I actually only do it like once every 4 - 6 weeks - I make in the neighborhood of 20 meals, so, it's one weekend of free time sacrifced for 5 weeks of not having to worry about 'what's for dinner' - LOL

That's sooooo smart!

There's this little business down the street where you go and prepare your own food and then freeze it till your ready to cook it. I actually thought about trying it once. It's kind of cool, their menu changes every month.

We have a few of those here, too, though I haven't tried them yet... I've heard very good things about them, though.

we have one here and once I got past kicking myself for not having thought about taking what I've been doing for years and making it into a business I tried it out

The only caution I would have is to check the nutritional value - I found that the recipies, while tasty, tended to be very high in calories and fat

I have noticed that they are now offering a healthy menu plan as well - although, I haven't been overly thrilled about the menu options - not particularly kid friendly

I think anything is an upgrade from the way I eat.

LOL - maybe you should check it out ;-)

Oooohhh Beth... here are the topics you can include on Nibbins notes... at least this was my take on it when I popped back over just now:

rubbing off, burning lips, authentic enchiladas and getting off (of work, of course)

ROTFLMAO!!!!!

LMAO, I just caught that! Yup I'm slow tonight.

I was wondering how you two missed that!!!

This is my 800th post... and so on that very even and curvy number, I am going to head to bed.

G'night Beth and Hector!

Haven't heard much but it always seems to have people in there prepping food. So I assume it's popular. The prices seem to be reasonable from what I saw when I stopped by once.

I think if you calculate it out meal per meal it's very reasonably priced but I wasn't too keen on having to purchase X number of meals at once.  I'd like to be the decision-maker on that... particularly with three kids who are by no means picky eaters but they are used to my cooking .  I'd like to be able to try out just a couple and see how it goes, ya know?

For awhile it was very trendy to have parties at those places.  I am not much into "home parties" and this is just a variation on that theme so I never made it to one.

Exactly!!!

I do know a couple of people that split the meals, so they could get a flavor for it, but not have to commit totally

each gal made the meals they wanted to, if it works like the one here, you don't have to make one of each meal in the menu, just a certain total # of meals, so they each got to try out the 3 or 4 recipies that they wanted to

i would have to say, that my kids never found it a substiute for my cooking - but, they didn't mind too much

I updated my slot on the spreadsheet. Now I have to figure out how to stay on track this week, between TG and trying to manage the kids while DH is out of town. How long do you think it'll take the 11 yr old to kill the 5 yr old if I leave her to babysit?

givemashot - 2007-11-18 10:55 PM So I have a question for you guys. How many of you listen to music while you run/bike, and what music is it?

wow, Amy, that post almost got lost - it showed up at the bottom of the page

speaking for myself, I never listen to music when I bike - I really feel like I need to be aware of my surroundings and, speaking for myself, feel unsafe when I listen to music when I ride

running I do listen to music, depending on the situation, if it's one that I feel like there is no danger of my getting run over (like on the tread mill - lol) I listen

for me, it's a variety - a few of my favorites are

  • red hot chili peppers
  • goo goo dolls
  • theory of a deadman
  • dashboard confessional
  • cake
  • tom petty
