I think I'm going to try running today.  I've taken about a week and a half off to hopefully alleviate my shin splints.  I also invested in some Zensah calf sleeves which, if reviews can be believed, are may help reduce the pain.  I'm crossing my fingers that things go well!

Good morning Ghoulies.  Working today.  This is usually a quiet weekend cause everyone is at the malls shopping.  I will enjoy today.

Hello! I slept in till now...1130..haha...didn't get home till 3am. The concert was pretty wicked though..it just started a bit too late for 3 bands to play. We were all so tired. A bunch of my classmates came and we had all been up since about 6am for our morning session yesterday. Oh well. Training for being on call next year?

Not the greatest day so far in good ol' Utah. I had to skip my swim and aquajog session this morning with the local tri club because of lack of sleep, bad weather, and my achilles being too talkative. Hubby says I woke up on the wrong side of the bed, and suggested we switch sides. To which my son said "she doesn't want to do that, your side is covered in man-grease!" LOL. My hubby has slightly oily skin, but it isn't THAT bad. But I wash the sheets more frequently than I would otherwise. LOL.

All of the Christmas shopping is done! I had a great day going out with my BFF and my daughter. We went to lunch then did our shopping. They did their shopping, I walked around somewhere else.

When we got home we made a quick trip to the grocery store, because I forgot to pick up white chocolate chips while we were out. Then we made chocolate covered peanut butter balls, peanut butter fudge, and peppermint bark. The peppermint bark may be a little strong, I had a peppermint spill over the chocolate.

I hope everyone else had a good day!

Well, they worked okay for about 3 miles.  After that not so much.  They are pretty much like any compression sock, but apparently they are ribbed for my running pleasure.  Supposedly the ribbing imitates what an athletic trainer would do if they are taping someone's leg, at least that's what the package says

I don't really get how even taping would help shin splints...it's the muscle either growing too rapidly or becoming inflammed and rubbing against the overlying fascia...some people have it so bad that they have to have tears surgically put in the fascia to make it bigger to give the muscle more space...it relieves the pain but apparently looks kind of funny...or resting to allow the fascia time to stretch out...why did you end up with shin splints all of a sudden? Do you think it was all the P90X stuff or?

Please don't tell me the package says they are ribbed for your running pleasure...please tell me you made that up...

I'm blaming p90x on my shin splints.  I've been running for years and have never even remotely had an issue with them.  I noticed they started feeling worse after plyometric day so I cut that workout out.  Unfortunately it had progressed to the point where simply cutting out that workout wasn't enough.  I think it's just going to take some good ol fashioned rest at this point.  No magic calf sleeves either.

And yes, I came up with the ribbed for your running pleasure bit.  If I ever go into the business of making compression wear I will definitely be using that slogan

Ok...packing apathy mode is over...I have room for everything! Well...except my helmet and bike shoes...but I figure I will just deal with cages and rental helmets for the start of IMLP bike training...It's probably not going to be super regimented road biking...I think I will get a MTN bike...I feel that will be more useful to me for the trip and cheaper since I'm not taking my bike along...

MAUI MAUI MAUI!!!
