brick94513 - 2010-04-07 9:00 AM Good morning "A" team!  Caught a case of insomnia last night.  Woke up at 5am and couldn't get back to sleep, so I thought I would try to sneak a west coast post in before Bill.  Hmmm... no such luck!

Must be something in the "A-Team air".  I had a very rough night's sleep, which after a double-up workout day is very uncommon.  Maybe I'll curl up under my desk and take a nap, George Costanza-style!!!!

I went to bed at about 11.  Then my middle boy came in around 2 and sprawled out in the bed.  Then, my wife came home from work at 4:30, put my little guy back in bed, changed, use the bathroom, and so on.  By then, I was awake.  I laid there for a while, but there was no falling back to sleep.

I had one of those nights where you're waking up and looking at the clock about every 45 minutes.  It was pretty warm last night and we probably would have been better off turning on the A/C, but the penny-pincher side of me has a hard time flipping that switch in early April.  Also had a weird dream about having to sleep in a bed infested with mice.  But that's for another therapist session.Embarassed

I was with you right about to this point....

Me too...  And now I worry that I'm going to be dreaming tonight about my bed infested with mice.  I have been worried that my cat seems to be hunting something in the house...

I'm sure that's where the dream came from... our cat brought us a 2:30am "present" a week or two ago.  A dead mouse.  Our house backs up to a horse farm, so we get a little critter about once every other month.

pdbman - 2010-04-07 9:25 AM Just checking the weather in Anaheim (where we're going for the school trip) and of course the forecast is nice until the day we get there. Then the fog rolls in and the the temperature drops and there is a chance of rain on the day we're supposed to go to the beach. I'm going to have to talk to the person that scheduled this trip.

Paul, what are you guys going to do in Anaheim?  My parents live about 10 minutes from there.  I grew up in Orange County.

The kids are competing in the Heritage Music Festival (I don't remember what school it is being held at), then we're doing the Disney thing.

Ouch!  Disneyland on Spring Break; How I don't envy you!  We did that a couple years ago and it was nuts.  Sorry, I don't mean to rain on your trip.  If you need any info about the area, let me know.

Yeah, we usually go earlier in March but it was our spring break so they moved it back. I have a habit of going to D land on days when they set records for attendance. If it gets too bad I can go take a nap on the bus or I can bring my shorts and go for a run. We'll see how it goes.

I got a 1 mile swim in at lunch.  I was thrilled to finish that 72nd lap and look at the clock to see it only took me 41 minutes.  I was expecting closer to 50 or maybe an hour.  Finally starting to feel the stroke coming back after the offseason.  Woot!  I just ate a huge plate of rosemary chicken risoto from our cafeteria.  It was surprisingly good.  2:30 food coma, here I come!

P.S. I love swimming at the Y at lunchtime.  There is never more than 1 or 2 swimmers in the pool at that time... ever.   I've heard a lot of stories of people fighting through crowded lanes at their pools.  It's so nice to get a whole lane to yourself for as long as you want.

My BIL ended up staying overnight with family and slept on the floor.  He felt something on his leg in the night that woke him up.  A mouse had crawled up his pant leg. He was glad he learned how to handle this when he was living in South America somewhere for a couple of years. Smack! Squeeze until you feel a crunch, then stand up and shake it out of your pant leg. That would definitely give me nightmares for a day or two.

I sometimes take a late lunch and head over to the Y close to work for a swim.  There is NO one there in the pool from about 1:30 to 4:00 or so.  Although, last time I did that I ran into someone I used to work with that knows my boss...  now I'm nervous.  I've been swimming at night the last few weeks, right before the pool closes.  Always get a lane then too!

I wish there was a pool close to where I work. . . Unfortunately, my gym with a pool is closer to my house than work, so I'd have to go either on the way to work, or on the way home.  Which is what everyone else does, too Undecided

wgraves7582 - 2010-04-07 12:15 PM I have an awesome story:

I get home last night and my son is making a grilled cheese.  I ask him to make me one.  His comment - Why didn't you call me from the road and I would have had one ready for you (I was riding 1st of all!).  I tell him come on make me a sandwich.  So he does after he cut his in half.  As he is making me mine I steal one of the halves of his and stuff it in my mouth.  He turns around to leave and goes hey????  I look at our dog and blame her while still chewing!

We laughed so hard.  I offered him half of mine but he didn't want it!

Later he made me payback by letting him have my cereal for a snack instead of his.  Yes I have my own cereal and they get in trouble for eating it

I have an awesome son - just want you all to know

Awww, that's cute! Smile

The beauty of my work schedule.  I work 48 hours, but then I have four days off.  But, on those four days I'm Mr. Mom.

I'm jealous.  Most of us have to do our workout FOR our lunch.  You get to go to lunch, then do your workout after.

The beauty of my work schedule.  I work 48 hours, but then I have four days off.  But, on those four days I'm Mr. Mom.

I've heard about some of those crazy fireman schedules. The worst one I heard about was in Charlotte NC.  3 days on 3 off,  2 on 2 off, 1 on 1 off. Planning around that schedule would be a nightmare. Most of our local guys work alternating 12 hour shifts for three days then have three days off.

Tim - what does Mrs. Brick do?  Is she a nurse?  I saw her hours when you said what time she came home?

Look at the deductive reasoning on BillWink  Yep, she's a nurse.  She works in the trauma center emergency department.  Her shift is 3P-3A.

She only works on my days off.  This way one of us is always home for the kiddos.  But, unfortunately, we don't get a lot of time off together.  Its not forever and it works well for us now.
