Pro 4608 Brooklyn, NY | Subject: RE: Team Vixen - Dec. Limiter Challenge Why I run: I took up running in 1999 after moving to NYC. I had run a bit here and there throughout the years, but never took it seriously. I started specifically to try to do a marathon one day. I was never athletic, never really played sports as a kid. I was out of shape, had bad knees and was painfully slow, but I completed my first marathon in 2001. The sense of accomplishment was overwhelming. I had never experienced anything like it in my life. I continued to run over the years and have completed 4 more marathons, but found myself needing a new challenge. Since I couldn't swim, I decided to sign up for a tri as motivation to learn. Right before my 33rd birthday I had my first-ever swim lesson and completed my first olympic just 2.5 months later. Now I'm hooked. But quite simply, I do it because I can and because so many people would really like to and can't. It makes me thankful to be healthy and that feeling of accomplishment I had back at the beginning continues. Philosophical toppage! Edited by LazyMarathoner 2008-12-10 8:39 PM |

There is actually a wine store in my hood that delivers but they are closed I have about 40 bottles here though so I should just dip into some of the good stuff. I'm worth it |

Master 1989 New Jersey | Subject: RE: Team Vixen - Dec. Limiter Challenge well, I guess I ought to answer my own question as to why I run. I ran track in high school and college (hurdles). And why did I start there? Because I was a late bloomer as far as team sports. Never played as a young kid. Sucked in them. After college, I started on road races - but never had any idea as to how to train. I thought I was a runner, but I'd train for a few weeks before a race and then wonder why I sucked. Finally I did a marathon and realized I needed to become more dedicated. Now, I run for multiple reasons - it's therapy for me. It gives me self-esteem. It keeps me healthy. It's a social outlet. It gives me identity. As far as tri's - i started to cycle as cross-training since I had troubles with my knees. The final piece came when my son joined the summer swim team and it looked so refreshing, so I tried it. |

Is it that they are just so insecure that any bit of attention sucks them in? |

Some women think the a-hole guys are cooler, or sometimes they're hot and that's why they are a-holes to begin with. I don't get it either. I guess I'm not a typical woman. |

Normal dudes have very little when it comes to relationships. So their choices are clingy dudes (nope), normal dudes who spend their time playing fantasy football (not unless they're rich), or a-holes that come and go but provide a nice game to play and something to chase (yep). |
