Subject: RE: Memorial Hermann Ironman Texas : Official ThreadRode the front half of the course on Sunday morning. It was MUCH warmer than it has been for most of the rides this year. I believe it was almost 70 degrees when we started. By the time we arrived back in Northshore Park the temperature was in the mid, to upper 80s. A couple of us went on a short run (<5 mile) along the running path on Panther Creek on the West side of Lake Woodlands that is part of the run course and it was even hot through that mostly shaded portion. Also dipped body parts in the lake to gauge water temp since there is no swimming allowed at the park normally. It def felt like it would be uncomfortable with any wetsuit on. Water felt warm. I saw the temp is .3 degrees currently under the podium cut-off, and even with swimming being my weakness, I'm favoring against a wetsuit. My advice, prepare for an oven Saturday. If you honestly thought you would get "lucky" with the weather - here's your reality check. You have about 3 days get your mind ready. Cheers - Chris #2082 Goal - Sub 11 |
