wgraves7582 - 2010-10-07 5:48 PM Doc (to be) - do you see any logic in me returning to stability in my shoe for my femoral nerve problem.

I have ditched the VFF and everything is good so far.  Just throwing ideas out there but I hate to pay for another pair of shoes if it does not work!

Umm...it depends on the nature of the femoral nerve problem...I don't really know...

The only thing I can think of is if it is frictional in nature due to a muscle/tendon rubbing up against the femoral nerve when you don't have enough stability...which would suggest there is a weakness somewhere else in your leg when you don't have stability.

Ya...in 3 months I might be able to help you...right now I don't know that stuff...haha

My interviews went really well. I think I will know in a few weeks if this is going to work out. The only downside is the commute. It is 1 hour 15 mins each way. On the upside, hours are flexible so I don't have to be there early. And, it is in oncology. Tough field to break into.

Quick recap: my old company and I *separated* the end of August. I have been running and being a lazy bum for the last month. I've been talking to a very small company about a position and it is looking positive. Their focus is in oncology and supportive care. I've not worked in that therapeutic area (previous focus was thrombosis), so this could be very interesting.

Sometimes you just have to listen to your body. I was supposed to run 5 today. I woke up just plain tired. I decided to take an extra day off. Tomorrow is a rest day. Saturday is 20 miles. Then I taper.

BTW Melindy, I am impressed how well you are doing with the gluten free diet. That is NOT easy. I am cooking pasta as we speak. Whole wheat.  I've heard that the rice pasta is pretty good, but never tried it. Maybe I will, just for kicks.

Ah. I know you had separated in August and have been running etc. I didn't know you were doing interviews already. Sounds cool. Kinda crappy about the commute, but if you can make it work then why not?

Its only been 3 days...

I JUST WANT SOME BREAD.

But I will stay away from it. haha. Pasta will probably be a breaking point...but a bunch of places are starting to make gluten free stuff available. BP's has gluten free pizza now. Woohoo!

Melindy, I will be watching the Big K with you on-line Sunday. One of the guys in my masters swim group (from which I have been conspicuously absent the last month) qualified at IMKY. He did IMLP last year and IMCDA earlier this year and qualified in Ky.  Way Kool!

I hear you on the bread!!!! I am trying to take off a few more pounds and keeping away from the bread is tough. I've been buying the sprouted grain breads as a compromise. One of my niece's friends has celiac disease, so I really appreciate how tough it is to eat gluten free in today's world.

Oh, and avoiding high fructose corn syrup....another of my peeves!
