kcarroll - 2009-12-11 8:01 AM Hi Ann.  What do you have on tap for today?

I am working until 10 this morning, then I'm off to take the Microsoft test I've been studying for forever. I'm not the best test taker so I hope I pass. Then I'm doing a bit of Christmas shopping while I'm out. And the best part of my day is I am going to dinner with 2 of my favorite people in the whole world. I haven't seen them forever so I CAN'T WAIT!!!

I may also end up at the doctor's office with my son. He has a sore throat and the white blotches on the back of his throat. I told him and my husband last night that he should stay home from school today. My husband is going to call this morning to get him an appt. Because of my test my husband is going to take him, but I will meet them there if I can.

Then tomorrow is a trip to the pool, and run some missed miles from the week. When I go home I'll bake some cookies with the kids. Then tomorrow afternoon we are expecting about 11 kids at our house, it's the night we volunteer to take all the kids so the parents can do their holiday stuff. We are taking the kids to a Christmas hayride. A family from church puts on a hayride every year where you ride and along the way you stop and talk to Mary and Joseph on their way to Bethlehem, you meet some angels, wisemen, and other groups along the way. Then we'll come home and play like maniacs.

Sunday is a 9-10 mile run in the morning and then in the afternoon we are going down to MD to see my incredibly pregnant sister and her family.

Monday will be here waaaaaaayyyyyyyy too soon!

What do you have going on?

Wow, busy weekend ahead for you.  Have a great time tonight with your friends!  The hayride sounds like lots of fun, but 11 kids????  You are now Saint Ann!   I'm jealous that you have a 9-10 miler!  I'm still re-habbing the knee, but am hoping to try some easy runs next week on the treadmill.  I'm signed up for a half M in February in Ft Lauderdale and need to start training.  I'm going to have a semi-slow weekend.  I'm planning to swim, either tonight or tomorrow morning.  Going to a friends for a casual dinner tomorrow night.  Looking forward to hanging out with some folks I haven't seen in a while.  Only things planned on Sunday are another swim and a holiday open house.  I may try to get some shopping done....but if it stays this cold I will probably just hang inside next to the fire with some hot chocolate.

Good luck on the test today!  I'm available (and I bet Neal is too) to taste test any new cookie recipes you might be trying out.

Thank you so much for that offer!!!! I'm going to have to be satisfied with virtual taste testing.  I got on the scale this morning and saw a number I did not like.  I normally have no issues with weight, but the haitus from running combined with holiday eating has allowed a few lbs to sneak up on me.

Have you heard anything back on your job interviews?

It will be over before you know it!  Nothing better that nice neat brows. I'm the queen of hair removal.  Get the eyebrows waxed regularly.  Lasered the rest of it ages ago.  Do you remember the waxing scene from the 40 Year Old Virgin?  That movie abslutely cracked me up.  Steve Carell is seriously funny.

I'm tired today...even with my 9.5hr sleep last night...

Swimming last night went better than it has in the recent past. We did alot of technique! Need to get my freestyle back to racing level...my backstroke is doing alright I think....but I need my freestyle back (Its alright technically...but needs to be better!). Need to qualify for provincials...Need to get to A times at sometime in the near future...I'm pretty sure I can handle B times...I need to go 2:30 for 200 free...woooo...need to get speedy again!

Going to figure out my competition plan for the new year soon!....I have Jan-March pretty much figured...its the April-Sept I need to work on!

when you get speedy, can you come teach me MELISS.

good luck w competition planning.

have any ideas what  events youd like to do?

stacieb

Well I was a 200back, 200/400IMer back in the day...so theoretically I will return to 200back...or 100back...In light of the lack of 400IM fitness that I have...haha. We will see what happens with that sucker. Backstroke is my best chance on hitting provincial standards and possibly 200IM...I'll have to give'r some time. I was hoping I would be able to make a comeback with brst, but that was wishful thinking...and we might just throw some freestyle in for good measure...and for practicality of tri training...

kcarroll - 2009-12-10 6:53 PM Evening everyone!  I had a tough swim this morning.  It was my masters group and after 1000 yds of stroke and kick we had to do 9 x 100 at 2:30/2:20/2:10 for each 300.  Needless to say, my slow swimming self could not keep up. In fact, I thought I was going to toss my cookies at one point.  I'd never try to re-write my life, but boy do I wish I'd learned to swim as a kid.

sorry about the sucky swim...In my opinion there are few things worse then feeling like you are going to toss your cookies while in the pool...it is worse then feeling like you are going to toss your cookies some other time.

Rant Alert  I *snuck* out of work early today to get a few errands done.  One of which was to get the inspection sticker updated on my car.  Went to a private inspection facility/auto repair shop and asked if they could fit me in for a safety inspection this afternoon.  No problem.  So an hour later he tells me there are no issues with the car.  I pay the $45 bill, but when I get in the car notice that the inspection sticker is still the old one.  So I go back inside and ask about my sticker.  To which genius replies "what sticker?"  Me:  You know, the safety inspection sticker.  Genius:  You mean the NJ State Inspection Sticker?  Me: Yes (we are in NJ....I wasn't expecting a NY or PA sticker) Him:  You didn't ask for the NJ State Inspection Sticker.  That's $73.  Me: Why else would I ask you to do a safety inspection on a car with 60k miles that get's serviced regularly at the dealer?  Genius:  So do you want us to do the *NJ State* Inspection?  We know it will pass.  I'd much rather storm angrily out but sanity prevailes.  I was there and this was going to be my quickest way to get it done, so  Me:  Yes please.  So another 20 mins and $28 later, I have my stooopid *NJ STATE* inspection sticker.  All should be well now, but not exactly.  I get in the car and he's monkeyed around with all my auto settings. grumble, grumble.  And worse......the car reeks of cigarette smoke.  Yell Thanks for indulging me.

MORNING GHOULIES.

todays a crazy juxstaposition to yesturdays FRIVOLITY.

our family is attending a candle lighting ceremony at the Caring Place (Center for grieving children&their families) later on today.

we attended last year for the first time, and was a very meaningful and healing event.

our nephew was killed in a car accident 2 years ago, and as a family we attended the Caring Place.

we are thankful for this community that sorrounded us (and continues to surround us) in our time of grief.

we miss C something fierce.  he's remembered in our hearts.  always.

to life, well lived.
