So very disappointed you missed the pumpkin cheesecake...

I've made pumpkin cheesecake. It's much more tasty than pumpkin pie in my opinion and I dont' have to worry that my pie crust isn't as lovely as my grandmother-in-law's.

I don't like pumpkin pie because of the slimy texture... but I like the actual taste.  I make pumpkin cheesecake lots and it's deeeeee-lish!

wgraves7582 - 2008-10-22 7:15 AM Morning Nibbs.  Guess our fall is over, we had snow showers over night!  Not enough to stick, but enough to let us know that winter is coming   Time to throw the snow tires on the mountain bike I guess!

We've got snow in the forecast for this Saturday...perfect day for a run...

run, snow, and perfect used in the same sentence.............

:/

First run in the snow...a time-honored Minnesota tradition...

I would celebrate by staying inside by the fire and drinking hot chocolate.  But whatever.

heh... we just freak out and close down all the schools and businesses.

You forgot to mention the traffic coming to a standstill while everyone tries to get home before the snow starts (generally by a good 12 hours or so) and the mad rush to the grocer stores.  Never know how long that inch and a half of snow may keep you house bound!

Gas up the cars!  Bring in the plants!  Get the flashlights!  Does the generator work?!

Of course it never ends up snowing anyway.

Ahhh winter. The high today here is forecasted to be about 55 degrees. No snow, though. But I'm ok with that. I'm sure we'll have plenty in the valley soon, and it will stick around until the end of March. So, yeah, no snow for now is a good thing, IMO.

That is when they are calling for 2 or more feet at one time.  Anything under 12" is a pain in the butt.

I was in Annapolis, MD last winter and it started to snow and the kid at the register was like be careful in the snow, it had just started and was not even sticking to the ground.  I told him I was from Buffalo and that is not snow, it is just an inconvenience.

I love the first big snowfall.  Go outside and walk around the woods.  It is so peaceful.  If you don't ever get to experience that you are truly missing out on an awesome experience!  The snow crunches under your boots while you are walking.  The squirrels and rabbits are still trying to collect winter food.  You can follow deer tracks around.  Then we head to the sledding hill and have a blast.

I do actually miss snow... but I'm from Maryland, and that's about the right amount of snow for me.  It snows a little throughout the winter, maybe one or two big snows.  Schools generally close if the roads are messy and the kids get to enjoy it.  BoyToy, who hails from Boulder, was never much impressed by any of the hoopla there over the snow and you should see him laugh at the "snow" here...

In Atlanta, my favorite thing about impending snow (that usually never ends up happening, though we did have TWO snowfalls last year) is "STORM WATCH... 2008!" as they are breaking into regularly scheduled programming to update you about the inch of snow we *might* get.

With that said, I could give you a whole list of silly things like this that I find absolutely endearing about living in the south.

Edited because, apparently, I forgot every grammar lesson I ever learned or taught.

x2  Most people don't understand why I pass it up during the holidays.

My favorite pies are pecan, apple, and blackberry/marionberry/rasberry.

How dare you speak of pumpkin pie in such a bad manner!!! You know there are pumpkin pie karma consequences because of these words you 2 have spoken. That is all I am saying (jk) seriously you guys are wrong, so very wrong.

It is not the pumpkin I dislike-it is the way it is prepared.  I have some great recipes that use lots of pumpkin.

I do like the flavor, just don't like the texture of pumpkin pie
