Hey,

Massive storm coming.  At the newspaper.  Totally sucks.  Sick of this winter.  Going to hope to get Kathy away a month of the winter after we retire in a few years.  Hawwai, Texas Hill Country, I don't care.  Rant over.

How much did you spend for the Tri Specialized bike shoes?

On the tri bike fit, the fitters all seem to want you as aero as possible.  That means a big drop from the seat to the bars.  For my back, that was no-no.  It also felt like I was unstable.  OK for a 12.5 mile TT, not so good 25 m and more. Finally got someone to listen.   He raised me up in front by 5.5 CENTIMETERS.  That is huge.  And guess what.  I'm still aero enough, I am comfortable as I can be and I feel like I am stable in total control of the bike.  There is a compromise between aero and comfort that has to be found.  The longer the race, the more important it is.  You can't get power to the pedals if you are in agony.

That's why I plan on moving SOUTH when I retire.  Forget this snow stuff.  If I wanna see it, I'll fly to it.

$130 including SPD cleats.  I put them on and was shocked at how nice they felt.  With my Shimano SPD-SL shoes, I felt like I had cleats attached to a flat piece of plastic.  The Specialized shoes fit the shape of my foot very nicely.

This winter has been like they were when I was a kid, snow all the time and cold as heck.  Were supposed to get some snow 8" or so but the problem is the 1" of ice.. Going to kill all the power lines if it does come that way.  How in the heck can it be ice at 10deg?  I screwed my workout up tonight and missed the pool hours by getting out of work late and getting my plow ready.  Oh well did 1hr P90x kempo for fun.

Chicago is supposed to get thumped tonight so I'm going to throw down a brick (albeit a small one) this morning after I see my future step-son off to school.   1950yds in the pool and then I'll jump on the spin bike provided it's open.

Does everyone else have the same issue I have when it snows and its a level 1 or worse emergency they close our pool, so if the weatherman is correct (very rarely) everything will be shut down for a few days.

Don't get me started on closing pools because of meteorological events.  I've found no data supporting any policy of closing a pool when there is lightning.  And yeah, the day I learned of this policy I was so ticked that I looked.

Scratching my planned workout for the day and am going to simulate the indoor tri I'm going to do on the 20th - just for fun.  Feel like I  need a little change-up...

For everyone that's patiently awaiting the pending white-out, stay safe...

I am done with this winter already.  Called the gym/pool yesterday and it was STILL CLOSED this morning.  This is now 9 days all because they mixed the wrong chemicals.  It was supposed to open this afternoon but it is all up to the State of Illinois inspector.

Getting ready for the blizzard of 2011 - calling for 21.5 inches and 50 mph winds.  Hopfully you don't get that ice and lose power.

With taking a week off I am feeling great and holding up pretty good.  Doing 15 miles this weekend so we;ll see after that.

So my fiance told me that I'll need to call the gym before going because they might be closed tomorrow.  I think if one lives in a region where there could get whacked with snow that 4x4 should be compulsory Wink

Maybe I can peel off a few miles in 2 feet of snow...

Good Evening Team.

Snow has started here in the Windsor Ontario Region - fireplace is on and I am chilling for the rest of the evening and hoping I get to the pool tomorrow.

Today, I took it pretty easy. No cardio work, no bike, no swim and no run. Decided to just do my physio and weight routine.

Be careful everyone and have a great night.

Wow I love winter!! NOT... thank god we have 3 4wd trucks our cars can't move 1ft in our driveway.

My workout tonight was plowing/shoveling for 2.5 hours.  Don't know why I did it as the wind is already at 30mph and supposed to get worse.

How is everyone else doing with the weather? anyone snowed in or loose power yet?  For the warmer weather members you better do double or triple for us suckers.

Hey Coach.

Weather is brutal and has been for the past couple of hours here in the Windsor - Detroit area. I have the fire place on and getting ready to watch the Hanney project with Rush on the Golf Channel.

Power is still on thank god.

Good luck with the weather everyone.

Sounds like fun, My wife already closed their practice tomorrow. I'm thinking I may stay home too and get a workout in.  Neighbor ran out of beer so I may go take him our leftovers from this weekend, temped to have a few with him.

Shoveled the driveway 5 times in the last 12 hours.  Had 4 Sam Adams last night, but I think I worked them off already.  Their saying that 17 inches has fallen already.  WOOOHOOO!!!!

I hope the gym is open.

I shoveled 3 times also last night - I was watching news and they said there were 60 mph gusts in Aurora.  Can't believe how FAST the snow cam down.  I would shovel clear and then goo out 2 hours later and there was 10 more inches!!  Even had Thundersnow - which might be the next name for my band-haha

Its gonna be -15 with real feel over below -30 tonight.  Awesome.  Gym closed for today so pln is to just do some shoveling and elliptical today.

Looks like I am going to be stuck at home today. College is closed so that means I don't get to swim Frown .

I guess it is going to be a nice long bike for me today and I am going to sign up for a couple of my races this summer if they are available on line.

Have a great day everyone.

Hi Team.

Just a bike and a stretch today.

Starting to feel like I have to start testing myself more on the bike so I am going to start working a bit harder on it.

Snow Snow Go Away!

Hope everyone is having a great day.

Sounds like everyone is having a blast with this snow.  We had snow plus 1" of ice, made plowing/shoveling fun. Now like Tim the cold is coming.  I scrapped all workouts today as I think the cold bug might be creeping back (hope its just allergies). Just found out one of my co-workers has strep and another is sick (great)  so better safe then sorry.

Anyone have any fun superbowl plans?

I stand corrected. They DO close the gym. The weather / roads were so nasty that they didn't open til midday today.

I managed to get to swim this afternoon with one of my partners - 4 x 75, 3 x 400, 200 x pull, then came home and did an hour on the trainer.

while I was on the bike, my daughter made me feel 100 years old tonight. I had on the 80's music channel while I was riding and they happened to be playing Bobby Brown. She walked in looked at me, looked at the telly and said 'Mother, what  ARE you listening to??!!' Apparently, I need a spinnervals after all Embarassed

No superbowl plans just yet - feeling out a couple of party invites - just not sure what I want to do but I will do a swim that afternoon after my lesson on Saturday. How about you?

Oh ya, just remembered you wanted us to list our goals for Feb. OK - I just have one really - swimming related of course - how about being able to swim 200 meters straight - no breaks? What the hell!

Hope you can dodge that bug coach.

Have a great night everyone.
