'Cause I was going to make a comment like, "Gee Beth, haven't shaved in awhile, huh?" this might help - we posted some leg pics in a previous challenge (just wanted to set the record straight in case there were any wandering minds........)

ok, you asked for it - just for you!
now that looks really yummy! and look at those girls! what a bunch of cuties! mom especially!!!! I had no idea how tall your dd is! no wonder she is a volleyball star! has she thought of rowing? my dd would be attacking her when she is walking around college campus...most schools have the team go out and ask anyone that is tall and athletic looking...and that would be her! |

LOL it wasn't really a Legs challenge per se - I'm trying to remember how it all started.........it was during November, there were several chatty teams - one team in fact even had daily cliff notes because they chatted so much no one could keep up (actually that is the team that eventually turned into Nibbs) - the funny thing was that there were so many people chatting in the thread, we pretty much lost track of who was actually on the team and who wasn't anyway we posted lots of leg pics that month

Veteran 228 Greenbelt, MD | Subject: RE: Totally Nutty Triathletes (TNT) Hey guys...sorry I haven't been around or training. Had some major family stuff go on toward the end of last week that had me rush out of town (naturally without my bike) for a few days. I'm just getting back into training. Also spoke with my doctor this morning about my achilles injury and she doesn't even want me walking more than I have to until I get in to see the orthopedist next month. So, I sent Dee updated goals (basically nixed the running and cut back a bit on the swim) and barring any other major catastrophes, I'll be totally on schedule from now on. And, sheesh, y'all are talkers. Not sure I'll be able to catch up on the thread reading! |

Master 2339 somewhere over the rainbow | Subject: RE: Totally Nutty Triathletes (TNT) wow. took me almost 20 minutes to catch up! i posted that pic of our dinner tuesday night, and i've been running around like a maniac since! ANYWAY. i have to update my logs, because i actually AM training. (in my own little way) AND, i think that dh felt guilty about NOT getting me that bike yesterday, SOOOOO, he bought me new running shoes which i also needed really bad, so i'm still bummed about the bike, but my new shoes are the SHEEEEEEEET!! i was running with moderate to severe leg and foot pain before, i knew i needed new shoes, but WOAH! i tied those babies on last night, and zooooooooom!! off she goes! little to NO leg and foot pain, i started off TOO fast because i felt so flippin great, but got in to a good run, and went a good long time. ALSO i started on iron supplements yesterday too, so hopefully i'll start feeling better THERE too. then WATCH out TNT, you won't be able to CATCH me!! LMAO!! now. the leg thing, that was fun. and YAY for posting that pic of steves legs (ooh baby!!) the enchiladas look freaking awesome!! (ironically, i made enchiladas last night too-mine are white though) tonight, i think we're doing dh's BBQ MONSTER BURGERS. (one of the reasons i married him ) other than that. i think i'm just hanging out here today. i am going out for another run because it feels so dang good. i think i'll look for a 5K to sign up for. because it's fun, AND because i'm still trying to get my best friend in to this world. she run/walks frequently, and she's started riding her bike, but i think the whole *race* thing freaks her out. maybe a 5K wouldn't be too scary for her. |

Master 2339 somewhere over the rainbow | Subject: RE: Totally Nutty Triathletes (TNT) forgot i was going to throw my two cents in about the food/nutrition thing too. i joined up with this site in about september. i had been running since june, in MAY of last year i was around, i'd say probably 170's--ran all summer, did my first tri in september, weight falling off the whole time. (should also throw in there that i had just had a baby, and i was nursing, which is like MAGIC weight loss) did the october challenge, weight continuted to fall off. in december i hit a plateau. i think this is pretty common. i've always been pretty consistant with nutrition (barring the occasional bag of oreos, or whatever ) i prefer fresh over pre packaged, like my dr said, if someone made it FOR you, it's not GOOD for you. i DO eat 6 smaller meals a day, except b-fast where i usually go bigger, because i typically run in the morning, and i need the calories. i THOUGHT that i had been just maintaining since december, and was pretty frustrated actually, but i wrote down in my calendar my weight at about Christmas, and as of today, i've lost an additional 17 pounds. all this to say, i think the calorie cutting works only for a few. i think the balance between weight loss, and starvation mode is too hard to the average mortal to find on their own. (my mom eats 1000 calories a day, and works out 5 times a week, and GAINS weight too-AND she's exhausted all the time, because she's STARVING) i think 6 smaller meals is healthier, and better on your digestion too, i think fresh food and prepared @ home food is the way to go, and well, for me, i find a good balance and it works. but i still get the plateau, and it's normal, it's hard to keep going through it, but you'll be glad you did. i know that it's totally cliche or whatever, but really it's not about a "diet" at all, it's about changing the way you eat, forever. changing the way that you relate to food. i'm not saying it's easy, and i'm NOT saying i'm there yet. this is just where i'm at and all my nutrition opinions. i just got on the scale this morning and for the first time since i was in 6th grade (i'm not kidding) i weight 139. i'm totally freaking out, and i'm going to celebrate by going out and trying on jeans. this always cheers me up. last time i bought a 6, and they're baggy after i wear them for a day, so THIS time, i'm going to try a 4 (this coming from a life long fat girl!! who would have THOUGHT it ever possible!!) keep it up, and if you need encouragment, it's ALL over the dang place on this site!! think how far you've already come, think of all that you've acomplished, and even if weight comes off slow, or not at all, know that you're as healthy as you can be, and that means as much if not more that being thin. *hugs* keep it up |
