continuous swim yesterday at 2000m. I was pretty unmotivated going into the workout, for some reason I was pretty tired and my legs have been exhausted. I can't wait for Thursday and to have an off day. But I still got in my swim and it didn't go as well as planned.

I was happy to finish, but my legs felt really heavy and sinky the whole time. I also kept getting water when I was breathing for some reason. But I was able to swim 1.25miles continuously in a time of 41minutes. Which makes me happy.

I did my morning workout as well, so I get the rest of the day to work and relax. Feels nice!

That's absolutely awesome.  Hope i'm there with you soon.  Just got a good 6.5mi run and speed swim tonight.  Hoping to have a great week!

I guess I should chime in here as well.

If you guys want cycling motivation then ride with a cycling club.  I did that last Saturday and boy did I have  a hard time keeping up with them.  It's a group ride and there is drafting almost all the time.  We rode close to 50 miles in under 2 hrs!!!  I was so under their fitness level that one of the strongest riders pushed me a couple of times so that I can get more momentum.  That ride motivated me to do long rides EVERY weekend somewhere in the vicinity of 2 hours or more and harden the eff up on the trainer.  After the ride, some of us ran for 4 miles.  On that part I was able to keep up.  We had 8:12 pace.

Yesterday was a long day of training (for me).   I squeezed in a 30 minute run at lunchtime.  Swam 2650m in 50 minutes after work, and followed it up with a 45 minute ride on the trainer.  Main swim set was 1500m.

I'm currently at week 8 (8 weeks left) of the 20-week beginner HIM plan in prep for my mid-March OLY and end of April HIM.

Like what I read at the boards here at BT and what I'm doing, just take each day as it comes and don't worry about the next coming days.  Look at the next day's workout at night then think and not worry about it.  That is unless you have plans like a snowboarding trip Laughing

Good luck to everyone on their training and don't sweat it out if you missed a day.

Good for you!  I'm the same about punishing myself with a little extra for procrastinating.

I got my trainer set up today and did 45 minutes easy.  Whew, not quite so easy as I'd planned.  LOL.

Ok...so...I know this has been discussed before in this thread, but I am going through the swim terminology and have a question.  I have a speed day in week 12 tomorrow:

The warm up and cool down are understood, but the main is:
16x50: descend 1-4, 5-8, 9-12, 13-16

So this means that in every 4 sets of 50, i start (set 1) at a higher RPE, then lower, then lower, then lowest.  Then I restart set 5 at a high RPE, and repeat the same process 5-8, then 9-12, then 13-16

Is this correct?

I've always used time when swimming because ... well, the swim coaches I've had think we'd all slack too much if we used RPE.  So for me, it'd be more like 50 on a minute (or whatever is a decent pace for you) and then descend each set from there.  Set 5 would start again at a minute and descend for the next 3 and so on.

Is that what you were saying or the opposite?

I think this is what I was saying.  If it got faster it would be ascending.  Thanks!

Hmm, no, for me descending refers to the time which is getting smaller because I'm going faster.

Ha, perhaps I should've shut up.  But that's what I've always been taught.  I've never done an ascending set.

You're probably right...since they usually talk about effort in the plan and not time i thought about descending effort.  Since effort and time have a negative relationship, these are completely different.  Any clarification anyone?

Not even sure if this is the correct forum =)

Hi everyone,
Started training for my first Half IM, but still have not decided when/where - most likely sometime in May/June and hopefully somewhere near the Ocean.
I have raced in two Olympic Triathlons - my swimming is still deficient so I'm focusing on my form this time around.
Even though I get my 8 hours of sleep, I feel tired.. and even though I eat my 4 meals, I'm always hungry!
This is the first time I will follow a program - so far I like the structure that comes from following one.
I think the hardest thing is going to be able to balance my training with my diet and rest. I welcome any tips!  I have already started bringing everywhere I go -  a protein bar, some fruit and those delicious mixed nuts they sell at Trader Joes.
Happy training everyone!
Cheers,
Beto
