Master 2201 Elgin, | Subject: RE: CASUAL run challenge--july dcrunningdiva - 2008-07-26 5:39 PM tlnewman30 - 2008-07-26 6:52 PM Went to the packet pickup today for my race tomorrow. The bike that they are raffleing tomorrow is not the same one that they said they are giving away, though still a nice bikie. They said it was a Scott Addict R2 $5700 instead is is a Scott Plasma $3700. Not to mention the addict is a road bike where the plasma is a tri bike. I would still except it, but I feel a little lied to. Oh well I guess. You could always resell....just a thought. I could, but in the long run it will still save me some money, since then I wont need to but my wife a tri bike. I guess you take what you can get. |

Master 2339 somewhere over the rainbow | Subject: RE: CASUAL run challenge--july hey, yeah, if you're not interested, i'll take it off your hands for ya. never hurts to have a backup right? STILL NOT RIDING MY BIKE!!LOL so yesterday my dh took my front tire in, it was so not a big deal, took 10 seconds to fix, and the guy only charged him $5. SO he came home last night and put it on, everything is great, he goes out to the garage to get the air pump to pump up the tires, and the DANG THING DIDN'T FIT!! oh my gosh! the air pump thing that we have didn't fit on the valve on the bike. i really should have expected it, LOL anyway, dh is going to see if he can find whatever it is that he needs for it today, but now i'm going YET another day not riding it. i haven't even SAT on the thing yet, since while dh was trying to FORCE the thing to fit, he managed to let ALL the air out of the tires, yet not put any back in. -- really, if you look at it objectively it's all very funny, and i'm sure in a few weeks when i'm not this frustrated, i'll laugh. but danskin is RAPIDLY approaching, and i'm not ready. anyway, there's my woe of the day. maybe i'll have that easy run i didn't catch yesterday, then at least i'm doing SOMETHING. |

Champion 23360 Taser-World | Subject: RE: CASUAL run challenge--july Yes, I know you guys know about this already, but I posted it on the other July challenge threads, so I'll post it here, too. The TdF Challenge will be over soon. So how are you going to stay motivated NEXT month? Interested in another challenge? There is a "Casual Challenge" planned for August. You can set goals for RUNNING and/or SWIMMING and/or BIKING and/or OTHER (strength, yoga, etc) and/or WEIGHT LOSS. (You may sign up for ANY or ALL of these goals.) There will be no teams (unless we get a lot of people signing up, then I'll split the group). It's just a friendly challenge to help people achieve their workout and weightloss goals. Click below to read about the August challenge, or sign up for it: http://beginnertriathlete.com/discussion/forums/thread-view.asp?tid... - Dee |

Master 2201 Elgin, | Subject: RE: CASUAL run challenge--july So the race is over. I did alright. Turns out I was the only one racing in my age group for the duathlon, so I guess that means I win. The first 4 mile run portion wasn't that bad (under 32 min), but the second was hotter than I am used to and I wasn't as hydrated at that point as I would have like to be (somewhere around 38 min). Once the race posts the results I will get a more accurate number. I didn't win the bike, which I figured would be the case, so it didn't matter anyways. I still feel as if it was false advertisment though. |

Every little condition, both within your control and outside of your control will effect the outcome of a run. The most important part is that you are at least out there and doing it. |

Expert 642 | Subject: RE: CASUAL run challenge--july Kenny Black - 2008-07-27 12:15 AM Hey folks, I have been slacking on my running this month....just as well this was a casual deal eh?.......and the last week or two has been tough trying to get my planned training in at all, but I did not too bad overall and my biking improved a fair bit thsi month. Anyway, I'm off on vacation with the family tomorrow. Woo Hoo!. We are going to the Sacramento/Folsom CA area for nine days. My dw has 3 days work over there so we decided to make it a family vacation and go out there and spend a bit of time there since I have never been. I will be offline for the whole time with no access to a computer. So I will be absent from BT for a bit. But don't worry I will still be training and will catch up when I get back. Hope you all finish the month of well and I'll check in when I get back. Vacation with no computer???????????? Absent from BT??????????????? What kind of crazy talk is that?????????????? ...btw, Have fun! |

You did an awesome job today! Well done 1st place too. Niiiiiice.
I got lost on my race today. LMAO. There was no one at the turn we needed to take and I went an extra few miles. One person - a little kid....think he was 12 did 29 MILES before coming back AND he STILL RAN! It was such a good day for a race, it had rained last night and the air smelled so nice, the roads were dry and the lake water was a billion degrees! I came 3rd out of the water too...woot. Tasted nasty though. Blech. The run was on a trail which is also easier plus looking at all the waterfront property helped a bit too. Got some nice yard ideas LMAO! I felt so good today! Benefit from NOT smoking....YAY!
Hope you all had a spiffy weekend |

Master 2339 somewhere over the rainbow | Subject: RE: CASUAL run challenge--july allrighty, so check my blog for the continuing bike drama, BUT i have a question for you guys. i finally have the bike. my front tire is fixed. i got the new pump, and now i have tire issue. they say 130psi. is that RIGHT? doing my flat out best (and i admit to not having a ton of upper body strenght) i can't get it any higher than about 60psi. so i've posted my question all over this website looking for an answer. does it HAVE to be 130psi? will it be faster? is it ok to ride it when i can only get it to 60? the tires feel REALLY tight when i touch them, is it possible that the tires are mismarked, and i'm actually going to explode the tires trying to get them to 130psi? still waiting on the first ride. but looks like tomorrow morning?? (LOL--yeah right!!) |

(LOL--yeah right!!) Hate to tell you this but if you have a hand pump you are going to be hard pressed to get it up to 130. You need a floor pump. YES, you need to get it up to 130 psi. There is typically a "range" to get it into...like "115-130 psi" so maybe 115 would be okay but there is NO WAY I would ride it at 60 psi. It's not about the speed - its about safety and wear/tear of your bike & tires. |

Master 2339 somewhere over the rainbow | Subject: RE: CASUAL run challenge--july ok. first. ME TOO!!! i've been listning to abba for like a week solid!! second, i'm wondering a few more things about tire pressure. the pump that i have is the kind that you can mount on your actual bike, so i ASSUMED that i would be able to get it to it's desired psi, since i'd be using it on the road or whatever. so if i need a whole other pump, that would stink. the other thing is, is it possible that my gauge isn't right? is there another way to check tire pressure? i don't want to wreck it riding on it if the pressure isn't right, but i'm kind of not sure what to do. stinky stinky stinky! |

Master 2339 somewhere over the rainbow | Subject: RE: CASUAL run challenge--july so i finally got my tires dealt with. my dad has a compressor, so i took it over there (turns out that his compressor and my tires weren't compatible, but i sucked it up, and used my frame pump, and got them up to 100psi that is without a doubt as FULL as i can get them, but i'll have dh see if he can get them any higher) yesterday i rode it just down the street and back (it was freaking POURING down rain, but i couldn't resist LOL) it felt AWESOME!!!! it is going to take a while for me to get the whole gear thing down, it's really confusing to me for some reason, it's like i have an understanding of it in my head, but as a practical application, i got nothing LMAO!! anyway, as soon as dh gets back from his power walk i'm taking it our for a good long ride. yay tracy on getting in the 12's!!! that is SUPER RAD!!! i started out about a year ago in a 14 and i perfectly remember my first pair of 12's! (and 10's and 8's and so on ) there's absolutely something magic about running as far as getting in to smaller pants!! anyway, congratulations!! my teeny little word of advise though, don't buy any pants in your new size that you completley LOVE, because you won't wear them for long before you'll be getting the next size down, and it's a heartbreaker to chuck pants that you love and haven't even had for very long. BTW--you gonna be around much today? i was going to call you 1130-ish, my time. |
