Wow, slow day here.  Where is everyone?

I'm trying to get all my junk packed for tomorrow.  I also had to take care of a couple mechanical issues.  Went to wax my shifter cables and found a couple cracked ferrules.  So, five minute project turned into an hour project, but now have new housing and ferrules.

Hopefully I'll have a wireless connection tomorrow.  If so, I'm going to try and keep a narrative of the race on my training blog.

I'm getting some pre-race jitters now!

I'm sitting at work trying to decide whether or not to do an upper body weight lifting session or not.  I usually start resting after thursday when I race on sunday.  But these races or so short and it's not my A race.  Although, lots of my friends are in it and I do still want to beat them.  LOL

Another run today...too cold to ride...12k hills...kicked my butt!!!!

Hopefully, either Spin class or ride tomorrow, depending on weather.

Long run Sunday...planning 28-30k, longest run prior to another half mary in 3 weeks.  Have increased mileage over winter, with longer long runs, to see if it benefits Half Mary time...wait & see.

Doing a 10k race week prior to half for "sharpening"Wink

I imagine every neighborhood has an annoying resident.  In our 'hood' we call her "The French Lady" (because she's an old lady... and she's French).  The French Lady is as nosy as they come and our Home Owners Association cringes when she leaves her door stoop.  Of course for years my Sons have exasperated this old lady's complaining by harassing her whenever possible so she knows our telephone number by heart.  Well, today the French Lady left us a voice message saying "a man is running around in front of our house dressed in a strange costume with a mask on and someone in shorts keeps chasing him on the Chief's bicycle".  She also said not to worry as she had already informed the Police Department.   The Patrol Officer and I had a great laugh as I explained my son was timing Transitions… and the strange outfit had to have been my wetsuit, cap and goggles.  What a hoot for a Friday!

Early this morning I did get to the pool and had a short dreadmill jaunt.  Will update the log shortly.  Full rest day tomorrow followed by my first race.  I’M STOKED!  Best wishes to everyone else racing this weekend and thanks for all the support.

My Month End Review:

Got back in the pool again...thumbs up

Biking low month, but got my tri bike.  Group rides start next week.  Hopefully going to start to log some serious mileage then...

Run...Maintained my goal o 150km per month, good considering my 2 weeks in Florida.  Got a Half Mary this  month.  Gonna start tapering a little next week & start biking more.  Summer will be more biking!

So...How was everyone's April?

Did you accomplish what you wanted?  Are your goals changing for May?

Do you have any races in May?

What I mean is do you have to be a member for a certain # of days in order to (IOT) create a thread in that forum.   Nevermind, I found where it says 30 day minimum to post.

I didnt set any goals, but I had a decent month I think.  Changed my diet for the better, started to get in some quality pool time, lost 6 #s somehow, registered for a training race in the middle of May.  Doing a 35k ride tomorrow morning for kids who dont have shoes.  That's about it for me.

April was a great month -- first month of training!

On the swim, I can now actually swim and breath properly.  It's ugly, but at the beginning of the month could not even do 25 m.  Have now managed to do 150 m non-stop.

On the bike, I bought a roadie and went on several 20 mile rides.

On the run, managed to run at the 9 minute pace and yesterday had my first run ever -- in my life -- where I finished with no pain in the legs.

Sunday, my wife, son, and I all do a mini-sprint.  Wife's looking to survive, I'm looking to have a good workout, son's looking to win -- kid's 15 and a runner (5:10 top mile so far this year!)

Thanks to all for the tips and encouragement.
