mila - 2008-10-22 9:37 PM Umm, but lemme tell you what is not a good thing. Very tall man comes into the kitchen and reaches on top of the refrigerator where you have hidden so no one else can have any stored your pumpkin fudge and proceeded to eat all but one measley bite of it. I knew I shouldn't have given him a taste earlier. It's like crack...

I'll be holding up a sign in the middle of the road... "Will work for pumpkin fudge". Thank goodness I have good handwriting.

Well.... either don't let very tall men into your kitchen anymore. Or else get a higher refrigerator. Then again, you could always ask him to dust the top of the 'fridge for you.....

but then wouldn't he get the pumpkin fudge??????

Not if she hides it in the BOTTOM of a cabinet next time.

mila - 2008-10-23 11:57 AM Mmmmmm... pavlova....

I havent made one since last chrissie - but it was soo good... home made is ALWAYS best!

Yup, indeed!!  My mom makes it for my birthday whenever she's in town.  Started with my 16th birthday and became a tradition thereafter.

traditions are a good thing

ESP when they involve good food and/or sweets...

For sure!!!!

waidaminute.....................pumpkin fudge? - hmmmmmm -

I can't quit wrap my head around that

Hi Mila!

Hi Beth!

Yeah, I wasn't so sure about it when I first heard but she was so insistent that I would love it... and then actually brought me a $5.00 gift card so I'd come try it.  You know how it is...they always give you your first hit for free... .  I is was really good.  I'm just glad she only gave me $5.00 worth (and I bought Exhibit C a chocolate covered pretzel, too) 'cause I think it could be problematic otherwise!!!!

Yeah, I make good fudge... two different types for Christmas but this one would be way too labor intensive for me, I think.

Want to break an addiction to fudge...

Step 1.)  Make a list of everyone who you wish wasn't so skinny love and care about
Step 2.)  Begin making batch after batch to fill your lengthy list...
Step 3.) Fingerlick the pot after pouring each batch, be careful, it's hot
Step 4.) Taste a piece of each batch for quality control

By the time you have completed step 4 and made at least six batches, you will never want to eat fudge again, at least until next time, or you don't have to make it

kaqphin - 2008-10-22 9:08 PM And I do miss L&P, perky nanas, pixie caramels and Pinky bars... all of which I can only get in NZ

And hokey pokey ice cream!!!!

Then there is Sausage rolls, lamingtons, Belgian Biscuits, Eskimo Log, Tim Tams, Cherry Ripes, Roses, Redskins, Caramello Koalas, Freddo Frogs, Nutella...

Perky nanas? Pinky bars? Lamingtons? Tim Tams? Cherry Ripes? Freddo Frogs? I know Roses, at least. They grow outside on bushes. And they have thorns.... Well, the type of Roses that *I* know do, anyway.

There are a lot of thornless roses out there.  People have been messing around with plant genetics a ton.

BTW... what exactly is Pavlova anyway?....(and don't tell me a Russian Ballet Dancer.... b/c I already know that)

Umm a giant Meringue but is got a soft sweet marshmellowy texture inside...

Then you cover it in cream and with fruit or in my case strawberries and grated chocolate and EAT!

There use to be a little Aussie themed cafe near my place.  I had their pavlova-it was mango flavored with fresh fruit on top.  Maybe it is a good thing that they moved on...

Heh .  I love it!! I do that, too.

I got my favorite fudge recipe from one of my really good friends.  When I was pregnant with Exhibit C we had the discussion of how sad it was we only make fudge during the holidays.  So the night before I was heading to the hospital (scheduled c-section in August), she came over to my house with a bottle of champagne and a HUGE thing of fudge and had a chat with my family about how no one was allowed to touch it while I was gone.
