Because I needed to keep myself in check for this challenge, I went out for a walk tonight, around 7:30 p.m., out in the dark, on the 2-lane, not-much-traveled Hwy here.  Got in my 30 min. with a 2 miler "power" walk.  Feel better now.

Chalk me up a point!

go Phil!

Sounds like the team is on a good start for points then.

Ooh! I earned a point today!

heh! double post!

ummmm, have you been drinking? LOL!

Not enough, my tummy couldn't handle it It's my slow azz computer...

excuses, excuses

seriously, how are you doing?

I'm great, I'm so happy it's dulling the pain. I'm beat so I'm stretching then going to sleep. I can't even imagine what my knees are going to feel like tomorrow.... yikes.

TOPPAGE!

Why the knees?  I would think the thighs and calves, if anything.  Maybe the toes, and perhaps the balls of the feet.  I usually numb up around that part of the feet since I'm a neutral, non-heel striker.

I can't feel my big toes at all, I also go numb there and after a mary, it's usually overnight before they are normal again. Speaking of, I took my socks off after the race and there was a dime-sized blister on the side of my left big toe. Nasty. I felt it at mile 8 so that was fun to run on.

My knees have been trouble on and off. Because I ramped up mileage so fast, I've been having swelling in my right knee after long runs and today is no exception. But what really gets me after a mary is the quads. My bedroom is upstairs and walking down is excruciating!

PT Freaks notes – Chapter 2

We continue to fly through the posts, in fact one interested observer from the POG’s

How the heck did you guys get to 26 pages???  I'm a POG BTW....I think we are up to 2 pages

The competition for TOPPAGE promises to be fierce in this challenge, as evidenced in the exchange between Kristin and Philthy

K:  Missed yet again!
P: SH1T!  CURSE YOU LAZY!!
K: Bwahahahahahahahahaha! Take that!

We had a nice little  sing along with Phil taking the lead and posting song snippets, it was sort of an odd mix of karoke and Name this Tune!

And we’re waiting on a call from Master Travis – does keeping up with Phil in posting count as a PT session? – LOL!

Mel (Chartierm22) – spent Saturday night eating bbq pizza and watching Sponge Bob (I’m intentionally leaving out the part about the huge plate of broccoli cuz pizza and broccoli is just wrong! )

Chris (Chrisrunzs26)- is no longer a creepy clown (thank goodness!!) and has gotten off to a great start in the challenge with a run and a bike on the books!

Stacie (Dimplespoo)- we now know the secret behind her call name and that, the shortened version, Poo is reserved for her DH

Magda (Eurydice79) - *hearts* Belgian beer, had a great weekend with lots of activity, she even saw Aiada!

Phil (1stTimeTri)- continues to enjoy his we, ekend with da boyz, they thoroughly enjoyed watching the 3rd Indy movie.  He announced this event on the agenda in an attempt to cover up missed TOPPAGE – hehe!  He found a new avatar, which is quite mesmerizing……………………wait – ok, I’m back – lol!

Jenn (Jenni4) – must be out having lots of fun :-))

Cat (kaqphin) – is headed out to lunch with some gals that are interested in triathlon – how cool is that?!

Beth (lastcall2003)- ordered boring pizza on Saturday night, but the good news is she didn’t have to cook or clean up!  She watched Oh Brother Where Art Thou – remember ‘Do NOT Seek the Treasure’ – LOLOL!

Kristin (LazyMarathoner) – had a dry, boring Saturday night on the eve of her Mary (hmmmm, wonder what that says about the rest of us that were posting???? lol!  Kristin and Rudy appear to be kindred spirits

Every time I drink wine, I drink the whole bottle. I consider it to be one serving
(fwiw, I’m in that club too ).  Kristen’s morning got off to a rough start with a coughing fit and a headache, but she persevered and rocked at the Mary  - set a PR by almost an hour and ran her first sub-4, finishing in 3:58:14.

Kendra (Pipscweek) – Was a wee bit hungover from the Halloween festivites. Sounds like ski conditioning kicked her a$$ though

Rudy (Rudedog55) – got some Saturday T.I.T.S., had wine with dinner and there was something about punctuation???? .  He is not worried about a headache after the wine because he

had a buncha water, i am not exactly small either

Andy (RevBigDog)- oh Andy, where are you?  He got in some very nice workouts and has a great start to the challenge!

Ted (TeddieMao)- went to the Notre Dame game this weekend – did he run or paint this weekend?
Travis (tlnewman)-  showed his wisdom with one simple statement

I stopped trying to watch what I say around you.  Too much work.

Yanti (Triaya)- spent the weekend chillin’ and doing things that are good for the soul

David (Wraith28k)- hellooo!  Come visit us!

For the next crew to catchup.

Nighty-night!

hmmmmm, sorta makes me think - since I haven't found anything organized close by, maybe I should start something....................

so, how did you get the word out?

A conversation with L#1 - then we sent an email to a few people. Then they suggested more people... talking in hallways etc...

The fact Im overweight and not super fit I think really helps...  because Im a 'normal person' not a super skinny, super fit, scary person if that makes sense?

You calling me scary?  Because I look like a zipper when I turn sideways and stick my tongue out?  Awwwww, Cat, you wounded me.  Stuck me hard.  I'm going to pout now.  Cry big crocodile tears.  And make you feel guilty.  VERY guilty.  So guilty that you will have to fly all the way back here and beg for my mercy.

Lol - no you are seriously not scary...

How about I give you a cuddle.... im all soft and squishy so really good for cuddling!

Soft and squishy has some extremes, from a marshmallow to mud.  I hope you're not mud.

Do you really tell women they may be marshmallow or mud? It's a good thing you're already married....

Only when they claim to be soft and squishy.  It's better than telling them they're a zit or a limp manhood tool, yeah?

Limp manhood tool..... on that note, I should go to sleep. My body needs to repair!

Just a wee peep midnight posting for me. Not started on the challenge yet, but get most of my exercise on weekdays. I bike commute, so that certainly helps put the three-oh minutes in my day.

CONGRATS to Kristin on 1.5K!!!

I got bitten by a dog at work yesterday. He was a big, nasty shepherd and he was muzzled but he still managed to get me through the muzzle. Luckily its nothing serious because the muzzle prevented him from getting his mouth open too far - so its just a bit of skin missing. The funniest thing though is the first thing I thought (after %^#*!!!) was "I hope this doesn't interfere with me riding aero on the weekend LOL!!!!

You got bit in the azz??

Ha ha no, on the elbow ROFLMAO! Its all fine now, and I can still ride aero

Last night (Halloween night), there was a couple pulling a little wagon, and they made a ton of green jello shots with Tequila, and pudding shots with Kahlua.  I did the jello shot!

That sounds totally yummy!

Beth and Cat - you guys are amazing multi-taskers! I could only focus on Nibbs. But I did finally write my MCM 10K race report! Better late than never I say...

http://beginnertriathlete.com/discussion/forums/thread-view.asp?tid=137933

I "borrowed" some shots from marathonfoto as well to enhance it a bit

Commented.  I'll go run and hide now.

I'll have you know that the arm sleeves are not compression, just for warmth. It was 40 degrees!

But you'll love this. I bought full compression tights at the marathon expo last night. I'll be recovering in them after the race tomorrow. I *heart* compression!

Compression tights are AWESOME! I don't run marathons but I still notice the difference after my long runs. I wear them running and then I sleep in them

So this was by far the funniest costume I saw last night, his stained up wife beater said "Alaskins Four Palin" and he had the fake teeth, mullet and drank all his beers out of a bag. Hilarious!

LOVE it!

I've been invited to a "Bogan" themed housewarming party in a few weeks and I've been racking my brain trying to think of an outfit. "Bogan" is Aussie for "redneck" LOL. I think that wife beater outfit would be just perfect for my hubby LOL. I'd need to think of an Aussie-flavoured political slogan though!

so I took Phil's hint................................

PT Freaks notes – Chapter 1

In just day and a little bit, the PT Freaks the team has already on page 16 17 18 of their thread and have accumulated 386 431 posts!  This is particularly noteworthy because the challenge only started today and Phil is actually away on a weekend trip

When asked about the posting frenzy, Master Travis replied

We’re not chatty.  I prefer the term multi-taskers.  We post, we workout, we post, we workout, etc.

For anyone concerned about keeping up with the conversation – Cat has great advice

Dont worry about keeping up - when in doubt just read the last couple of posts and jump right in (ive been known to do it!

Mel (Chartierm22) – Mom of 2 girls preK and K.  Next summer will be her first tri season.  Since she swam in H.S. and has that as a strength, she’s focusing on running and biking.  In her intro, she began with..

Hole Moly I made it on the chatty team this month, will try to keep up
– from what I’ve seen so far, I’m thinking she isn’t going to have any trouble in that area

Chris (Chrisrunzs26)- lives in Ohio with her Hubby and works in construction. She’s going into her 4th year of Tri's. (many of us are still trying to get over the scary clown avatar from the first day of posting –JK, well, sort of )

Stacie (Dimplespoo)- completed her Masters in September – Congratulations Stacie!  She’s focusing on training for du’s and a springtime ½ Mary.  She is also learning to swim.  Thanks to Stacie for our awesome team table!  You ROCK!  As far as her call name, in case you were wondering

I have had the dimples nickname for years. and my hubby added the poo to it quite a few years ago and it stuck... What can I say...

Magda (Eurydice79) - from Perth, Western Australia (via Warsaw, Poland but that’s a whole other story). (I don’t know about you guys, but I’m thinking we need to hear more of this story!) Her first tri is coming up in 2 weeks!  She has also recently discovered the secret to high post counts in a short time (it’s called the Challenge Forum )  She  works very hard at padding her post count her job during work hours so I’m sure we will hear lots from her.  Cat now has a posting partner in the same time zone, so look for major post count increases during the month of November!

Phil (1stTimeTri)- is from the MadTown (Madison, WI) area and finished Ironman Moo (WI) 2007, and is getting ready for IM Moo '09!  He loves to chat and loves to win – lets not break his winning team challenge streak!  He’s currently at a waterpark with his 3 boyz – but waidaminute………jello shots on Halloween? (I wanna know where you trick or treat!)

Jenn (Jenni4) – is from Tennessee. She’s just getting back into running after some issues with with achilles tendonitis. Starting over with Running 101 and hoping to do a 5K on Valentine's Day and a Sprint Triathlon later in the Spring.

Cat (kaqphin) – aka Super Cat is from Australia, she may sometimes say good morning to you in the middle of the afternoon – but that’s because it is morning to her .  Her most recent claim to fame is talking Travis into setting up a challenge (nicely done Cat!) – a little known fact about Cat is that she has only seen snow once!

Beth (lastcall2003)- is very young (at heart anyway) mother of 3 - I have 2 kids in college (sophmore and freshman) and my youngest is in 8th grade.  Just moved to PA for a new job (from NE)  You guys missed out on the 7 months of commuting between Pennsylvania and Nebraska – that was quite the adventure!  4th season of tri’s coming up and planning on a ½ Mary in January or February with Kristin!

Kristin (LazyMarathoner) –

fairly addicted to challenges posting from my crackberry
(fixed that for ya Kristin ). She’s running the NYC Mary on Sunday and then heading into two months of less structured training in preparation for IMNO 70.3 on 4/5 and IMWI on 9/13.  She’s a fashion diva, sporting compression socks and she *hearts* compression (did I mention that she will run for wine?) – oh, and check out the totally awesome costume she came up with for Halloween!

Kendra (Pipscweek) – is from Tahoe and loves to ski!  She flies under the radar, so we may not see her around much, but she’ll be there getting ‘er done!

Rudy (Rudedog55) - lives in Southern Connecticut and has been Tri training for about 3 months now, he’s completed 2 sprints since he started training both in Sept he did first 5k race this past Sunday.  He’s got a busy season on tap for next year.  He has the distinct privilege of being on challenge teams

with the hottest BT girls, it's awesome
. He just signed up for the NYC tri! (oh, and he’s a very hot Captain Jack )

Andy (RevBigDog)- is a pastor of a Methodist church (which according to Phil means we don’t have to worry about ‘keeping it clean’ – lol).  He’s also a dad and

a whole lot of fun!
He’s looking forward to being on a chatty team.

Ted (TeddieMao)- lives in Chicago with his wife and two little ones.  This is his second year of tris (all sprints) he’s done a few adventure races.  Oh, and I think you are in the right club for sure

Travis (tlnewman)-  Besides being a bit of a rascal, is a Sgt in the Marines and currently stationed in CO (sorry Travis I just couldn't resist )  He’s been there for about 4 months.  One thing he failed to mention in his intro is that he will

run for beer
.  If you need any extra motivation during the challenge, we have several tools to help, there’s Dee’s cattle prod, Mila’s whip and now we have Travis, who will chase you while wearing steel capped boots!

Yanti (Triaya)- (ok, so I’m taking a little liberty here – Yanti and I have been co-mentors for the past few months and I’m stealing some bits from her intro )  She grew up in Indonesia and swam with the national team and her high school team. In the States, she coached and competed in martial arts, but became sedentary after an injury. Fast forward … well, she’s going to have to tell you all the ‘rest of the story’, but let’s just say she ROCKS!

David  (Wraith28k)- new to triathlon with only one race and a bit under a year of training under his belt. He is very much hooked though, and loving every minute! (now we just need him to get as hooked on challenges )

bump

Thanks for the summary! Thats awesome! Must have taken you a long time to do that!
